Amazing food. Just a little cafe with a self service counter and a few tables but it was AMAZING.

The food is delicious, I highly recommend the chicken satay and masamam curry. The staff is also super nice.

I'm a little bit torn about my experience at Thai Spoon. The good: The pineapple fried rice flavor was super on point! Super flavorful! Usually pineapple fried rice can be kind of boring in flavor or else too sweet (bc the pineapple)-- Thai Spoon is crushing it with the spices! They did forget an ingredient though (see below)... The drunken noodles at spice level 2 was an average good. A little kick to it with the spice- it was good, but not stand out in my opinion. The lady who took my order and brought me my food was very pleasant! Other: It is a really small space- more hole in the wall than I was expecting. Further, when I walked in there was a baby lying on the table and another kid running around (seemed like family of the owner) super unhygienic, and the owner was going in and out of the kitchen touching the baby and picking the baby up then going back into the kitchen without washing hands. I can empathize and respect the small family business, but it's still kind of gross. They also forgot the cashews in the pineapple fried rice. That's a staple dish and a staple ingredient in it... Had this brought over to us for dinner so I'm not sure how well the service or the place is, but as for the food I don't have many complaints! It was pretty solid Thai food. I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 because there wasn't anything special about what we got. The pad Thai tasted like normal and didn't wow me. The yellow curry was great though and had a sweet flavor to it that I liked. Maybe I just got too basic of choices and that's why it tasted like any other place. read more

Thai Spoon - Drunken noodles mmmmm! - Thai Near Me - Murray, Utah

So happy I gave this place a shot. It's right down the street from my house and I was hesitant to try it just because of the seemingly endless string of bad restaurants that came before it in that location. However after seeing some tasty looking pictures on instagram I decided why not. We've been probably 4 or 5 times now and have even done take out. I'm very picky about my Thai food and I'm happy to say this place passes the test. If you're looking for a review of Pad (rhymes with bad) Thai look elsewhere. I have an utter loathing for that dish, but I digress. I tend to judge a Thai restaurant based on their curries and their nam thok (ie. beef waterfall, ie. beef salad, ie. one of the best dishes ever). Thai Spoon does both of those smashingly. We've had the panang and the red which were both delicious and creamy, I do not like watery curries. The nam thok is excellent and they use a good cut of beef. We also tried the garlic chicken which was a little sweet for my taste, the thai iced tea is not toothache sweet which is a plus, the papaya salad was fresh and well favored, and the tom yam is decent. What really sets Thai Spoon apart from others are the dishes you just can't find anywhere else. I was so delighted to see the Thai beef jerky with sticky rice on their menu. It's total road trip food and reminded me of good times from my childhood. It can be tough/chewy but it's beef jerky and it's delicious. Last time we went we got the crispy pork with veggies, I don't think I've ever seen that in Utah and it was delicious. They have a secret menu which is where most of the better items live. They have Khao Soi, which is the it thing right now, but also Khao Mun Gai (insert heart eye emoji). I've only seen this at one other restaurant in Utah but it's one of my most favorite Thai dishes ever. It's perfect in its simplicity. We can't talk about Thai Spoon with out addressing the heat/spice level. This is a Thai spicy scale, not an Americanized scale. Start with 2 - 3 was hard for me to eat. Don't at me if you try 4 and die. I don't even want to know what 5 is like and I can eat fairly spicy food. This is like streets of Bangkok hot. Just fair warning. Other items, the place is clean, I've never had a problem parking though we tend to go really late at night, the owners and staff are wonderful and friendly. Last time I ordered my food at a 3 and it was too hot, delicious but painful. The owner saw and brought be a small bowl of their amazing coconut ice cream to cool my mouth off. If I had been in her position I'd have pointed and laughed a because she tried to warn us. Overall this place is great, ya'll need to go and ask about the secret menu. read more

