I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to thai food. Their pad thai is really good and good sized portions. Fried rice is good ans my dad said the beef salad is really tasty as well. Service is quick. No complaints here. read more

One of mine and my husbands favorite places to order delivery from! Golden cream cheese is phenomenal. Seriously one of the best "rangoon" I've ever had. Portions are super generous and all of the curry I have tried so far have been delicious, but I think the pumpkin red curry is my favorite. We are thinking of starting "Thai Tuesdays" every week in our house so we have an excuse to order from here more regularly haha! read more

The red curry was on point. Caught this place out of the corner of my eye and made a stop. Great service and wicked quick. Definitely will be back! read more

We love Thai. This place came recommended and I could see on arrival there are many dedicated fans. Many options on the menu and we all ordered something different. The food was good, bursting with authentic flavor but despite ordering different dishes all of our food sort of tasted like the same dish. We all got different curries and couldn't really tell the difference. And all of them were frankly too hot (spicy) to eat. We all asked for medium heat. I dread thinking what "hot" would be. Staff was friendly and service was quick but this didn't really stand out for me. Its nice and affordable too. We might be back next time in Hampton. read more

This is the best Thai Place I've been to in the Hampton area. Service was excellent. Food was better. Panang curry and Pad Thai were spot on. As well as the golden cream cheese and fried rice. Highly recommend read more

My husband and I love this place. Best Thai food in Hampton Roads. Seriously. We use to live in Hampton and would go at least twice a month if not more. Their drunken noodles are the best. Their kapows are great and so are their curries. Honestly, I've never really had anything bad from there. They have another location in Newport News but the original location on Armistead is the best (yes I know, same restaurant but DIFFERENT cook!). We have since moved to the southside and have tried multiple other Thai restaurants but nothing compares to Thai Papaya. It would have almost been better to not know of Thai Papaya because we compare every Thai place to it and sadly, are disappointed every time. Once I passed through Hampton on my way to the southside and even bought my husband drunken noodles to go, drove an hour, and had to microwave it a little to warm it up; my husband still said it was still better than what we've experienced with our journey to find the southside's version of Thai Papaya. TLDR: Go to Thai Papaya for Thai food. You won't be disappointed. read more

This spot is awesome I've been look for food with duck and they offer many options. I love their fried rice and curry. Amazing place.

Best thai food i think ive ever eaten the best ive ever had around this area and the service is always great. I definitly would reccomend this place litterally everything i have ordered on the menu is good and ive tried just about everything. read more

This is a general review. I have been coming to this place for the past 10 years and the food is always perfect. I absolutely recommend this location for authentic and well-cooked Thai food. read more

Best Thai food in Hampton hands down. Everyone that works there is great. We come here at least every two weeks it's that amazing. The food has been spot on every single time. read more

LOVE this place! The food is fantastic, the prices are excellent, and there's a lot of variety to the menu. If you can't find something here you like....you are probably someone's exgirlfriend. Insatiable. Greedy. Whiny. You probably cheated on him, didn't you? DIDN'T you?! The pad see ew is my favorite. I'll alternate between chicken, beef, and pork each time I have it. I love how they recently started giving you a free eggroll with every dish. That satisfying crunch!!! The staff is also extremely kind. Some seriously sweet ladies workin' therrrr. I noticed some other reviewers complaining about the language barrier...but I don't think that's very fair. They can understand YOU just fine. You just might not understand them very well. But they get your order right every time. Just speak it clearly and don't make it overly complicated with stupid nuances like that crazy girlfriend who needs her chicken "cooked slightly more on one side, and can you make sure my egg isn't too runny? Omg, these vegetables are too squishy! NOW THEY'RE TOO HARD!!!" What will make you happy? Nuthin! loool read more

This is the best Thai restaurant in the area! Have tried several dishes and they all are very flavorful and good! I go here every time now when I want Thai food. It is a whole in the wall but the food is second to none around here. read more

Thai Papaya - Thai Near Me - Hampton, Virginia

I'm not in any way a Thai snob. The food was delicious, and I would probably go back. The service was great, I never had an empty glass. The place is always packed at lunch; so we preorder what we want and show up 15 mins later. Sometimes the food is ready when we get there, other times we are waiting. It is hit or miss. Highly recommended! read more

Food here was great! The staff was very nice. If you're into spicy, this is the place to make a stop. We've red, green and massaman curry, the pad thai and the drunken noodle. All of them were fantastic. Love the open kitchen concept. Great way to get schooled on making some thai food. read more

Delicious large lunch portions with great prices. Speciality drinks to offer. Food came out very fast and staff is friendly! read more

