Conveniently located just 5 minutes from our hotel, Thaicoon is in an Asian-focused shopping area. Parking is challenging depending on when you go. First time here and was preliminarily pleased at such a temperature-controlled room this was. It was 90 outside and probably 70 inside. We were seated and ordered quickly. Also enjoyed all-weekend-long happy hour specials. I ordered beers and pad Thai. The pad Thai was HUGE. Great flavor and cooked well. I shared some and everyone agreed it was good. Win! read more

My friend and I came here for a early dinner and loved how cute it looked on the inside! We were quickly seated and was really surprised by the extensive menu and that they had a happy hour menu that included the weekends. The happy hour menu had a lot of options for drinks and for appetizers, but we still decided to order off the main menu. We decided to try the crab Rangoon which was perfectly fried and was stuffed with cream cheese filling! We also got the green curry, and the pad kee mao which came out at a spice level of three and packed a really good heat. It felt like these two dishes were pretty authentic tasting and definitely hit my Thai craving. I also really loved the really big portions and they served the food with a robot which I thought was really cool. A great spot for Thai food lovers with a full bar! The food was excellent, service was good, and the ambiance was vibrant. It was our first visit, and my family loved it. The food here was just okay--nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Unfortunately, the service really affected the experience. It took about 45 minutes for our appetizer to come out, and oddly enough, it arrived after the main course, which was pretty disappointing. Decent happy hour location in the Katy area. Stumbled upon this place randomly while shopping in the K-town shopping area, they have a $6 happy hour which we decided to check out. The restaurant itself is a bit dark and has lots of random decor. The service was decent, nothing too extraordinary. Not too big a fan of their appetizers (calamari was chewy and likely frozen and their pad Thai pig ear was a big tough/hard to eat) but their pad Thai is one of the better ones I've had; their beef is actually very tender and pretty tasty compared to some other spots with more suspiciously chewy beef. Been to this place multiple times as it is one of my go to place for good Thai food. Service is always friendly and pleasant. I've liked everything I've ordered here. My favorite dishes to get are the Blooming Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). I have enjoyed their Panang Curry and Millionaire Mussels. Thaicoon 10-28-2025 We have always enjoyed Thaicoon and their many GF options , but today was absolutely the best dining experience. (Helped make up for the terrible breakfast experience at Toasted Yolk this morning. ) The food was fabulous as always, but we also happened to be eating during happy hour. The waiter delivered great service, the food came out fast, fresh, and fantastic, and drinks were so good. We stopped an employee walking by and asked for the happy hour drink menu again. He not only obliged quickly with a smile, but he enthusiastically answered questions we had about some of the drinks. We didn't know he was the bartender, but that explained his explicit knowledge of the drinks. But his joy and enthusiasm describing the drinks was not just a bartender answering questions. He was excited about his drinks and the drinks we ordered were amazing. We reflected on our terrible breakfast experience and this was such a totally wonderful dining experience we decided we should talk to the manager and give kudos to everyone who helped us. It turns out the manager was not in that night. That just speaks volumes to how great that manager must be to have a staff so customer focused and striving for such perfection because they care, and not because the manager is watching. I was so enticed by the idea of the pad Thai in the egg I had to get it. I have to be sooo real it was baddd. It was veryyy sweet and the noodles were very stuck together. But I love the vision lol. Tried Thaicoon in Katy during happy hour and it absolutely delivered. We were seated at a table (bar area looked great too -- sleek and inviting for a future visit). The happy hour menu is where they shine. We ordered the firecracker shrimp, basil calamari, fish delights, and money bags (crab rangoons). Every appetizer came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The firecracker shrimp had just the right kick, and the money bags disappeared faster than I'd like to admit. We paired everything with a couple of Old Fashioneds, which were well-balanced and properly made -- always appreciated. For the entrée, I ordered the shrimp pad c-ew, and it hit the spot. Fresh ingredients, great texture on the noodles, and generous shrimp. And then came dessert -- mango sticky rice. Let me save you time: order it. It's a must-have. Wow, I had a few stars less before only because the spicy heat was not full as requested. That written, they are just concerned about delivery customers having a heart