We were greeted warmly upon entry and I did feel comfortable browsing. I asked about the water and the man behind the counter gave me good directions to find it. The pricing on it was pretty good. They have plenty of wine here, and if in the mood and the area, I could see myself picking up a bottle. The boxed goods were quite pricey to me - crackers and such. As for ambiance, this place was quite cramped. I think that I say I felt comfortable because sometimes there's a level of uncleanliness that comes with cramped spaces. But this place seemed cleaner to me, so I had an elevated level of comfort. I doubt that I'll be walking by, but I have to say, with their later hours, if I need a gallon of water or some wine, I may make the trek up to them because they had the basics at some decent prices.

I asked before leaving the hotel where the nearest convenience store was. I was directed elsewhere because it was supposed to be closer, but I got lost going there and ended up here. Getting here is easy. Just be mindful of your surroundings. People will be everywhere and you just might have to dodge vehicles that could be blocking the sidewalks. Inside, it's the typical 7-11 fare. Coolers stocked full of every drink under the sun. The snack selection was a bit lacking in my opinion. I mean, I was able to find things to hold me over, but it would not have been my first choices. Staff were friendly. They made sure that I had a smooth transaction to get out of here.

Their prices are more than high enough to not pull the bait and switch and add a card fee on top of them! But, far more importantly, the guy who was working when I was in was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered in retail. People like him have no business selling - we went in a few minutes before closing and when I told him I was going to pay cash (I didn't have a choice to just not buy or I would have) because of the card fee, he literally started shouting at me to hurry up while I found enough cash to pay. I was not slow, he was just incredibly rude. Not acceptable. Please be sure you bring EVERYTHING you might need to conventions with you so you don't have to deal with this awful business.

Not only do they have everything down to like garlic herb, even jalapeños, along with every other staple you can imagine. They really have went out of their way to stock as a mini market not as a place to shop daily but as a place come and get whatever you may have forgotten. Or if you need a night's meal. They actually sell some chicken and steaks one and two at a time in case you want to cook dinner for yourself. I've never seen that before. Class move. They make a great Cobb salad and with their ranch. They have a bunch of breakfast stuff along with chicken fried fresh all day. They make the best sandwiches at the most reasonable price. He then falsey claimed that I was short on money. I had to count the change in front of him to prive that I provided the correct amount. It felt as though I was targeted and treated poorly due to my skin tone. No customer should be subjected to discrimination or hostility, especially when simply trying to make a purchase. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of thier race. I expect higher standards of customer service from 7-Eleven. This area of First Hill is somewhat of a "food desert". There are a handful of these convenience stores, and this one happens to not only be the closest to where my friend lives should we need snacks, drinks or ice it's there. A few times we've been caught without some of those above-mentioned items and with the recent closure of Whole Foods walking to a grocery store for goods has been even more of a chore. Here comes Plaza Select. It's got pretty much everything you'd expect and want but marked up by a few dollars or so. Primarily my friend and I come here for Ice. $3.xx here as opposed to $2-2.50 elsewhere. Not a huge markup which is fine but on one of my visits I went to debit the purchase, and it was an additional $1 or 2 because anything under $5 carries a fee. I wish the owner who is mostly nice warned me or put up a sign. I could've basically got 2 bags of ice for 1 elsewhere at this point. If you're coming here to spend less than $5, be warned.
