Butterfly conservatory is pretty. I enjoyed seeing the butterflies enjoying their space from snacks, to flying to enjoying different plants and spaces. There is a check at the end to make sure you don't have any butterflies on you. Which on landed on me about 9 times so I was thrilled they could help me make sure I didn't take any hitchhikers out with me. There is a lab where you can see in through a glass window butterflies being created and forming. Folks working there are super nice. It's definitely more kid and family friendly but I do enjoy going on my own and learned some things from the signs. Very pretty space too. The fossil space had a lot of information and I like their put together info about when the animal lived, where fossils were found and more information about the period the animal lived in. read more

I went with my daughter (who's visiting from out of town for Spring break) and 4 of her children today. My daughter had free admission for 3 of her children, I paid $81.00 ($27 for 1) for myself, my daughter and my adult granddaughter. I was in shell shock at how expensive it was to go through the Dinosaur museum. That price for the 3 of us to walk around with my grandchildren was definitely was ridiculous. Overall my grandchildren enjoyed the 1.5 hours we were there seeing everything we could see. With the outrageous price for admission, we won't be visiting Thanksgiving Point again. read more

We came to Thanksgiving point for a birthday party inside of the dinosaur museum on a Saturday afternoon. The host had rented a room which included playing in the Jurassic jungle. The private room was plenty big for the party. I do have a few concerns about the Jurassic jungle. My child was not scared, but it does feel like a potentially unsafe environment in terms of random people having access to the children inside of the play area. There were workers on one level, but there are so many dark corners and other areas that nefarious activities could take place. The lighting is very very poor (I get it, it's supposed to be a mood). And frankly, it is a maze, I often had a difficult time orienting myself. I even assisted two crying children, that I did not know, towards the exit to find a parent. I think the set up is poor in terms of safety, but I'm not sure how it could be improved aside from having more workers and from turning the lights on. Also, it doesn't feel like anyone is necessarily checking people coming in and out, so there is an unfortunate Possibility of kidnapping. (Thank you anxiety) read more

Visiting this Tulip Festival was a beautiful experience. Walking through different colors of tulips was breathtaking, peaceful and relaxing. Some tips to make your trip memorable: -Go early so you can get parking close to the entrance. We paid the special parking fee so we could park right in the front area. Big plus as the day got warmer, we walked to the car easily to drop of our jacket -Also going early helps avoid the crowds so you can take time to take pictures with the flowers. Soooo many beautiful spots to take photos. -Bring a hat as it was a beautiful warm day in May. Plus wearing a hat in the pictures adds a charming touch. -Wear colorful clothes to help your pictures pop. We also ate lunch at their charming cafe. Their food was delicious and also healthy! Reservations can help if a big group so not much wait. If you love flowers and nature, definitely a place to visit! Take time to enjoy and admire the beautiful flowers! read more

The gardens are beautiful, but buyer beware if the weather is bad....My teenage daughter spent her own $50 to go to the tulip festival but it is a blizzard right now and Thanksgiving Point cares more about sticking to their rules and then taking care of the customer. I really don't think it would put them out by switching her tickets, but really they could care less about taking care of people. I love supporting companies who care more about the customer. read more

There is SO much to do go all ages and the All Pass is super affordable. There is way more than instagramable scenery there. There are several days worth of activities with the museum of curiosity and curiosity farms as well as gorgeous Ashton Gardens and Jurassic Jungle. Kids under 3 are free and they had little kid safe play zones everywhere. We will be going back and often because there is still so much we didn't get to. read more

My family and I only come to thanks giving point a couple times a year, and I don't know why it's so little. There is SO much to do. Museums, play grounds, a little zoo of sorts, activities, outdoor areas, butterfly atrium, and probably more. The visit a single exhibit I think it's like $27 for an adult, but for an all access pass it's $39. A full year for a family is $350. The annual membership seems soooo worth it. You basically only need to come once a month to make it worth it. And you'd be hard pressed to repeat an activity each month there is so much to do. One of our kids favorite is the Jurassic jungle. read more