Thai Papaya - Chicken Pad Thai - Thai Near Me - Hampton, Virginia

I'm from a state and city where Thai food is at every street including my moms and grandmas house. Here in VA there's not many Thai restaurants that give me the home feeling with a good feeling after being full and there are definitely not many places that sell papaya salad. This is my new comfort food place, the food was so good and the papaya salad is just like how it is at home. The pork larb tastes just like how my grandma makes it. So happy we decided to try somewhere new. read more

Best part of this place was the Thai beer. The food was far from authentic. Ordered sweet and sour shrimp, I had 4 pieces of shrimp with more soup that had nothing to do with sweet or sour. Not sure where they pulled their recipes from but it was the worse Thai food I have ever eaten. read more

Coming from CA, I miss a lot of things and thai food is one of them. I've tried a few places, but they weren't exactly what I was looking for. Until I found Thai Papaya. It's a little hole in the wall place in an olderish...looking strip mall but those places are usually the best. Their drunken noodles, spicy shrimp fried rice, and Tom Kah Gai soup are great. They are also really good about providing the spice level you ask for. Staff is always very friendly. Will continue to be my go-to place for Thai while in VA. P.S. don't forget to try a thai tea. read more

Hands down...THE BEST THAI food in Hampton, Virginia. My favorite is the Chicken or Shrimp Pad Thai, with Satay Chicken and Thai Tea. I've tried all of the curries and I love the Pumpkin and the Massaman (spellcheck) Curry. The atmosphere is friendly and family oriented. It's always packed during lunch!! From the Air Force base, the Hospital staff, and College students, it's best to get there early! read more

Best fried rice in town. Hands down one of the tastiest plates I have ever had at a Thai restaurant. I also love the chicken pad Thai. I'm drooling just thinking about it. The one in Hampton is small so get there early. The food is always warm and service is great. read more

Great Thai food close to base! This place is great for lunch, but note it gets packed FAST! I try to get there early for lunch. If not, I am almost forced to call in an order for take-out. They have a great masaman curry, pad Thai, and golden cream cheese (crab rangoon). I usually get it Medium spicy and it's cooked just right every time. The service is great, and the food is even better! The Thai tea is standard, and I can easily down two or three. Definitely a place to go for Langley AFB folks! read more

Spring rolls are standard but the appetizer called Golden Cream Cheese (Crab Rangoon) the best I have ever had in 30 years of eating this dish that I enjoy . it was stuffed with crab meat and cream cheese. Drunken noodle standard .. Green curry great. Pad wud sen was great .. Bottom line try it.. read more

I got Tom Yum and it was way better than the other Thai restaurant I've tried in Norfolk. Bigger portions for a reasonable price. I came across one review that was posted of the same dish I ordered and Tom Yum does not "smell like feet". It's a very flavorful hot, spicy, and sour soup that is served with rice. I would highly recommend anyone to try! The restaurant is clean and service is very friendly. I would definitely come back again. Highly recommended! read more

I order through Grubhub and they sent me a chicken dish when I ordered shrimp. I am pescatarian. When I called I was treated as if I was lying. Finally spoke to a man who said I would have to go pick the food up and I would get a dessert. Once I get there they make me wait even though I found out the food was sitting on the counter the whole time. So after 10 minutes I go to the counter to ask what's going on. An older woman starts talking to the lady at the counter and then she tells me to show her my order and I do. Then they tell me to go back home and get the chicken dish and bring it back before they will give me my correct order. After arguing and complaining and getting loud. Which I hate to have to do. They finally handed me the food with no apology or anything. And as I was leaving I saw workers in the back talking and laughing cooking food with no masks on. I threw the food away and ordered pizza. Ya's Kitchen food is so much better and they have awesome customer service!!! It's not worth it to eat at this place. There food is trash and they treat you horribly!!! Would give zero starts if it was an option. Also, there was guys loitering all over the strip mall. It's not a nice location. read more

I drive here from Virginia Beach pretty often, and it is always worth the drive! It's probably the best Thai restaurant I've ever eaten at, and that's saying a lot being from Northern California where they have Thai/Asian restaurants everywhere! The staff is very friendly, you don't wait a long time for your food, and you're always given a pretty good amount for what you pay for. Whatever you order, from the curry to the noodles to the rice, everything is always cooked well, and delicious! I have no complaints, just maybe if they opened a Thai Papaya in VA Beach that'd be awesome. read more

Yummy tom yum soup! Very friendly staff. Reasonable price. Will definitely visit again!

