Fast and fresh! Packaging was solid (important when you order curry / soups!) and the folk who took our oder at the truck were super friendly. We ordered Pad Thai and a chicken curry dish. The curry was made at a 3+ on the spicy level, and was indeed pretty spicy. Would have liked a few more veggies in the curry mix, but there were generous portions of chicken and rice. The Pad Thai had lots of noodles, fresh vegetables that had wonderful texture and plenty of peanuts and chicken for protein. We hired Thai-U-Up food truck to cater our wedding this past summer and it was AMAZING! Prices were very reasonable, and the food was delicious--we got lots of comments from our guests about how it was the best wedding food they'd ever had! Overall the process for hiring, choosing menu, contract, and set-up all went smoothly, although communication was a little unclear at times. I loved that they left us the leftovers as well--we kept them out and people snacked on it throughout the night. My parents really enjoy ordering from the food truck normally as well--they kept going back insisting they needed another "taste test" before the wedding. I'm a bit skeptical of food trucks that serve sit-down fare, my opinion is that generally trucks and carts are most suitable for carryable food like tacos and hot dogs. I've seen the great reviews on Yelp, and the Seattle Magazine shout-out in their "where chefs dine out" article, so I figured it was high time I tried it. Ordered the Eggplant dish, which was good but not great. The eggplant was overcooked, as were some of the bell peppers, and flavor-wise it was too heavy on the salt, too light on the herbs. The spice level was a little weaker than I expected, but no biggie. I ate it in the car, so the overcooked veggies cannot be blamed on a long wait. I will definitely try them again, though, if I happen to be driving by and hungry. I chose probably the most difficult-to-get-right dish on the menu, as eggplant turns mushy without much encouragement. The true rating of my meal is 2.5 stars, but I rounded up in part because other reviewers are blasting them for the poor service of a 3rd-party delivery service, which is just brutal. A plus here is that you don't have to pay extra for rice, so value is pretty good at $8. Food service is crazy fast, which you should account for when you order - don't take your sweet time getting there if you call in an order, or it will be sitting there waiting for you to arrive! This is a hard review to write. I have to admit that when I first pulled the food out of the delivery bag I was tempted to give this two stars because of my complaints below, but after tasting the food and putting into consideration that this is a food truck, I have to go four stars. Nice preparation, great sauces, nicely fried pot stickers, and big shrimp. This is good-tasting food! So why did I almost give a much lower rating? Given the good prices and the fact that it is a food truck that delivers for free (WOW), it is a good value, but be aware of the following two things: 1) They are a little light on the protein. We ordered the shrimp curry and paid $2 extra for extra shrimp. We only got seven shrimp. If this was a restaurant I would be annoyed, but even after the extra cost this was only $13. 2) They are light on the rice. This is a big pet peeve of mine (check out my review of restaurant 88) because it is such a cheap ingredient. We got a takeout container that was only about 2/3 full of rice, barely enough for two of us tonight, with nothing left to eat with the leftovers. They do give rice for free and you can get extra rice for $1 so, in my opinion, if you want a proper portion, pay the extra dollar. read more

good option to have in west seattle, quick simple...sometimes they dont make spicy enough and have forgotten my drink. so i stopped ordering drinks (thai ice tea) we normally get phad thai with tofu or chicken which is good and tasty. potstickers for my toddlers which are gone fast..not sure if they make them from scratch? that would be good to know..i should ask! my bf loves the volcano chicken which is usually the main reason we choose to eat here vs other thai places in west seattle. its nice crispy and tasty when its done right but we have had a couple times where there we asked for 5 stars which is highest and it was barely spicy at all. yellow curry is ok but i prefer other restaurants because they offer more veggies in theirs..here is a lot of sauce/curry and not many veggies or variety of veggies. so again its a good option but we mainly go here when my bf wants the volcano chicken read more