Went on a trip with the kindergarten class from Copperview Elementary today. This was the rudest, worst field trip we ever had. The young woman was literally pushing everyone out the door to stand in the sun at 11:45 when we were told earlier we would be done at noon, so 50 kids were not allowed to wait inside because they were ,'in the way'. The bus drivers came at 11:59, right on time as we were told. The extremely rude woman walked behind the last of the kids with her arms outstretched and her nose in the air to show she was clearing the way even if it meant pushing 50 kindergartners, teachers and parents into the sun when should previously announced noon as leaving time, which everyone remembered but her. None of us will ever be back! read more

Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point is one of my favorite holiday traditions. They've added a few embellishments this year including the Fire and Ice performance that just added to the experience. We have a membership to Thanksgiving Point and it is by far the best thing we have!! Not only do they have amazing museums and attractions. They do a lot of seasonal tours! Right now they have one called dinosaur island and it is so much fun and interactive for kids of all ages! It is at the Ashton Gardens so there is tons of walking. However you are able to rent golf carts($50)wheelchairs($10) ,seated scooter ($30)and strollers ($5) at the green house. They have a fun and clean entry way and the paths are kept clean as well! It was a very good night. Just past the water fall they had a concession stand and about 12 tables you can sit and eat. They also have lots of bench's along the paths for sitting if you get to tired. We noticed 3 bathrooms throughout so that was nice especially with littles! All in all a great experience read more

I went with my 7-year-old and her school's entire 2nd grade on a field trip to the Museum of Curiosity. The hour long bus ride was very loud because the kids were so excited. When the bus dropped us off at the front, we walked through some tiny doors to get inside (I could have used the normal sized door, but that wouldn't have been as fun). There were so many different areas to explore! We barely visited them all within the hour. We could have easily spent more time here. Even as a boring old adult, I had a lot of fun! We started in the rain forest area where the kids did a lot of climbing and then screamed in fear as they slid down an awesome slide. Apparently it has two fun surprise drops :) I wish I had gone down it (I didn't know adults could). After wrangling my group of kids, we headed to a different area where they could build with huge Legos, become a veterinarian, be on tv, do magic with optical illusions, put on a play on a small stage, play music, and exercise. We headed to a different area where they learned about the weather and played with some water (without getting soaked). I now know what it feels like to have 85mph winds blowing down on the top of my head. It makes for a great hair day :) Be sure to hang on to your hats! We only had a few minutes left, so we ran outside to explore. There was a fun playground, but around the corner was a cave with a waterfall. There were some ponds with koi fish that the kids loved. We ran out of time to do everything we wanted to do. My daughter has been asking to go back and the older kids wants to join her. We might plan a family trip out here. It was a blast! read more

5-7-21: Butterfly Biosphere visit, total entry, 2 adults, 2 kids, $70. Special birthday treat for the granddaughter, we spent an hour or so exploring this exhibit. I appreciated having staff sprinkled throughout the rooms, and each one was outgoing, knowledgeable and engaging, providing kid-friendly information and tips about the displays. Fortunately, we visited on a weekday, so the place wasn't packed, which allowed special attention to each family group. The first exhibits highlight dozens of exotic insects from around the world. 4" cockroaches anyone? The large butterfly exhibit area allowed the kids to romp around and explore. Once they learned that the best chance to lure a butterfly onto the fingertip was by being still and quiet, they caught on and successfully did so. Our kids are 5 and 7, so we did not venture into any other Thanksgiving Point venues. That would have definitely been information overload, considering the wealth of learning and fun offered. read more

The facilities are so fun but totally ruined by the staff and policies. The company puts secret blackout dates on members that aren't disclosed on their website so they can make as much money as possible on people who have to pay. Their "unlimited access" statement does not hold up. They are so inflexible in any situation and the staff are buzzkills. When we were making a glitter craft in one of the museums I asked if I could write my daughters name in glitter instead of the marker and the lady goes "hahah no". Not to mention their little dinosaur activity for toddlers was so boring and the girl running it doesn't know how to interact with kids. Watch out for buying luminaria tickets and getting sick because you will be completely out your money, no option to even come later. I get having company popicies but these are coming off slimy and unforgiving. Will Not renew my membership. read more

