The outside of this place could completley put you off, and because it's right next to a Kebab house doesn't do it any immediate favours. But give it a go, especially if you like your eastern food as the Thai curry's etc on offer are so good. Thai Pepper - Fast Food Near Me - Bristol, BST

Well it's hard choice between Simply Thai and Thai Pepper for my favourite Thai restaurant is Bristol really do love this place! Amazing food bring your own booze and a very reasonably priced! Ordered between two and went for standard Thai green curry, chilli chicken and two rice, grabbed a couple of desperadoes from the shop opposite and it am came down to £25! Not bad at all for a very tasty, filling meal. Service was very quick and with a smile and had a great range on the menu complete with chefs specials, which I well going back to try very soon! Condition of the restaurant could be a little better maybe just a bit of redecorating would earn this place 5 stars from me. Choice to eat in or takeaway, for me this is maybe a place you might want to go with your partner or in a group, however maybe not a first date kind of place! read more

I first visited Thai Pepper when I came back from travelling in Thailand. I was looking for somewhere that delivered Thai food the way it should be, and I wasn't disappointed. Completely Thai run this restaurant is very keen on doing things 'the right way'. The main feature is serving all the components of the dish separately. The experienced chefs out back design each dish to have its own specific taste and spice. To mix all the dishes together, I was told, would defeat this. The second feature I enjoy is the menu being in both English and Thai. Now Thai has to be one of the hardest languages to understand, never mind read! This is just another indicator that this is a restaurant where they do what they do for the love of it. When you dine here you can really feel that. The takeaway menu is equally impressive with free delivery over £15, the restaurant is a B.Y.O and if you're in a party - they can even change the menu. Dear All, I am back with yet another detailed review :-) This time it's Thai pepper which came under my radar. I went there twice and to my surprise they committed same mistakes both of time with the additional few next time. But let me get above that and start my review first. First of all it should be a take away restaurant and not with seating but they have managed to put few smallest available tables in the market inside the restaurant to serve food as well. Really, I wouldn't want my wife and me enjoying my day in such a rubbish place which feels like fish market, but the family which owns it won't understand this, I really don't think they have that big vision to make things in Britain in the style which British prefer. It's truly commercial endeavor where Thai food means lots of Sugar+Coconut juice and you can put whatever you like after that as English people wont understand the taste and think it's a Thai. I mean, go and try the same Dishes in SIAM THAI (Another Thai restaurant in Bristol) and you will yourself feel how much Thai pepper's food is ridiculous. Being a Thai family (Atleast look like ones :-) ) they should have that clue of taste I believe, but unfortunately they do not. For Service i will give this restaurant 2/5 which is like if they get time they attend you otherwise you wait for your turn. And to my surprise, their time is not occupied in serving customers but they are most of the time busy in talking to each other in thatgliabhai fheuy language, I hope you understand the words as I don't get those and it kept on banging my head again and again. I mean it's awful that you open a restaurant put lots of seating in a small place where one double bed won't fit properly and then bang your guest all the time with your native language talks. It's truly terrible. Now, something about the so called BYO or whatever acronym they want to called it: Guys, if you had 1/2-1 liter of mineral water and keep it somewhere which is not on the table and you do not drink it even, still they charge one pound for bringing it in. I really do not understand if guys want to beg for money then why do they not just sit on the road and ask for change. Why do they have to fool people around for 1 pound. Immensely disgusting :-( So to summarize: Food Quality: 0/5 ( All food has not much to do with Thai cuisine, Hell lot of sugar and quality of grain & meat usage is pathetic) Service: 2/5 ( With all the Thai talks on the top of voice going around always and not caring about customer just because they want to talk with each other). Giving 2 because the kid working there talks sweetly. Rest all is miserable state, The old lady generally managing the restaurant thinks she is lady Elizabeth and next 10 pound note will have her photo. Ambience: 0/5 one big wall covered with huge portrait. I mean really huge, you can laugh on proportion of restaurant size and single masterpiece which is hanging. I ate here a few weeks ago with my family. The interior is very basic with bright lights inside, not very atmospheric. I don't even think they had music on it was so quiet. The owner was also watching us like a hawk. Anyway the waitress was lovely, polite with a smile and service was quick. We ordered veggie spring rolls but they were little triangles. This didn't really bother me but my mum was annoyed, so maybe other people might find this annoying? It's BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine not realising that they charge £1 per person drinking. The food arrived and everyone's dishes looked incredible. I ordered the veggie curry which was delicious! EXCEPT it tasted like fish! It was the same curry they cook for the seafood curry except they just pick it out. I couldn't believe it. My mum had ordered the seafood curry and she said the sauce tasted exactly the same. Why the hell was this curry under the Vegetarian section??? Do not order the "veggie" curry if you're vegetarian or worse still, vegan which I am. Also it was very runny, this didn't bother me but some people might be put off. Unfortunate, as this place clearly does good food. At the end of the meal a couple of people stood up to put their coats on, the rest of us were still sitting and the manager /owner ran up to us saying frantically "Do you want to pay?? Do you want to pay!??" As if we were going to run off or something. Way to make people feel uncomfortable. read more

