This review is STRICKLY ABOUT THE SERVICE. The food is fine however it's not worth it when you consider that service is ALWAYS either REALLY BAD or JUST OK. I don't think that there employees realize that patrons are the reason that they have a paycheck and they should most definitely be a lot more nice than they are. This was our first visit. We love Thai food. We started with Thai tea and shrimp spring rolls, I added an egg roll. The peanut sauce was very good and the Thai tea was excellent. I selected a new dish for me Pla Glien , Tilapia with vegetables. My sponsor had Massaman Curry. Both dishes were delicious, the egg roll was a little crispy but did not bother me. This Thai restaurant is very close to our house so the other night we decided to try it out. We ordered fried calamari, Chicken Drunkin noodles and chicken Pad Thai. To start, the fried calamari was so crisp! Much better than our old California spot we went to often, they also give you a lot! For me the Pad kee mao wasn't what I was expecting. The taste was delicious, the texture of the noodles was a little soggy/soft.. not my favorite. The great thing about the dish was the amount of chicken. My boyfriend loved his pad Thai, no complaints there. When you walk in they have limited seating, in between tables they even had plexiglass. You walk right up to the counter, pay and get your food. Thai Select has been hit or miss for me over the last several years. I have a lot of memories here, but the food has never been particularly great. One item I can count on to be tasty is the tom yum goong soup. It's a sweet and sour soup with shrimp that I usually enjoy at a 2 or 3 spice level. Although they don't use my favorite mushrooms in it, overall it is very flavorful. I've ordered many items from here over the years like cashew chicken, drunken noodles, pad see ew, pad thai, basil sauce beef, fried rice, panang curry, egg rolls, peanut chicken satay, pot stickers, tom yum goong, calamari, and the homemade coconut ice cream. Of these items, I would recommend the cashew chicken, pad see ew, pad thai, tom yum goong, peanut chicken satay, and the coconut ice cream. The other items have been inconsistent in quality. The service is less than average in timelines, correct orders, and friendliness. Be prepared to flag down your waiter when you need something. If you order something too spicy, you will be asking for a lot of water refills. I keep coming back because of the tom yum goong soup and the convenient location. So I deliver food through favor and I frequently get orders from this restaurant and I always told myself to try it. Well I finally got a chance to see what the hype was all about. I have order from them over the phone several times and sometimes this lady answers and her accent is hard to understand at time. Sometimes a guy answers the phone and he is clear to understand. They do offer limited dine in tables at the moment and their menu is available online. I went in and order in person, I had the fried calamari. Honestly those were not that great, the breading they coated them with was thin and when I got home to eat them the breading just fell off. Not much taste or crunch to them so skip them next time. The egg rolls were delicious and will get those next time instead of the calamari. For my main dish I got the drunken noodles with a spice level of 4. I normally dont get anything above a 3 the first time around but I wanted to see what they were all about. Sadly the level 4 was not enough for me. It felt like maybe a level 2of spice. Besides that the noodles tasted good, they had a good meat to noodle ratio. However... when I was almost done with my noodles I noticed a hair in them!!! I ordered spice level 3 and an extra side of chili oil, which I used just for the taste (bomb). The takeout portion was enough for 2 big bowls of curry at home. I also ordered a taro milky boba, frozen. The ice was a tiny bit chunky but the boba was the perfect texture! I ordered my boyfriend simple orange chicken with white rice and broccoli. He liked it, the pieces were much bigger than any fast food or cheap Chinese place's. The pad Thai is great as well, I like it level 4 (very) spicy. Overall I highly recommend this place!! The curry is my favorite thing I've tried so far, and the boba is a nice little snacky drink for the short (about 10 minute) wait. I ordered the C1 PANANG CURRY and specifically asked if I could be up charged for duck since I didn't see it on menu listing. What was served was clearly Thai select specialty GANG PED YANG (Roasted Duck, tomatoes , pineapple, lychee In thai red curry) when I made the observation to the waitress she took it and said it was the same thing. I showed her on the menu and explained maybe it was rung in as the specialty because of the duck substitute. It became really awkward and she said " well next time...." I am pretty big on supporting small business and Thai select is one I regularly frequent and recommend to everyone in the area. I didn't want anything for free and really Wish the situation would've been handled differently to keep me as a customer. Just be aware if something comes out wrong they will make you keep it and make you feel crazy for pointing out that certain ingredients arent supposed to come in your dish. Well when I came in this restaurant it seemed like a dressed up hole in the wall. I sat down and I ordered a lot cause I ordered with my eyes and not my stomach so of course I got more then I could actually eat.
