They do a deal at lunchtime where they cook up a few dishes and you can have whichever of them for £2 and add rice or noodles for £2. I had a chicken masaman curry and rice the other day for £4! You can barely get a McDonalds for £4! What's on offer varies for the lunch deal but they do tend to stick to popular dishes. They do proper yummy thai prawn crackers too (the orange ones that are slightly spicy) with sweet chilli sauce and play Thai music and the staff are lovely. If it was 30 degrees outside you'd feel like you were in Thailand! Decor is basic, long benches for seating and toilets aren't the best! They've got some pictures of the food on the wall, along with the specials boards and menu. I love it when there's pics of the food because I like to try new things and this helps with what to expect. There's also lots of interesting traditional Thai decor; old photos in frames and some offerings for buddha and pictures of the king. Don't go here for a night out kind of meal because it's quite quick to arrive and there is only a small bar, but definitely go if you want a fresh and delicious, cheap meal. It's the best in town for thai in my opinion.

I think this was to reflect their new day/lunch menu that, during the summer, they sell through their open windows. I've eaten here so many times that I now have 2 dishes that I rarely stray from. The Gosereng Malaysian Noodles and Chicken in Chilli Oil with Pineapple Rice. Both are absolutely delicious! The noodles are spicy with lots of veg and flavour. The chicken in chilli oil is saucier than you would imagine, it's not just flooded in oil. The pineapple rice is so good, not overly sweet and with a nice flavour of its own. Think wagamamas style noodles benches, chilli pots on the table and an all Thai cast.

We got the green curry, coconut rice and delectable chilli and basil chicken - sweet and hot and meltingly flavoursome. They cook in huge woks before your eyes and boy, is it quick! If you're as hungry as I was you won't have long to wait for your takeaway. They also have a couple of small tables strewn in the front where you can sit and eat Asian cafe-stylee, although I wouldn't exactly call it a restaurant and you certainly can't book. They have done an incredible job from what it was when it was Zizi's and I bet that on the right summers day it would be lovely to sit in the garden. This would be a good place to go for a alternative family meal as the place does have some wow factor. But if you want to go for a really good Thai meal, there's definitely better places to go in Bristol!

I have to be honest about the restaurant itself, it is very 'modern' with wooden benches, white walls, lime green and yellow lights and some people might find this quite a cold environment to spend an evening in, possibly better for lunchtime. But I am told there is a slightly more intimate, dimly lit, 'date' section in the back; just in case they don't look like their photo.

The deli counter is stocked with things like steamed fish and lamb curry, which are a really good price for lunch or a light dinner - £3.50 each (including rice), and the quality of the curry (which I just sampled) is very good. The menu changes every day, according to what the chefs feel like cooking, so there's definitely going to be variety if you become a regular. The man who owns the shop also runs the Thai kitchen at the Old Fishmarket on Baldwin Street, and he has plans to open a Steamed Dim Sum bar at the back of this Deli. There's already a few places set up here, so you can eat in as well as takeaway, or choose one of the intriguing items from one of the 3 shelving units at the front of the shop. All the staff are Thai and it is clearly authentic down to the very last detail. The food is perhaps not the greatest I've ever tried, but the recipes were tasty and well-executed. Thai Classic certainly isn't new or modern, if anything it reminds me of restaurants how they used to be when I was a little kid being shepherded round oriental eateries by my parents. Anyhow, I also found the service to be extremely smooth and friendly, making for an overall enjoyable eating experience.