When they first started showing up on Roxbury, I was impressed. The food was fresh, flavorful, and priced well. The service was friendly too. However, this truck has taken a serious nose dive. First: it just doesn't look dirty, it is dirty, very dirty. The food buckets are splattered with grime and old food bits, and the truck itself has crap oozing out of it. The food is horrible and they are cooking meat/veggies/fish in the same pans. Imagine getting tofu that tastes like seafood!!!!! Nasty. The flavors are not good or balanced: tastes like Panda Express. The young Asian boy taking orders is a fucking joke and needs to get off his cell phone, stop visiting with friends, and start acknowledging customers. Just had their panang curry combo and a thai iced tea for lunch at the S. Lake Union stop on Mondays. The thai iced tea was good - happy to pay $2 for it. The pad thai is more goopy/saucy than I care for but I ate it all. The panang curry was OK. It was simply missing something; just a kick of more flavor. Otherwise I was happy with it. For $8 for the panang curry combo, you actually get quite a bit of curry. I only ate a fraction of it and will finish the rest at dinner. By no means a cheap lunch but the value is definitely there compared to other food trucks. Will definitely give this food truck another visit since it's conveniently located right outside where I work; I'm looking forward to trying their pad kee mao, tom yum & tom ka soups, and the garlic chicken. I'll update this review once I do. Update 10/14/2013: Had my second shot with the truck. Got garlic chicken and am eating it as I type this review. The chicken is *really* good; I like it a lot. Let's start with saying the taste was superb. The Panang Curry, is really really tasty and just the right amount of spiciness. The two things that drop them down in my opinion are the considerations for eating the food as they are a good truck. They served the curry in two packages, one for the curry and another for the rice, without room in either package to mix the rice and curry. Major oversight. I had heard a lot about this place and decided to try it out, so I ordered through Ubereats. I ordered the Volcano chicken with a side of rice because it was the one I had heard the most about. Everything pertaining to the delivery was fine; the food came promptly. It was what I discovered afterwards that made this entire experience terrible for me. First things first, the meat was cold; a lot colder than I would have believed for a 30 minute drive. Secondly, the rice smelled awful and I noticed along the bottom that there were brown stains on the rice. I was trying so hard not to throw up this is so disgusting. The Thai-U-Up truck appears in SLU for lunch on Wednesday and Thursday, which are the only times I've eaten it. I pretty much always get the Panang Curry. I think the portion size is good, and it's a great value (I think with tax, mine comes out to $8.75). The truck is pretty fast, although usually when we go in a group, one person's food takes strangely long. They now accept credit cards, which means I don't have to worry about carrying cash. The woman taking orders is always really friendly, and the food is always pretty decent. This may be stating the obvious but Thai-U-Up (the Roxbury location) is a food truck! I'm a huge fan of food trucks so I was pleasantly surprised. At the time they don't take cards which can be a pain but the food is well worth finding some cash. The food: awesome Spring rolls: you get 5 with a clear dipping sauce. They were crispy and not oily which is a huge plus. Pad See Ew (2spice rating): I personally don't like things too spicy and this was perfect! It had good flavor and the right amount of sauce. I don't have a lot of experience with Thai food (pad thai is not my thing), but Thai-U-Up has been a great introduction to Thai cuisine. The crispy garlic chicken is great - the just-right crisp and the mmmm-good sauce. I'd love MORE sauce on it, but always forget to ask. The icing on the cake is that they deliver! I ordered Pad Thai with chicken and Penang Curry with chicken, level 3 spiciness. Both were excellently made. Sometimes restaurants have a funny taste with the pad Thai, or it is too wet or too dry, this one was perfect spice, wetness, and sweet, and not too much fish sauce. The chicken in both dishes was soft, almost melted in my mouth. They dont serve sticky rice, I suppose that would be difficult to make in a food truck. But both dishes came with jasmine rice also cooked perfectly. They only take cash. read more

3.5 Stars - I'm ordering here like almost every Sunday for the past 2 years. Food tastes good but I noticed, that the portions get less and less. For example Pad Thai and Panang Curry I could have ate twice from a year ago, now it just fills me up at once. Prices went up, and portions get smaller and smaller :? Also they stopped to offer my favorite dish Broccoli Delight. They told me a couple month ago it is about the high prices for Broccoli, and it will come back on the menu but still it didn't. It makes the menu quite boring if you eat there every week. Also I had once a piece of metal wire in my food, maybe something what was holding together the vegis, I don't know, I didn't tell them, it happened just once. But now the disappointments adding up. Maybe they could do more generous portions again, and add 2-3 more choices to their menu, then I'll gladly update my feedback here. Thanks Update 2/27: Broccoli delight is finally back on the menu, so I updated to 4 Stars but the portion still getting tinier, no good, I'm still hungry. Update 4/23: Their prices just went up for all dishes (again). For the broccoli delight I think to remember I paid like $8.50 two years ago, then last year $9,50 and last night $11,25. So the greed has arrived here, so my stars go down. It is getting to pricey for food from a food truck and tiny portions, will go elsewhere from now on. Also yelp needs to update this "Price range Under $10" - this applies no more... I'm confused. Those high prices appeared on eat24.com last night. Thai-U-Up catered our wedding for 165 guests in Cle Elum, WA on the 12th of this month. I can't get over how fantastic of a job they did. We asked them to cater because we wanted a unique menu for our wedding, not to mention they were incredibly affordable (especially since we asked them to travel to central Washington). From our first time contacting them, up until the wedding, they were wonderful to work with and very enthusiastic to provide the exact service we wanted. Our guests raved about the Spring Rolls and Pot Stickers they served at cocktail hour and absolutely loved the Pad Thai, Pad See Lew, Crispy Garlic Chicken, veggies, and rice that was served for dinner. My dad, who is very particular about food, said it was the best Pad Thai he has ever had. Thai-U-Up also provided wonderful service during the event and gifted us with an incredibly beautiful floral arrangement that perfectly matched our decor. We look forward to eating from their food truck often, and 100% recommend them to anyone looking for an event caterer. read more

I really like this place. The owners are great and I love having a food option like this so close to home. The food can be slightly inconsistent, but within an acceptable range. I find the food to be quite a good value (quality + quantity / price)...at least for Seattle. I had one issue with an order, and the owners resolved it above and beyond what they needed to do...really shows that they care. They really want you to enjoy your food and have a good experience. My first time having some of this was at the Capitol hill block party. I'm here for the weekend to review some local bands. I saw the food truck parked in the back of the Mexican restaurant across the street from Nuemos. I saw what a young blonde seattle hipster ordered. "Please help me eat this, it would be a shame for it to go to waste," She told her buddies. Her face was greasy with delight as she shared the goodness with her friends. It was the garlic chicken. The delivery service was great it was 20 minutes earlier than expected the garlic chicken still had a crisp to it and the pad Thai flavor was there with a great amount of spice.
