When you shop at a boutique, you expect that higher prices mean you're getting something more unique, higher quality, or thoughtfully sourced. Instead, They're reselling mass market items at a 100% markup while presenting them as boutique finds. I think it's wrong to take advantage of customers this way, especially when you're shopping with the expectation that you're paying more for something special or unique. I appreciated the absence of shipped up items intended to look like a "local" find. I also appreciated interesting and authentic creations. It's a neat and often clever little niche Anchorage needed and it's part of a drive up mall resurgence on 36th. This store has a walk up entrance you won't see from the ample mall parking where you can find a coffee shop, a restaurant and other interesting locations. The entrance is on 36th and if you wish one can park on the side road and forgo the parking lot altogether

We were told it might take up to 8 weeks for our order to arrive in Alaska because we ordered a color they did not have in stock. That's totally fine, things take time to get shipped up here. Well, 8 weeks came and went and we had zero contact from the store about when our order would be delivered. Finally after calling and emailing them several times I got a call back saying that they would be scheduling the delivery for 1 November 25. The night prior to our scheduled delivery, we got a call from Russell (the salesperson that placed our order for us) saying that Richard (another salesperson) forgot to order a piece of the bed so the bed would actually not be delivered on 1 November. He said that Richard no longer works for their company and so he'd fix Richard's mistake. Richard did not take our order, Russell did. Russell then said he'd talk to a store manager about getting our $150 delivery fee refunded and he'd call us back the next day to confirm how we'd like that refund sent to us. We did not receive a call the next day or for the next several days. I emailed Russell and asked for an update and then he called my husband to tell him he needed a manager's approval and that he'd call my husband back the next day when a manager was in the store to assist. Well guess what, no call then either. We have requested to talk to a manger several times and every single time the response is "one should be working tomorrow". At the end of November, after not receiving any word about a refund on our delivery fee, I emailed Russell AGAIN to ask for an update on the refund and once again requested to speak to a manager. He said that our check was already in the mail and that he forwarded my contact information to the manager to call me. When the check arrived it was dated one day after I sent that email so he either forgot to send it or hoped that we would forget about the $150. Our bed finally got delivered on 13 December 2025, almost four months later. I am 8 months pregnant and slept on a mattress on the floor while waiting for this bed. I feel like I straight up harassed these people to get this bed delivered which is outrageous. I understand that things take time to get delivered up here, but when we were quoted 8 weeks and that time doubled because of a mistake on the company's part, I would have (at the very least) expected to speak to a manager when I requested to speak to one. They have done absolutely nothing to try to rectify this situation except make empty promises and place blame on other salespeople that don't even work at the store anymore. I have called and emailed both the salesperson that helped order our items and their company's direct email and I get nowhere with either. The same happens when I call, if they answer the phone at all. To date I have still not received a call back from a manager. I don't believe that one actually works at this store, nor do they give a s*** about what goes on there. Mistakes happen, but for the price point of this furniture, I am really really disappointed by the lack of concern they have for trying to correct a problem that they caused. I do NOT recommend shopping here. Support a different business that will actually value your hard-earned money and not try to give you the run around.

The check samples out to you as well and we came home with three boards of tile to look at against our kitchen counters. As we were walking to the front, she mentioned the furniture and decor showroom downstairs and holy moly were we shocked by it!! Shocked and pleasantly surprised!!! Rethink Home is a family-owned business located on W. Fireweed across from the VFW Post between Arctic and Spenard. The display floor is filled with an interesting mix of antique furniture, novelty items like 80's icon shirt button pins (Pac-Man, Mr. T, Galaga, Max Headroom, He-Man, and Q-Bert among others), a large detailed oil-style painting of Audrey Hepburn from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's displayed on the rear wall in the back room, Alaskan memorabilia, and crafts from local artists. Like all of my other reviews on antique stores, my main focus is the vinyl they have in wooden crates set up by the front register. The collection here is relatively small and like the secondhand thrift stores, they will arrive randomly without notice. There was an array of albums from the 40's and 50's up to the more modern artists from the 70's and 80's. I saw a few that caught my attention but unfortunately had to pass on because of the condition of some of the records. Some jazz albums I considered buying had visible surface scratches and split seams on either the top or bottom of the album covers. At $5 to $8 on some of these, these were priced relatively high by their condition alone. However, they did have a separate crate of records that were marked down to $2 or 50% from their original selling price, but again the condition was a concern. The nearby secondhand thrift stores had vinyl in better shape at only $1 apiece or .60 at the lowest with minimal surface scratches or fully intact album covers with the original inner sleeve available. However, the people running this store are very friendly and this place is a good option for anyone looking to purchase some paintings or a detailed wood-carved piece of vintage furniture.
