ABSOLUTELY the best Thai i've ever had..everything on the menu is authentic. I've ordered from Thai Tyme a few times now. But tonight's order.. they forgot the spring rolls.. I received my order through a third party tonight. I ordered a plethora off of the menu. I didn't realize until about 20 min later I didn't have the rolls. Unbeknownst, i hear a knock at my door and it's a sweet man. 3.5 stars First visit; Very nice meal. Duck roll, Satay Crispy duck, Chicken in a nest. All very good, but could stand to have a little more heat (spice). Service was very good, the restaurant is very cozy and welcoming, and the prices are very reasonable, even on beer and wine. After multiple visits, and the most recent Covid carry out, I would like to compare Thai Thyme to my other local Thai restaurant, which is about the same distance from home. Dining: Thai Tyme has a larger dining room, and a more pleasing ambience, which lends to a better dining experience. The service is very good, courteous, efficient and friendly. The "other"restaurant has a very small dining room which is not at all intimate. The service there, while courteous and efficient, has a "This is a family business and I have to do this for Mom and Pop" vibe. Courteous, but not very happy. Food: Hands down, Thai Tyme is the loser here. Mind you, the food is good, it's just not as good as the other restaurant. They tend to cut back on the heat, and add the sweet. Maybe they're trying to appeal to the American palette. The "other"restaurant has better flavor, larger portions and better presentation. Anytime I try out a new Thai place, I get panang curry chicken with fresh rolls. The way I see it, if they can't make my favorite dish right, they can't make the others right. I ordered take out from here, and when I went in I was surprised at how beautiful the decorations are in the restaurant! They definitely have a romantic and comforting atmosphere going on! Now for the food. The bean sprouts in my fresh rolls were pretty brown, not the crispy freshness I'm used to. But that could be because they were in the same bag with my hot curry, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. My curry was a very large portion, definitely a good bang for your buck! I ordered it medium spicy, but my panang was super sweet and tasted like they used a ton of coconut milk. Probably the best Thai delivery food in Manassas. Our favorites are the Drunken Noodle Chicken, Green Curry Chicken, and Pad Thai Shrimp. Appetizer is the Tom Yum Shrimp soup. Very dissatisfied with our lunch today. First after they took our order we were informed that no lunch menu at 11:30 am because it was a Holiday. So every item on menu was dinner pricing. I have enjoyed many lunches and dinners here but today was not the case. The food was not good as in we left a full plate on the table bad!! No salad provided as stated in menu for lunch but each entree was priced higher. When I asked our waitress about if there was a new cook she would not answer but the dish my granddaughter ordered was HORRIBLE. The food tasted awful... I had very high expectations, since we had previously dined in before. And the first time we went the food was very yummy. But this time around the food had a very burnt taste to it. As if the bottom of the food had burned but they only gave us the top portion of it. We also ordered duck and it was super salty! We eat Thai food very often. My 5 year old mentioned to us that the food did not taste right! And she loves Thai food!but we just could not eat it. We will not be visiting again. We did bring our concerns to them. They were kind enough to only charge us for the drinks, papaya salad, and I think the pad Thai. (We had ordered duck basil, pad Thai, beef fried rice, chicken satay, curry puffs, beef drunken noodles, and papaya salad) We did appreciate that very much! read more

I enjoyed everything about this place. We were a party of 10 at 6pm on a Saturday evening. There were customers at other tables but it wasn't too busy that early. Several in our party had never had Thai food before, so they took a bit longer to order and the staff was great at explaining what we wanted and was very patient taking our orders. We ordered drinks first as everyone was trying to decide what to order. We ordered a variety of appetizers, soup and entrees. As a larger party, our food came out as it was prepared instead of having it all sit back there getting cold so that it could be served all at once. We were fine with that. Everyone enjoyed what they had, some took home leftovers as the rice dishes were very large. I personally had Tom Kha soup and satay. Loved them both. The dipping sauces for the satay were fantastic, not too hot, not too sweet, just very flavorful. I had unsweetened iced tea to drink and it was fresh, light and refreshing. Service was excellent. No issues with 10 separate checks. Everyone's check was correct. It is very nicely decorated inside. Very clean, clean bathrooms. So we ordered delivery from this place. Service: Over the phone they were amazing. The man was super kind and patient. It's rare you get so much attentiveness throughout just the order process. Food: We order three things: beef drunken noodle, shrimp pad Thai, and crab fried rice. Beef Drunken Noodle: The flavor was good, amazingly not too oily. There was a nice kick of spice and beef was tender. The portion was really good for this. Shrimp Pad Thai: omg! The shrimp were huge and there were so many. I was so surprised! The pad Thai was so flavorful and really good. I just wish there were more bean sprouts. Portion for this was really good too. Crab Fried Rice: The top looked like just egg and I thought there were no crabs, but it was all under the egg! Chunks of crab meat. It was a good flavorful fried rice and I really enjoyed the texture. Portion was extremely large. I definitely recommend this place. Really bad experience from this restaurant. The fried rice was burned, meat was burned,also the basil was burned too. When you eat it, you feel so bitter and I just eat a little bit. The chicken wings have 6 inside but 5 of them is drum and only one middle wing. I don't think I'll order from here anymore. read more

