I love finding good mom and pop restaurants and this has definitely become one of my favorite Thai spots in the Valley! I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants and honestly the food here is so good. I actually liked it a lot more than Anajak lol. The food feels really comforting and home-cooked, not overly fancy, just really good Thai food. The shrimp fried rice is one of my favorites here, so flavorful and I love the shrimp in it. The pork BBQ ribs are super tender, the crispy pork is SO good, and the tom yum soup really hits the spot too. Everything we've ordered so far has been good. I've been here twice already and the second time I brought my boyfriend with me and he loved it too. I believe they open around 6 PM and stay open until 4 AM which is also amazing for a late night meal. Definitely one of my go to Thai spots now! read more

Thai Thai Café is a down home Thai eatery in a gas station much like Cilantro Mexican Grill in North Hollywood is in a Chevron. The big surprise is the pre-Pandemic closing hours of 3am 7 days a week! This should be a barfly's dream where you can party hearty and then go on to eat to wear off the alcohol. Nat is the friendly face who runs the front and does some cooking in the back along with her husband. It's a family operation with even her sons helping out. Great Mom & Pop operation. 1) Angel Wings: Crunchy fried batter. Chicken wings are deboned and stuffed with coarse ground chicken meat, saifun glass noodles, green onion, dash of Nam Pla/fish sauce. Accompanied by red onion, cucumber vinegar salad to refresh the palate. And sweet, mild Thai chile sauce. 2) Pad Ki Mao: This version seems to be a cross between Pad Si Yu since it has a bit of thickened sweet soy sauce along with Thai Basil, Nam Pla, broccoli, onion, red bellpepper. Wide Pappardelle-like thick rice pasta. 3) Mi Krob/Mee Grop: Thin angel hair rice noodles are deep fried and puff up for light crunchiness. Tossed in a sweet tomato sauce spiked with Nam Pla. Airy, dry, crunchy fried Tōfu adds even more texture. Goes great with Somtum Salad. 4) Somtum Thai Papaya Salad; Shredded unripe papaya having a coarser, more fibrousness than Daikon radish. Dressed in lime, vinegar sweet-sour dressing. Deep Nam Pla fish sauce funky Umami, crushed pan roasted peanuts, sour tomatillo, fresh red chile bits, cherry tomato. Impressed with the generous scattering of meaty sea Umami, salt preserved dried, fat shrimps that I had never experienced in other Somtum. 5) Whole Fried Sea Bass: Expertly fried in hot vegetable oil to crisp the skin. The meat inside varies from soft, moist deep inside to dry, chewy near the surface for good textural contrast. Fresh crispy, watery, raw cucumber are provided to refresh the palate. Sah Larb sauce: Complex concoction of lime, soy sauce, Nam Pla, toasted, dried crushed red chiles, cilantro leaf, red onion, green onion , vinegar, touch of sour tamarind. It's the Thai analog of Japanese Ponzu sauce. 6) Chicken Larb: Special patty of minced chicken meat marinated in Nam Pla and plenty of garlic. Moist with satisfying earthy meatiness. Usual larb is ground and sautéed so it looks friable and loose. This fried Larb is exceptional. I would like to see this stuffed into Angel Wings for extra richness. Once you get to know Nat and her family, there is a chance you will meet their other patron friends, and share each others' food family style which is really cool. The experience dining in was a bit unusual. It is obviously a mom n pop restaurant but it was as if I was eating at someone else home. There was kids watching Roblox and walking back and forth and also a guy sleeping on the floor, and then the whole family started eating together meanwhile locking the door and only opening it for those who had pick up orders. We ordered the pad see ew, crab fried rice, panang curry, and mango sticky rice. Unfortunately when our order was brought out, the man who handed us the meal said that mango sticky rice was out of season and he no longer carried it which was fine. We ordered through Grubhub so we request a refund for that dish. The pad see ew was good, it wasn't too sweet or salty. The crab fried rice was ok. It wasn't buttery or had that much crab. Based on the reviews I had to come here but I was craving Thai food so I decided to order online. The wait time was expected to be 30 mins from placing my order but it was a bit longer, about 10 minutes more when I arrived. But, Krua Thai has a phone and time problem. So.. I called in at 2:30am for PAD THAI (chicken) and PAD SEE EW (chicken). They are located in the cut, sharing the same lot as the ARCO gas station. I drove up and they have the front door locked with a mask sign, and only let me in to quickly pay and was told to wait outside. No problem, I hopped back in my car. When I went, I believe it was the husband and wife- wife took my money and made my Thai tea while the husband fired up the grill. Both wore masks from the time I went in until he walked to my car to give me my food. Pad Thai ($11.95) 5/5 *ORDER THIS* - Sweet, salty, tangy. It hit all the flavor notes a true Pad Thai should. I ordered it with chicken, yet it also came with small tofu squares as well. A LOT of white meat chicken, and it didn't taste "stringy" or cheap. It came with a mound of crushed roasted peanuts which was new to me, as well as very small slivers of red onion! These two new additions were complemented the flavors very well (for me at least). Noodles perfect texture with slight crunchiness from the sprouts in every bite. Pad See Ew ($11.95) 3.5/5 - Smokey and salty. This one was slightly different than all the other ones I've tried. In terms of ingredients, it had perfectly cooked flat noodles, LOTS of chicken, American broccoli (which I asked for), pretty much the standard combo. But it had a more distinct sauce flavor from it. It matched with the slightly charred chicken but I could tell either their distinct style of cooking uses more of something than others, or it was late so he put more than usual. Some people might find it too "Asian" tasting. I'd still order it again. Thai Tea ($2.50) 5/5 - HOMEMADE, the lady pours the black tea out of a large jug. Perfect color before and after you mix it. Not too much ice. Overall, I'm coming back here again. NO MSG, open until 3AM which actually matches their advertised time. Since it's made by one guy, I think you're going to get a more "homemade"/unique style- as in, he may have learned his technique from how a different part of Thailand makes their food. It may suit your taste buds way better than the bigger places or you may find it less appealing. Either way, the ingredients are good, they are handling this Communist Chinese Party Virus well.