attack. This is, hands down, the very very best thai restaurant in Katy area. First off, Thaicooon is almost part sports bar with a little extra fancy thrown in. We were seated quickly. Service could have been better as our waitress disappeared in between when the food was delivered and we were eating. It took a while to find her to get boxes and the bill. The food was the best part of Thaicoon. The sample platter with money bags, egg rolls and some kind of meat pie was hot and fresh. The pad Thai came in a little egg omelette bowl. It was a bit too tomatoey for me. I loved the pork bell6 and Chinese broccoli. It had great texture and the gai lan was tender and not tough like other restaurants. Thaicoon could have easily been a 5 star, but I found out when I got the bill that there was a 20% upcharge for 6 people. The sauce was alright but fish quality could be improved. Happy hour chicken bits 2/10. You will need the sauce and make sure it is cooked because it was still frozen in the middle at first. My favorite were the scallops, the sauce with it was so good. I also liked the salmon skin, but wish it came with rice, bc it was too salty eating by itself. There's a robot that delivers your food! Enough said... While the robot is a highlight, the real highlight is the food. Thaicoon is located in Katy Asiatown surrounded by lots of new restaurants to add to the impressive Houston food scene. The inside is spacious with a mix of booths and tables. There is also a full bar inside. We ordered thai fried rice with chicken, pad thai with chicken, and red curry with chicken. Chicken overload! Thai fried rice was amazing. Bursting with flavor, the dish had moist rice, juicy chicken, onion, carrots, and more. All the flavors came together and had a party. Pad thai was a classic. This dish came with the noodles wrapped in a soft egg blanket rather than having egg cooked directly in with the noodles. This is the second time I have seen this presentation and I like it. Lime, peanuts, and chili sauce come on the aide so you can adjust as you like. The noodles were cooked al dente, delicious. By the time I got to the curry dish, I was almost stuffed. But I still managed a few butes because it was so yummy. The curry was thick and rich and coated every oiece of chicken inside. Ordering medium spicy definitely left a kick in my mouth. Ambiance: large, open seating area. Quite music playing in the background. TV with sports playing. Open bar area with seating. Booths and tables for small and larger parties. Booth tables have legs that make getting in and out of booths nearly impossible and the table lip is far from actual seat so you have to sit on the edge of your seat to reach your food. Service: Think Molasses speed. There are five workers that I can see in the front. One girl is stuck behind the bar. One guy actively working, running food, taking orders, and asking if people need help. The others keep disappearing. We didn't get our check until nearly 15-20 mins after asking for boxes and couldn't flag anyone down cause they were MIA. I had to go and get some to ask to pay. There was a cool robot that delivered food to tables and that was the fastest service (food came out fast). Food: We ordered medium spicy on two out of three of our dishes, but they weren't really spicy at all. You never know with Thai places, so we went to the middle, but I would recommend going a lot higher for any kick. The Pad Thai (no spice level) was very sweet but good. The yellow curry had a ton of bell peppers, onions, and meat and had a great texture to it. The portion size was big but only comes with a small bowl of white rice. Additional bowls of white rice were $3 each or $5 for "fried rice" (rice tossed with soy sauce and sprinkled with scallions/green onions on top). We ordered to eat family style, but it was hard to do so at the restaurant. They gave us small plates to eat from and no bowls. It was more designed for individual eating than family style. They gave the kids paper plates, which we commandeered to eat off of and gave the kids the smaller bowls that the rice came in. We have had orders to go before and we liked it. I stopped by here for dinner on a Saturday night and while the plaza overall was pretty crowded and there was a wait, it wasn't bad at all. We waited about 10 minutes before getting seated and I appreciate the hard work the servers did to service everyone, even when they were short staffed. I want to give a quick shout out to the workers there since they were cross trained and did their best to make sure food came out on time, and everyone wasn't kept waiting for too long. As for the food, I loved the portion sizes here and how delicious it all was. We tried the yellow curry (3/5), it was very creamy and delicious, but a bit too creamy for me. My favorite was the lobster pad thai (5/5) with a giant portion of noodles, a lobster tail, and shrimp. The flavor was great and the added seafood worked really well with it. We also got their weekend special of the soft shell crab which was fried and had a really great flavor as well. I would definitely venture back here for pad thai. read more