We love this place! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that there are a few dishes to avoid (IMHO). I love that it's easy to get vegetarian meals by selecting the protein you want. The tofu in their dishes does not disappoint! My husband religiously gets the chicken fried rice. He loves it I have had the pad thai and fried rice yellow curry. I always want to try something else, but it's just so delicious. So much flavor, and the cashews and raisins take it to the next level. Dishes to avoid: when you order either spring rolls or summer rolls, you will get summer rolls (the ones with the noodles). Kind of annoying, because I really wanted ones loaded with veggies over the noodles but I just learned not to bother ordering them. Also, the pop pop shrimp. I cruised in on a Friday evening after work for some dinner. I really liked the look and feel from the get go. The owners have given a lot of thought to the design and Huang Jui of the place. The owners and staff are what make this place exceptional. I had the summer role to start...very fresh and tasty and a good size for one and easily shared with 2. Next came the Labb salad or spicy chicken salad, better known as Larb Ga. It was very spicy but good. For my main I had the mixed seafood curry. This was a hit, lot's of tasty and flavorful shrimp and scallops all stir fried with most excellent vegetables. I love me some Thai food, so we were excited to check this place out. Not pictures are the calamari which were delicious, highly recommend those. They weren't oily and very crispy. As for the green curry, I got it Thai spicy which mean extra hot. WARNING do not do this if you cannot handle spice. I clearly was not warned Bc this burnt my lips, not just mine my husbands too. As good a Thai restaurant as you could ask for. Family run, with great attention to customer service always. We normally get take-out here, but the few occasions doing eat-in were a success. Atmosphere is clean, roomy, and stylish. The menu is both standard fare and unique. The sweet and sour, for example, is different from others we've had over the years. The Pad Woonsen (cellophane noodles), Crying Tiger (spicy beef), and Sizzling Ginger with Chicken (delicious as it is simple) are favorites. We ordered 3 dishes: yellow curry, drunken noodles, and pad see ew (spicy level 4 on all dishes). Each dish came with a yummy side salad and a crispy spring roll. We loved everything! Let me start with the prices for lunch. The prices the lowest I have seen in the DMV. I'm not gonna say how much. You'll just need to visit to see. I am also very picky about Thai food. Living in Old Town Alexandria there are many Thai places. I would like to say they are heavily tailored to touristy palettes. Sauces are weaker. Flavors are dull. This place had very strong and powerful flavors! I ordered Drunken Noodle (Thai Spicy). They were delicious! Spicy wide noodles with generous pieces of beef. The veggies were wokked just right along with the rest of the dish! The Thai Tea I ordered was perfect. Not too sweet. My dish came out in lightning speed. Come here for lunch! My New Go To Thai Place I love Thai food. I had heard about this place. It's on the way to Precious' job so one day after work we stopped in there. It's in an older shopping center that includes a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, a McD's and I think a karate place is in there too. But when you walk in the door of Thai Tyme, it's a very, very nice sit-down restaurant. They have the seating and the kitchen in the back obviously. Right near the door is a bar. It's a full bar. You can get anything you want there. They have beers. A lot of Thai places like to have Thai beer. I've had lagers from all over Thai, Jamaican mon, China, Brazil, it's all pretty much the same. They also have, and this surprised me, a Brazilian drink called caipirinha. It means in Portuguese "little country girl" or "country bumpkin". I love caipirinhas. During the world cup in 2014 I got stoned to the bejesus every game drinking caipirinhas. Rock my world little country girl. Anyways, the food outstanding. What more can I say. The wait staff is very professional and friendly. The owner is a cool guy, and he'll make the rounds and talk to people. Precious goes through phases. About ten years ago she wanted Thai food once a week. Now it's about once a quarter, but with this nice place there I'm going to want to go more often. read more

First let me say something a bit strange to start a review but I think it's important. The establishment is spotlessly immaculate. We both started with a trip to the bathroom and speaking for the men's bathroom it was spotless. It smelled clean, the floor was clean, and the sink and fixtures were shiny. We were both impressed. But we don't visit a restaurant for the facilities and so.... We started out meal sharing an order of chicken satay. The chicken was well prepared and juicy and the sauce didn't have a big, strong peanut flavor but subtle along with mildly tangy sweetness. It also came with cucumber and sweet onions type condiment in a sugary vinegar liquid. A really nice start. For the main course I had crispy duck and she had crispy beef. Both were delicious. The duck was served at a medium heat... spicy but not too spicy... with a hint of sweetness. The beef was simply crispy beef without spice. Both the duck and the beef were VERY lightly beaded and then crisped. Both are served over a bed of crispy veggies. Not to ignore the staff, everyone was friendly, attentive, and very willing to address any question we had along with any of our needs. All in all we were both extremely pleased with our first visit and will most certainly return again soon to explore more of their menu. If you, like we, are looking for a new dining experience I can easily recommend you try them out. read more
