I ordered their Fried Chicken Leg on Top, served with Fried Rice for only CDN$9.00 on their Lunch Menu. Even though I was dining in, it was served in a takeout container that was packed full of food. It was heavy! Opening the box revealed a ton of food, packed to almost overflowing. This was not a case of them using a small box. It was packed! After being impressed with the portion size, especially for the price, I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the flavour. The chicken was fine but the fried rice was just kinda blah. It had no "wok hei". It needed a much hotter wok. It wasn't terrible but it definitely wasn't good. The ambiance is simple and sparse, with bare walls and minimal decor. It looks like it may have been a bit more posh at one time. At least it was clean and bright.

The chili chicken had a lot of flavour, and was nice and crispy. We also had a chicken pakora that was amazing. The chicken was so juicy and flavourful, and the outside was so nice and crispy too. The staff are efficient, and the overall atmosphere was chill, even though it was very busy.

The flavour of the Chana, okra, and one other vegetarian dish were all really good. Even the appetizers hit! Looking forward to ordering some meat dishes the next time I'm there.

Scarborough has a lot of Indian food places to choose from. I picked here for their high reputation and the convenience. They have free parking space in front of them. Even during the rush hour, there's a space. I knew it as I drive by every day for my commute. Perfect for pick-up after a busy day at work! Their channa masala is great! Big portion, came with a cup of rice. Gravy is thick, hearty. The chickpeas are soft enough to easily mash on the tongue but still keep their shape and very very slight nutty crunchatvthe very core. Delicate. Perfect balance of savory Gravy and peas. They have spice level options. I chose medium plus. I liked it but thought the spice may be overpowering the natural taste of other players. Will try lower spice level next time. Will visit here more to try other dishes!!

I noticed Li's Hakka No. 1 Restaurant next door. I flagged it in my head, as I have a thing for Hakka food. Two Sundays ago, I was out running errands. I needed lunch. I remembered this eatery and placed a takeout order through Skip the Dishes. I ordered while I was in the Beaches. It took perhaps ten minutes to drive over to this restaurant. I was ten minutes early. I got to the parking lot and backed into a spot. I then watched a pickup truck make his own parking spot in front of me. The car next to mine had quite the task of getting out of his spot to leave the lot. Why are some folks so inconsiderate when it comes to parking and blocking others? When my order was ready, I headed inside. To my left was a male staff member chowing down. The restaurant is deep and spacious. I headed to the counter to speak to a woman. I indicated my order with Skip the Dishes and she handed me my order. I thanked her as I took photos like I generally do. I drove home and had a late lunch at nearly 3 pm. I ordered the following items: - Chilli chicken with a side of steamed rice - Pan-fried chicken dumplings (10) Let's start with the chicken dumplings. The searing on the dumplings was excellent. It wasn't overdone, but had a lot of flavour. The wrapper is thicker than normal, but it works to protect the filling from bursting out. The chicken filling was delicious. It has the right amount of saltiness from the soy. I liked the green onion with the chicken. It came with dipping sauce that was more on the vinegar-acidic side. Whenever I visit a new Hakka place, the dish that I tend to order as my baseline is chilli chicken. As expected, the default is dark meat with gravy. It's perfect for my liking. You pay more to get white meat and get it dry. The chicken was tender. The gravy was flavourful with lots of chopped chillis. The spice level was just the way that I like it. It's spicy enough that you get the heat, but it doesn't overpower the spices in the sauce. The chicken morsels were lightly battered before mixed with the gravy. My only issue, which was unfortunate, was with the steamed rice. It came in a styrofoam container. I basically plopped the rice onto my plate. I witnessed what was either a single eyelash or eyebrow hair at the bottom of the container, which was now the focal point on my mound of rice. I scooped out the rice around the lash or whatever it was, and continued with my meal. I don't think that I've ever done that before. I'm still alive and haven't grown a third leg. My favourite dish is spicy garlic chicken. This place has it. I want to give that a try next and hope that my steamed rice looks normal. (57)

What got me to drop by this eatery and do takeout was a doubles BOGO deal on Uber Eats. I had a wonderful first experience that I returned for more. My first order consisted of these items: - Lamb doubles (BOGO) - Small chow mein with jerk chicken My second order was similar, except that I went with shrimp doubles. The BOGO deal on my doubles was still available. Uber Eats gave me an estimated time of ten minutes to have my order ready both times. I got there well after the stated ready time. Kish's is in a plaza with other eateries. I had no problems backing into a parking spot both times. I walked in. The first time, the woman behind the counter was on the phone. I waited patiently for her call to terminate before I let her know that I had an Uber Eats order. She was so friendly. She nodded and got my order. I thanked her and left. The second time I was there, it was clear that she was in the kitchen preparing food. I waited a bit without dinging the bell on the table. A man came in and thought it was weird that I didn't ding the bell. It was clear that service wouldn't be faster if she was the only staffer handling everything. Two of her colleagues were hauling in beverages from their minivan that was parked next to my car. The same woman came over. She was still her friendly self. I got my order and thanked her. The man wanted a double. He asked how long it would take. He definitely was in a rush. I was happy to leave. Each double was wrapped carefully in paper, with both ends twisted to seal everything in. The doubles were then placed in a paper bag. The paper bag eventually became damp due to condensation. It was amazing to me that none of the sauce oozed out. The lamb doubles were amazing. There were generous chunks of lamb with chickpeas. The meat wasn't gamey. It was tender and yummy. Everything was flavourful and perfectly done. The double was fluffy. It was delightful to eat this double... er, twice. I recently had the shrimp ones. You get whole shrimp in each double. It was also yummy. I enjoyed the change with shrimp that were done right. No rubbery shrimp. Each was also full of flavour. I got the small chow mein jerk chicken because I didn't know how filling I'd be eating the doubles alone. This meal felt more like a large order. I loved it so much the first time that I ordered the same thing again. It's not the al dente chow mein noodles that make this dish. They were enjoyable to eat because they were chewy and shorter in length than you'd expect regular chow mein to be in Chinese dishes. It's the jerk chicken that is the main event. OMG! It's awesome jerk chicken. It was flavourful with all the spices. The chicken was boneless and so tender that you could tear it apart with your fork. It was such a comforting dish. It was nice to have corn in the chow mein. So good. I ended up splitting this order into two meals. I'd have a double with half my chow mein jerk chicken. I'd do it again the following day. The flavours sink in even more a day later. There is a lot of seating at this eatery. One of these days, I'll sit down and check it out. It's a nice change to have this eatery close by my workplace. I can see myself having lunch here when it's not super crazy at work. Otherwise, I am perfectly fine grabbing takeout, especially after work. The food is excellent. Staff are nice and hard-working. I love the food and service here. I'll be back again for more good eats. (354)