I absolutely love this place. Admittedly, it's been awhile since I actually set foot inside to have a sitdown meal (although, it's well worth it because the staff are bend-over-backwards, give-you-their-shirt friendly and the ambience of the place is perfect), I get takeaway from here very, very regularly. Yes, it's quite simply the best Thai food in all of Bristol (I lived off the real thing a few years ago during my trip around the islands and Bangkok, so I should know), the service is quick (around 45 minutes to get to Stokes Croft, about an hour further afield to places like Clifton) and the prices are ridiculously cheap. Honestly, you won't be disappointed by giving this place a try next time you want something a little different. First of all, you probably wouldn't want to eat here because it feels like eating at a take-away - the atmosphere is pretty bland and cold. You can get take-away Thai food from here though, which is really tasty, and the service is excellent. I went there the other day, desperate to find somewhere where I could get some nice takeout food quickly so as not to miss a band that were playing, and they told me that if I ordered a particular dish I could take it straight away. I love this restuarant. As said before you would not think of coming here to eat a sit down meal, but you would be very wrong not to give it a go! The staff are so so very friendly, the food is gorgeous and the price tag excellent. It is one of the most authentic Thai restuarants I have been to in regards to the taste of the food, and what is good is the fact it is a BYO, so should you want to go out but cannot afford to spend too much, you can take your own booze. This is a funny little thai restaurant just under the arches of gloscester road. It is set up mainly for takeaway but there are also a number of tables for eating in, and I really liked the fact that you almost feel like you are sitting in someones front room as it is all very cosy but with plasticy table cloths and front room type decor. What is lovely abou this place are that the staff are so eager to please. They are friendly and polite and more than happy to make food to your taste or requirements. When I last ate there I was with someone with nut allergies and they double checked on every ingredient so as not to make her ill! And the food is really fresh and tasty and they have true authetic thai dishes that you cant find in many other thai restaurants around bristol. The price is very cheap to boot and certainly when I jlast went it was bring your own, maknig it a really cheap but very enjoyable night out. read more

Just got a take-away from here and really disappointed. Fried starters tasted stale and greasy and every other dish was bland and so not spicy. I mean, jungle curry that you can't even taste the chilli!?!?! I don't why they have 'toned things down' so much, but it really bears no relationship to Thai cooking. And it wasn't cheap either. Everybody has their own choice. I respect all the five and 4 star rating for this restaurant and I do stand by my rating of 1 as well. My issue was not money taken on BOY.. If I multiply that money with 100 as well and I spent the same on anything/anyone.. i wont bother thinking about it.. It's the ridiculous treatment I got there. Don't order take away from this place! Me and my girlfriend ordered some food for delivery from Thai Pepper. We ordered the chicken Satay, Thai Green Curry and Beef Panang. We waited around 50 minutes which wasn't a problem and all the food arrived, however the food was appalling and did not look edible. On opening the plastic containers, the smell was rancid and the food was a disgrace. The meat was well overcooked and was swimming in coloured fat - there was minimal sauce and it would not have covered the rice. The Thai Green curry was disgusting and looked watery and oily, not thick and creamy as expected with this dish. We would not eat it and requested a refund immediately. The Thai Pepper offered us a refund but informed us all the food must be collected unopened or touched and we would have to wait up to an hour on the street for the driver to return. To be fair they refunded us but it was only after multiple phone calls and a long time waiting. We were looking forward to this meal and it was an insult to be served the poor food, which I wouldn't have even served to a dog. Stay well clear of this embarrassing shambles!! read more

Ordered takeaway on 30/4 from Thai Pepper for 1 May at 7pm. However, the delivery man came on 30/4 at 10pm instead. So I had to tell him it was for tomorrow. The next thing I know my order for tomorrow was cancelled. When I called to ask why was my order cancelled, the rude woman from Thai Pepper said that it was MY FAULT for ordering a day in advance and that she had wasted GBP6 in paying a deliveryman to deliver my food today, therefore she does not want to take my order for tomorrow anymore.