Disappointed with their service. I purchased a membership last year and witnin a few weeks of attending, they shut down the entire IMAX theater for the duration of the year. They also never opened the cafe, both of these are at the Dinosaur museum. As a grandmother, I would take my granddaughter from Salt Lake City and that 3D movie was always a chance for us to rest a bit and enjoy a break so that we could 'play' longer! I felt jipped. They also charged members for the merry-go-round which was ridiculous, and they took a lot of flak for that. About 3/4 of the way through my first year, they finally offered that ride free of charge for members. I recently called to renew my membership and asked for a discount, given the above issues my first year. It took several weeks to get through to the membership department, and I finally reached the manager of another department who rudely informed me that she would refund my renewal from May (I forgot that I'd purchased a renewal during a promotion), and then informed me that they would not be offering any compensation for the closed cafe, movie theater, or money spent on the merry-go round. It's like having an annual pass at Disneyland and having access to Space Mtn and the Pirates ride complete shut down the entire time. Will not recommend this place to anyone, and if you do get a membership with Thanksgiving Point, just be aware that your business is not valued by them, and you will be treated with contempt and disrespect. read more

The museum of natural curiosity is the best place you could take your kids in all of Utah County. Every exhibit is so creative and full of little details of really interactive and mentally engaging activities for kids to do from small toddlers to bigger kids! There's SO much variety and you could honestly spend all day exploring. Ashton Gardens are beautiful, and they have fun events throughout the summer to add variety, like the tulip festival (the look of the gardens during this really isn't that different than normal in my opinion) and the dinosaur island event. The dinosaur museum is really well laid out to have a clear flow through the building with fun exhibits that ends at this big archaeology dig site for kids! Basically, you'll just never run out of things to do an see at all the museums here, and if you have an EBT card or annual pass, you can get in with a discount! read more

Thanksgiving Point is a great draw for all. They have lots of fun seasonal celebrations to change things up and offer something fun and interactive for everyone. Our favorite place to visit is hands down Ashton Gardens, we love to go for the Tulip and Scarecrow festivals and we will even go during the non seasonal celebration and just go to get a good walk in with the kiddos and go feed the fish. If you have children then I highly recommend getting the season pass so you can take them over there to run off their excess energy. read more

What exactly IS Thanksgiving Point? That's a hard question to answer. It's an event center, it's beautiful gardens, golf course, restaurants, movie theater, museum and petting zoo. It's a fun place that holds cool family activities. Yeah, that's it. Being that it is so large, beautiful and well maintained, it gives off a slight air of "eliteness". It's not a cheap place to visit. They do offer memberships, which may make visiting a little more affordable. But as an occasional visitor, plan to drop a pretty penny. I do love what they've done here and they've always got a cool event or two going on. I just wish it was a little more...diverse. It feels very "Utah county." If you don't know what that means, take a visit, then go visit a public space in downtown SLC. Not that one is better than the other, they just have different vibes. I would love to see more variety in cultural events or activities catered toward adults (a bar, maybe?) But if you're looking for a clean, safe and family friendly place to go-this is the place. read more

As a child, I thought Thanksgiving Point was meh. Now that it's grown and I've grown, this place is AWESOME! There's a world class dinosaur exhibition and the coolest children's museum I've ever seen in my life. From the tulips at Ashton Gardens to Brickhouse Salon to the Butterfly Biome to the farm to Cornbellys... Thanksgiving Point is EVERYTHING! It's the perfect place for children (of all ages). I bring my son here to learn and develop a deeper appreciation for nature. Their playgrounds/nature learning centers are GREAT. We love to play! We don't even live in Utah, and bought a membership. It's a great investment and Thanksgiving Point that special. 5 out of 5! read more

We surprised our kids with a winter wonderland weekend and it started with Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point. It was absolutely spectacular! Here's a couple tips we learned after our visit: you do NOT all need the VIP tickets. The hot chocolate is a good idea but you do NOT need unlimited The igloo was a great experience but it will not warm you up as much as you would like. DEFINITELY bundle up. The stay and play package IS worth it if your from out of town. You MUST visit at least once. The only reason I give 4 stars is because of pricing at Thanksgiving Point outside of Luminaria. We wanted to visit one of the museums the next morning but the price for us to get in was unreasonable, in our opinion. They price it to encourage memberships, which I understand but coming from out of town doesn't make sense to buy the membership. read more