This place just opened up a couple months ago. I've been looking for a decent Thai place in the valley but have not been lucky so far. This restaurant finally changed that. In full disclosure, although I was planning to pay for the meal, my bro blogs and posts so we got it for free. Doesn't really affect my review except maybe in the length and level of detail but... Driving up to it, the signage and lighting give it a pleasant but casual impression and walking in it's clean and matches the impression that the exterior gives you. We ordered the Khao Soi noodles, Num Tok and Massaman Curry. They brought out some Thai egg rolls as an appetizer which were hot and fresh with a good crunch to them but not scalding hot like some other establishments. They were simple egg rolls but had a good balanced flavor and weren't too greasy. Eating with your hands doesn't burn them and make them all oily. The Khao Soi noodles were my favorite. A good light curry flavor and the noodles with sauce had just the right texture for me. A medium thick sauce with medium width flat noodles that were not over or under done. The amount of sauce was just right as well. Plenty to give the right flavor but not too much to make a mess. Having a full chicken leg was a nice touch as well. The Num Tok is marinated beef with vegetables and mint along with a side of sticky rice. The fresh mint leaves were very fresh and a step up in type from the normal mint leaves you see in restaurants which separates this place from others and makes it look that much more appetizing. I generally don't like these types of dishes because the meat is usually too dry and tough or it's just not that fresh. This one was better than most with the meat being not as dry but still wasn't my favorite dish of the night. I liked it but didn't love it. It just may not be my thing. I could see how others may like it a lot more though. It was nicely made and you could feel the quality. The Massaman Curry is basically yellow curry with peanuts. I'm always down with Thai dishes that include peanuts so this didn't disappoint either. A solid yellow curry and the rice had the right consistency for me which may be a slightly stickier consistency. My bro thought it could be a bit drier though. Having been to Thailand a good number of times while living in Asia I would say it's in the normal range of rice consistency although slightly drier is also in the range. As a finisher they brought out some homemade coconut milk ice cream topped with crushed peanuts which really rounded out the meal. The ice cream itself was very good with a balanced sweetness but again the peanuts made it just that much better. It's worth saving some space for this although you could most likely down it even though you're full. Service was very good. They are new and are trying to ramp up slowly to keep the quality of both the food and service high. The co-owner and server were very attentive to the customers and the food came out in good time. They are definitely concerned about doing the right thing for customers and not overextending themselves. The atmosphere is casual but the presentation, food and service outpaces that level which left a good impression. Being casual, the price is also that of a casual establishment so I felt that the price performance was very good (if I had paid...). Most places I've been have been about 1.5x the cost and half the quality and flavor so this is definitely going to stay on my rotation whenever I'm in town. I've been looking many years for a good Pad Thai in the States and have consistently been disappointed so being pleasantly surprised by what I've had here so far I think I'll try that next. This place has amazing Thai food! I especially like it that they make everything g fresh, so no meat in the fresh spring rolls is no big deal for them! My husband got the spicy cashew at a spice level 5. He did need extra rice and they charged for it, which was strange for a Thai place but we'll know next time. He loves the food and is looking forward to eating the leftovers at work tomorrow. My son, 4 years old, got the yellow curry with tofu. They even made it a kids serving size for cheaper. He ate all of it. He isn't a picky eater, so I wasn't too surprised that he liked it, but he cleaned his plate! We shared the fresh spring rolls with no meat. My goodness, the peanut sauce is amazing. It has become rare to find a good peanut sauce but they nailed it! We also shared the mango rice. It was small for the price but tasted great and it was the perfect texture. We will be back! For 2 adults and a child, it came to about $40 with an appetizer, so not somewhere we'll go a lot but we will be here again soon! read more

Went here for lunch with a friend, service was fast and very good. They came by several times to refill our water glasses. We had the lunch specials, which were very generous in their portions. I had the red curry with chicken. The curry was very flavorful, the vegetables and chicken we're cooked very well, and the accompanying salad and spring roll were good too. We decided to order in Thai Spoon and based upon so many reviews was super excited to try it. Honestly I wasn't super impressed. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Drunken Noodles, Chicken Massaman Curry, and some Egg Rolls. The eggs rolls and Massaman Curry were good and the rest was eh. The Pad Thai seemed really sweet and didn't really taste like Pad Thai to me. My husband ordered a spice level 2 on the Drunken Noodles and it was super spicy, which was ok for him, but too much for me. For me personally, there are better Thai places out there. read more

