This restaurant popped up first time on Ubereats but since it was Saturday after one, dinner meal prices seemed expensive. I decided to forgo a meal and instead chose roti and a dessert called Thai Pumpkin Custard which is a traditional Thai homemade dessert, something I never heard before. The pumpkin custard is made with fresh pumpkin, eggs, sugar, coconut milk and steamed over 3 hours! I figured this unique dessert would be much better than a meal. I came here back in 2014, and wasn't overly impressed but decided to give it another shot since I was craving some Thai. The restaurant is clean and has a nice ambiance. My boyfriend and I decided to share an order of fresh basil rolls. The rolls tasted pretty fresh, but the peanut sauce wasn't very good. For dinner, he got the basil fried rice and I decided on the pad thai. I always order Thai spicy and this entree definitely delivered on that. However the flavor was really lacking. I wish it was closer to me! It's located in a plaza that has lots of different places to eat around it. Thai Squared is very modern looking and spacious. I think their AC is broken though.. You walk in and it's warm, so they have 2 fans to try to help with the heat. I wanted to get soup but I quickly changed my mind after realizing how warm it was in there. :( You order first, pay and then seat yourself. Terrible service, mediocre food, questionable cleanliness. I went here alone for lunch and ordered Pad Krapao (Spicy Basil Leaves) with Beef straight off the menu, a simple stir fry dish, and some fresh basil shrimp rolls (pre-made, not cooked). It was the tail end of lunch and the place was emptying out. I got the pre-made rolls after about 10 minutes. When I hadn't gotten my food for 30 minutes I had to go back to work and I asked for a refund. The rude lady complained that it hasn't been half an hour (I showed her the timestimp of the e-receipt). Then they refunded me for the Pad Krapao. The cheapos should have refunded me for everything because they wasted half an hour of my time and I didn't get any lunch that day. Came here since it was a Thai restaurant in between me and my friend. I've always passed by it but was never inclined to eat there but I can't believe I've been missing out on it. I used their website to order some food for my group. I picked up the order myself. I received an item that I did not want. When I called to complain they told me that it wasn't their fault. I told them that I was a regular customer and that I felt they should take care of the issue. I was told that they have a lot of regular customers. I asked if he wanted a regular customer to stop coming to his restaurant. He told me, yes. Regardless of who made the mistake, I don't feel that this is how one should be treated at a restaurant. I've been coming to Thai Squared for years and they have consistently served me delicious, affordable food. It is easily my favorite restaurant in the area and having had moved further away for a job, I was very excited when I switched jobs and was able to go back to Thai Squared for lunch every now and then. They have plenty of options, so there's something for everybody. Their online ordering processing is kind of a pain sometimes, but I can overlook that. I went shopping for alkaline water at Natural Foods Warehouse and since I'm already up at this area, I checked out Thai Squared for lunch. I'm thinking of a healthy lunch and Thai cuisine looked attractive to me on my Yelp app. As I entered the restaurant, the server behind the counter waved to me and my friend. He said we are to order our entrees and pay at the counter. Then our food will be brought out to us wherever we were seated. He showed me the simple menu they have there. They have appetizers, soups, salads, side dishes, main entrees, curry dishes, noodles and fried rice. Simplicity is fine with me and this was what I ordered: * Thai Salad ($5.00): It consisted of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and carrots with a rich peanut sauce. Very basic salad but I wished there were more dressing to this. * Massaman Curry ($8.50): This curry dish has potatoes, onions and peanuts with any choice of meat you wish. We decided on the chicken for our protein. The curry was a little on the sweet side for me. It comes with rice and a complimentary fried spring roll with dipping sauce. Brian enjoyed it but he had a lot of hot chilli sauce to flavor the dish even more. * Pad Thai Noodles ($8.00): I have chosen the shrimps to accompany the thin rice noodles, eggs, bean sprouts, chives and peanuts (on the side) of this entree. You may want chicken, pork, tofu or beef as your protein choice. This dish was a little on the dry side but the portion was sufficient for lunch. Complimentary spring roll came with all lunch entrees. Yay! We had iced tea that was refillable. Next time I may want to try the Thai iced tea or Thai coffee. Even though the main dining room was not too large, there is a good sized patio for more seating. The server was friendly and there is an overall modern and clean look but I prefer the traditional dark woods. Yup, I'm old fashion that way. Besides a small dining room section, the patio also has various tables for 4 which are great for the Spring/Summer when it's not too humid. It seems after 2, the lunch rush dies down quite a bit. Service: This is a "Fast casual" kind of joint. Order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. Sitting on the patio might not get as good as service as they don't really check out there too much. Most things like napkins and such you grab yourself. Food Highlights: Pad Thai: Don't let my pic fool you, I was lucky to have good lighting at the time. Is it good Pad Thai, yes. Is it authentic in taste... I'm not to sure. I asked the cashier what her favorite was, and she said she gets the mixed vegetable with the spicy basil sauce and chicken. That's pretty much what I wanted (spicy basil chicken with extra vegetables), so I opted for that at a spice level of 3 (on a scale of 1-5). I also got the basil rolls, which I use to judge Thai food places. We sat on the patio. There was a crisp spring roll with sweet chili sauce immediately brought to the table. Pretty soon the basil rolls arrived. They were ok - the wrapper was thick and there were more noodles than veggies, basil, or shrimp inside. The dipping sauce was your average sweet peanut sauce. The main dishes arrived, and since my dining companion had order the spicy basil chicken, it was only the extra veggies that set the two dishes apart. They're served with white rice - I forgot to check whether or not you can get brown rice instead. The spicy basil chicken was indeed spicy, though I don't recall much basil flavor. The chicken was tender and moist. I'm glad that I added extra veggies. The space is modern and clean, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable, particularly for Windward.