If you have a day to spend here, do it. They have a great one-day admission special that allows you to visit all 5 areas. Although some areas are better than other, we were not disappointed with the overall experience. To get down to specifics, I'll rank the areas according to our group of 1 adult and three children ages 6-12. 1. Museum of Natural Curiosity - if you have kids, come here first. Don't let the name fool you. It is 100% kid-centred fun. We actually came here last and wished we would have done it all the other way around. We should have spend most of our time here. For adults, it's still pretty fun. 2-3 hrs. 2. Butterfly Biosphere - Neat experience if you've never done it before. It is harder to hold a butterfly go on you hand than you would think but once you do, you realize it was worth the effort. Know that it is warm and humid in here and if that bothers you or you're not an insect fan, this isn't for you. Also, the displays outside the biosphere are only ok but there is a play area for younger children that's fun. Otherwise, just come for the butterflies. 1-2 hrs. 3. Ashton Gardens - this area is large and if we would have known, we would have left it to last. We went here first and it got hot being out here at noon! The koi fish are fun to see down at the pond. They jump and swim all over each other for food. You can buy some at the admission desk or have quarters on you for the dispensers. This area has huge waterfalls which were amazing to see up close. They even have a recreation of The Secret Garden. There is also a statue garden showing life-size scenes from Jesus' life. If you're into that sort of thing, it was well worth seeing. I liked the Gardens but the kids were kind of board after we passed the fish. 1.5-2.5 hrs. 4. Farm Country - the last two are almost a toss up which is better. The farm wins out if you have kids as they can ride ponies as part of the admission. They can also feed chickens (bring quarters) and, if you time it right, milk a cow. Watch the schedule for that so you don't miss it. The tractor ride around the area was a little long but we did see deer along the way. The buildings and the displays here are lacking so stick with the animals and move on. 1-1.5 hrs 5. Museum of Ancient Life - this is a dinosaur museum. Coming from Alberta, the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller does it better but if you've never been, you'll never know the difference. I found this building had a few memorable displays but overall was showing its age. Their is a fun water and sand area for kids. For dining, take a break mid-day and go to a nearby restaurant. There are plenty to choose from within a 5-15 min drive. You'll need to drive anyway as the kid-friendly Natural Curiosity and the Gardens are together in one area while the other three venues are about 5-10 min away. If you're looking for other activities, for an extra fee, there are also movie theatres and a golf course on site. That's it. Have fun! read more

I live about 57 1/2 paces from Thanksgiving Point and it is one of the many reasons I don't ever want to move. Thanksgiving Point provides amenities year-round that everyone will appreciate. Earlier this year, I got to go over to Ashton Gardens and check out all the tulips. This was an incredible experience--so much cooler than I ever could've imagined. It is such a beautiful, peaceful place. I loved that they also had all kinds of vendors and live music while I was there. I would love to go back for an event at the amphitheater that is in Ashton Gardens--I really love the waterfall in the background and it is a pretty large area. Ashton Gardens was also very diverse, they had sculptures, they had pavilions, they had all kinds of "extras" within their massive garden. I plan on making a trip to Ashton Gardens tradition. Another time that I have been able to experience Thanksgiving Point was during the Fourth of July. It was another incredible experience but was noticeably more crowded than the garden event. They had the Fourth of July show right in Electric Park and I think they needed a bigger park lol. Parking and traffic was an absolute disaster, especially after the show. Pedestrians and cars were all trying to go every which direction. The amenities during the show were pretty awesome. They had all kinds of food trucks and then Thanksgiving Point themselves was there to serve people with their typical food. I was able to get a dole whip and I thought it was pretty tasty! Their cheeseburger meal was pretty good too. On top of that, I didn't think it was horribly overpriced and the line was much shorter than the lines for the food trucks. The fireworks show itself was incredible--they were absolutely MASSIVE fireworks. Thanksgiving point lit off the fireworks many other nights too and it was awesome because I could see and hear it from my bedroom! I look forward to exploring more of the amenities that Thanksgiving Point has to offer. From Trellis Cafe, to Harvest restaurant, to the butterfly pavilion, to the animals, to the dinosaur themed events...there is so much to experience! read more

Great for small kids. My 12 and 9 yr olds were the oldest kids we saw today at the butterfly exhibit. Mostly young families with babies and toddlers were there. The exhibits are geared for the youngest visitors. My 6 yr old enjoyed the xl bugs to climb on. They also have a 2 story curly slide. We liked the butterfly enclosure. There were many active butterflies all around. The temp inside the pavilion is kept at a humid 90 degrees. We also visited the glass studio but it's not for the youngest visitors. read more