Good food. Quick service. Hole in the wall. Pleasant staff and very affordable price ! Atmosphere is very welcoming but may seem a bit empty at times. Their service and presence makes up for how quiet it can seem sometimes. Khao Soi - delicious mildly Spicy curry broth with egg noodles, chicken drumsticks and an assortment of veggies topped with some crispy deep fried noodles. This dish is what I crave every time. The broth is not as thick as most Thai curries but is thick enough to coat the perfectly chewy noodles every bite. The chicken is cooked to a good "fall off the bone" texture. The deep fried noodles provides a bit of a crunch to each bite as well. Delicious !! Thai spoon roasted chicken - great protein dish! Was a nice dish to add onto our meal. By itself, I wouldn't think it's enough though. Chicken was great because it was nicely roasted to a crispy outside all while maintaining its moisture inside. The smell when you walk in instantly make your mouth water. It's a cute little place. Nicely decorated and seemingly clean. The staff seemed very friendly although I didn't stay long because I got my food to go. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai and because of previous Yelper's reviews I decided to play it safe and only get spice level 1 (I would normally go for a 5-7 spice level). I love spice but nothing irritates me more that when something is so spicy that that's all you can taste. It was very tasty. It only had the slightest hint of heat and was definitely not spicy enough for me. Next time I will try a 2 or 3 and go up until I like the spice level. Some of the chicken was pretty dry but still flavorful. The serving is HUGE. It filled the Styrofoam to-go container to the top! That is a ton of food for $10. HOLY HELL.. because my mouth was on fire and because the food and service was amazing. Most Thai restaurants that I have been too always try to scare me with, "how hot do you want it". And I always say medium or hot... because I always have to add more chili oil to make it even hotter. But this place doesn't play around. They have a scale from 1-5.. I said 4 and the waitress said, "are you sure?? ". So I went with a three because she said four is really hot and three is pretty up there too. Guys... she wasn't kidding. The food was definitely spicy and flavorful. I didn't have to add anything extra.. just extra water. I got the fried tofu and Thai egg rolls as appetizers, it wasn't as oily as I thought it would be and the dipping sauce was good too. For entrees, I got drunken noodles with seafood. It was really good.. spicy.. but delicious and the yellow curry was fulfilling and tasty. The Tom yum soup.. was to die for. Overall my experience here was great, the waitress was very attentive and kind. Such a cute place with delicious food. If you love spicy food, definitely give this place a try! DISCLAIMER: They do not play around when it comes with heat. I would like to consider myself decently tolerable with heat. I regularly cook and eat Indian cuisine and I tend to like it on the 'pretty-freaking-hot' scale. The first time I ordered thai spoon (drunken noodles, no meat) I ordered a 4 out of 5 because hey, I like my food HOT. I took 2 bites and was asked 'why are you crying?' ... Because it is so hot my eyes can't do anything but water. Holy hell. Heat is on freaking fire. Second time I ordered from Thai Spoon (also, drunken noodles, no meat, because I wanted to give it a chance where I hadn't lost all of my tastebuds and could give it an actual review...) but uh... I went with a level 1. It. Was. Still. Hot. As. Hell. I had my boyfriend eat some, without context (he is from India and he likes his food hotter than I do) and I asked 'out of 1-5, what would you give this heat wise?' He said 'At least a 3!' He loved it, but agreed it was definitely spicier than a 1. Bottom line: good food, good service, nice people, I'll definitely be back... but be cautious when it comes to heat because your mouth will be on fiya! read more

I ordered drunken noodles (vegetarian) and the tofu fresh spring rolls for delivery. I appreciate all the food being super fresh and the noodles were piping hot. The portions are large, meaning plenty for leftovers which is great! However, everything tasted super sweet. I missed the depth of flavor I'm used to with Thai food. I wonder if this food is seasoned to appeal to Utah's sweet tooth... regardless, I would recommend if you don't mind a sweet flavor in your food. Food is inedible. Ordered on UberEats and immediately threw away after attempting to eat each one of the three items ordered. This is one of those places that survives off of delivery promos and masks lack of taste in their dishes by adding absurd levels of spice so you think the dish has flavor when the underlying food is actually flavorless. We ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken, the grilled chicken, and the Tom yum soup. All were inedible. We were misled by the generally positive Yelp reviews too. This place was too legit. Too Legit to Quit. All right, after searching for some good Thai food, I found the best place around me. Although it was an interesting first conversation, when they called me back to tell me they no longer had the crunchy pork: "Sorry we no longer have the crunchy pork." "Okay can we do crunchy beef?" "No we don't have that." "Oh okay, do you have any crunchy meat?" "Let me check... No we don't have any crunchy meat." Lol. So I ordered the orange chicken, which came pretty crunchy. Regardless, the cream cheese wontons are really good. The orange chicken was freaking delicious. The pineapple fried rice was really good but I didn't see any pineapples in it which was kind of weird. They were fast and they were good which is what you want in a Thai restaurant.
