At the very least, for more than two years, the opening time has consistently been after 1:30 PM, and often not until 2:00 PM or later. Since this is not a large food court, there are very limited dining options available. Best Pad Thai hands down! The flavor is so fresh. My husband and I eased our way into the spice levels based off their recommendations! We are both now at a Thai Level 8 and Thai Level 10!! There are seats outdoors or dine in the food court upstairs with an extended covered outdoor seating many are not aware of. I went there on a Saturday when all of the food options in the upstairs food court didn't feel appetizing to me. I remembered that there were several options downstairs, so I went to check it out. I decided to order from the Thai Shack, where I realized that they had the general Thai food in addition to the ice cream rolls and numerous desserts that I thought they were only known for. I discovered that I was wrong and they have full meals for really decent prices! Thai curry for $10? Wow! I was attended to by a very nice older woman, who I realized after the fact was the owner after looking at a photo with their contact info. I ordered the Surf and Turf and she walked me through spice levels since I'm not familiar with Thai spiciness. I went with 5 since that's what she recommended. I wish I took a picture of my order, but I was so *hangry* that I ate it quickly. The quality was the best out of all the options at the NEX. The spiciness was just right and very delicious. I wish I knew this option beforehand, but now that I know, I'll definitely be coming back. If you're craving Thai (or any Asian food) at NEX (which is sorely lacking local/Asian options) and don't want to pay $20 for a plate at I Love Country Café upstairs, go downstairs to the Thai Shack by Chef T and get yourself some Tom Yum, Thai Curry, or Pad Thai for great value. When I was looking around for something around the NEX, I saw Thai Shack on yelp and it was rated really well. I love Thai food so I decided to try it with my friend. We love splitting things so that we can try more than one thing so we got a super size açaí bowl and chicken pad thai. It was so busy because it was lunch time and there were a lot of people ordering. We waited a bit for our food so once I saw that they had made our açaí, I went up to get it while we waited for our pad thai. We ended up eating the whole açaí before our pad thai was ready. It was so hot outside so it was the perfect thing to help us cool down. It's definitely not like the traditional açaí but the fruits were really good. The pad thai was finally ready and we ate it pretty quick. It's a very big portion. I'll definitely be getting the pad thai again or maybe try the curry. read more

If you've tried authentic Thai food, this is no comparison. 2 stars for friendliness, but the food is not good and surely not worth the wait. We ordered the chicken satay, the veggie pad Thai and the air fried veggie rolls. Nearly $30...and it was just simply not worth the money. The chicken satays picture on the sign looked generously portioned but it was a piece of chicken chopped into cubes on top of some greens, with a scoop of mushy white rice. The chicken tasted fake, it was extremely soft..weird flavor and texture. The air fried veggie rolls had a funny taste..I'm not sure how to describe it..but almost like an old taste? It was 2 veggie rolls cut in half plus a half of one, and that was $5. Sauce was sweet, eh not very good either. The veggie pad Thai did not even taste like pad Thai. The wait time is excessive. They have a sign saying they are short staffed, but they shouldn't be taking new orders if they can't fulfill them for a hour. Excellent Thai food, family run. I almost always get the shrimp pad thai, spice level 8 of 10. It's perfectly spicy and still enjoyable. The lemon chia drink is also always worth it--so refreshing. The owners know Thai food and Thailand itself--before I visited a few years ago, they gave me some great recommendations. I love this stand and the family. The food is made fresh (the slogan is "this is not fast food, but it is worth the wait")--it's totally worth it. I've grown up coming to the nex as a kid, and now I work at the Starbucks inside, so I'm alwaaays in the area! I'm always getting bored with food but never when it comes to the Thai food here! However, now that I've tried it, it's the only place I eat at the NEX. For a tiny kiosk, it delivers! The Energizing Lemon Chia drink and a veggie green curry are my go to items. The veggies in the curry are so good and cooked just right. It comes with a side of jasmine rice and the portion is just right. The drink is always such a refreshing treat! I love that EVERYTHING is freshly made. Because the food is made to order, it does take awhile. Sometimes up to 20 minutes but trust me, it's worth the wait. I love Thai food and they had a delicious panang curry. I had vegetarian with tofu. You get to choose your spicy level from 1-mild all the way to 10- Thai spicy. I normally like spicy but I know Thai spicy is another level spicy, the kind of spicy that burns your taste buds off, turns your mouth to lava(not fire), makes you sweat like your doing HIIT exercises in a steam room. But that's a 10 spicy level, and I like tasting my food so I went with a 6, but I think next time I'll try 7. The icing on the cake, the delicious Thai coffee made with non-dairy coconut condensed milk and coconut evaporated milk. It was so good!