How do you even begin to write a review for such a multi-faceted and sprawling place? I mean, it's so many different things, you can't really encapsulate it all at once, you know? I guess we can just offer a bullet list of some of the many things that are found here, and you can get some kind of an idea of what it's all about. Show Barn - I've been to a play here, and also to a conference type meetup. It's not a barn, really, except that it looks like a barn on the outside but animals don't live anywhere inside. Gardens - These are expansive and host the tulip festival each spring, and quite lovely. Museum of Ancient Life - All about them dinosaurs and other ancient life. Great for kids. They also have an IMAX where they show the educational type productions. Restaurants - TBH I've never eaten here. But there's a simple stop with ice cream and such, and then a much fancier restaurant next to it. Farm Country - Again, I haven't been, but it seems a little small-ish. Probably okay as it's aimed to the little kids. Golf Course - I haven't played it, but I've driven it in a golf cart. It's a long story, but I can say that it's a really gorgeous course, and your big challenge could be the wind, depending on the day. Museum of Natural Curiosity - This one is newer, and I also haven't been, but it has me... well curious. Megaplex Theater - You know, a movie theater. There's always a ton going on here. They have a big ol' grassy area out back where they often have festivals or other events going on. Check the calendar. You may also want to look at their website or look through Yelp for the other listings for specific features. There's separate entrance fees for everything, and you'll want to look into it before you go. The grounds are very well maintained, and it's not uncommon to see wedding parties, as they host a lot of them. It's amazing that this is here in the first place (built by the first profits of early Silicon Slopes entrepreneurship) and it's been well maintained over the years of its existence. read more

Thanksgiving Point is exactly what mindset you bring with you. It can be an amazing adventure going back in time to the Jurassic period, or a stroll through a fairy wonderland of the world's butterflies fluttering about you. It can be a garden walk surrounded by spring tulips or a Christmas evening awash in lights and reminders of the season. The kiddos will love the petting zoo and seeing the chickens and lambs. The Holdman studios showcase and make world class stained glass and the IMAX theater will blow your mind with several stories of high definition cinema and a phenomenal sound system. I've been to weddings here. Events, like the Scottish Highland games and more, and just wandered sometimes because it's one of the very few places of interest in Utah Valley, American Fork/Lehi. However, if you're a pretentious a'hole, who expects staff to kiss your butt, thrills like Universal Studios, 5 Star dining and accommodations like the Ritz Carlton, and events like Times Square on New Years or a rave at Burningman prepare to be disappointed. No one is going to give you white glove service, Vegas style parking valets, two-thousand dollar bottles of wine and VIP passes. Brad Pitt isn't going to be there and the Queen of England has probably never heard of the place. Yes there are going to be kids and families and crowds. The same draw that made you come here attracted others. What a surprise. That's why Thanksgiving Point was created, for kids and families. I heard Palm Springs doesn't have many kids. Pack your UHaul. Yes, during Luminaria, you are going to see religious objects, (dumbass) it is a celebration of Christmas, a religious holiday, maybe you've heard of it. And yes, during the tulip festival and other outdoor events it is dependent upon weather, and you are taking that chance. We have 4 seasons in Utah. This ain't San Diego mofo. Thanksgiving Point was the answer to a small town place to gather when American Fork was still fields of grain and sunsets over Utah Lake. Californians pretty much mutated that, so take it for what it was, and still tries to be. Thanksgiving Point was there fulfilling dreams before you were here , so if you want to pay the exorbitant price of other entertainment please move back to wherever you moved here from and pay it. Pricey place, especially if you have a big family. Museums are fun for the kids, the living farm too. Gardens are not as photogenic or densely planted as some big city gardens (except at tulip time), but they are well maintained, have acres of manicured grass, and it's large enough you can find a private spot and just chill. The waterfall area is cool, but I wish you could interact with them more, like with a bridge or a tunnel under a spillway. They have summer concerts here, but they're always expensive. Tip: most areas have free days, check their website calendar. But expect TONS of people with long one hour plus lines. Arrive early so you can get in before closing. read more