This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant to eat at with my husband. The shopping center and location may feel intimidating, but the restaurant is small and quaint. The servers are always super friendly and attentive. Lunch time is pretty busy since it is so close to Langley Air Force base. I love getting the Chicken Pad Thai with a Thai Iced Tea. The Pad See Ew and Thai Fried Rice with shrimp never disappoint either. My meals are always delicious :) read more

Recently it just hasn't been the same i normally get combo fried rice no shrimp extra Thai hot and it USED to be amazing!!! With moist tomatoes and cut up eggs now it's not even hot/spicy and like two small pieces of tomatoes and barely any eggs...two stars because the people that work here are super kind but if they changed cooks they need to switch back asap..... read more

Delicious food, and a good variety! Also, for those of you into healthy eating, no added sugar in the eggplant and cashew entrees.

My favorite Thai place in Hampton! Their papaya salad is so bomb! I miss this place so much! I literally ate at this place once a week! I love everything! Their larb is also good not too mug onion or lime sauce I wish they used grilled steak like in California but they are good! Lad na is good too not too much gravy has just enough flavor! read more

Wow, what a delicious Larb! Don't let the dated look of the shopping center fool you, the food is really delicious. Fast to go service and outstanding flavor. read more

This place is definitely an office favorite, and for good reason. The food is usually fantastic. They are a bit slow, so we have to plan an early lunch to ensure we get out of there on time - they are always packed during the full lunch rush. The owner seems nice - he comes out to chit chat with us every once in a while when it's not too busy. The drunken noodles, kapow, green curry, beef salad, and ginger perfect are all very good. read more

For those who remember Chawee's ("do you want to cry or do you want to die!"), this place carries on the tradition of great Thai food. All the entrees are excellent, although eating in during lunch time can be difficult. As other Yelp members have mentioned, this place packs in fast during lunch time and it will take a while to get your food if you bring a large contingent with you to the restaurant. I've found luck ordering take-out most of the time. read more

Excellent. Favorite Thai in area. Try the pumpkin curry!

I went on a road trip with a friend and we stopped in Hampton to go to Thai Papaya, which is a restaurant he really liked while in the Air Force in this area. I thought it was very good. We both got the Kapow with beef and it was great. I asked for mild spice in my food and it was plenty spicey for me, but I'm not really big into spicey food. I believe there are some jars on the table for you to add more spice to your food, but I'm not totally sure because I don't eat Thai food much. It was around lunchtime on a Friday and it was pretty packed, so it looked like a lot of people in the area agreed that this was a great place to go for lunch. You seat yourself when you come in and there's a pretty good menu selection. Service seemed fine to me. I'd go back! read more

This place is legit! I go here for their chicken pad thai - hot!! Food is on point! Ahhh, just thinking about it is making me hungry!! It is located on some sketchy little parking lot area. It's cool though, I am willing to risk my life for some of that pad thai goodness. I haven't tried any other dish simply because I am in love with their pad thai. Did I mention how good their pad thai is?? !!!! Go get some, you silly rabbits! :) read more

This is definitely a hole in the wall place that from the outside looks kinda eh..but the food and customer service is on point! My husband took me here for my birthday lunch this weekend and I was not unimpressed. We recently moved from California and I was skeptical to try Thai food somewhere new but I really enjoyed this place! Their Thai Fried Rice and Drunken Noodles were super yummy and fulfilling. read more

This place is conveniently located right outside Langley AFB. It's very modest and definitely a "hole in the wall" but the food is really good. Everything I've had there is very tasty and the service is very good. The food is very spicy and the only time I'll ask for medium spice is if I know I don't have too many more hours of work ahead of me. I've been here a few times in the last few weeks and have not been disappointed. The beef salad is excellent. Great place! read more

Great Thai restaurant. I love the Thai tea and sticky rice with mango. The dumplings are amazing.

So glad my boyfriend and I found this little gem on a winter's day! We had just dropped a friend off and were looking for somewhere to grab dinner. We found this place on Yelp as a highly rated restaurant in the area so we went for the plunge. We had our doubts at first, since this place is in a dark little strip mall right next to unsavory looking establishments. But inside, it was warm and full of couples looking for some heat to spice up their cold Friday night. It did take a while for a server to find us because they were a bit understaffed and several people came in for take-out orders. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai at medium heat and the green curry, suggested by one of the Yelpers, at hot. The pad thai was flavorful and spicy, just the right amount of heat for my tolerance level. There was also lots of chicken that was surprisingly tender. I was also glad that even though the noodles were fried, they weren't greasy. The only thing missing was some peanuts for crunch. The green curry was good, but a little too spicy for my tolerance as well as piping hot in temperature, so I had to eat lots of the white rice they served with it. It had mushrooms and bits of pork in it - overall, just OK. The pork seemed a bit overcooked, but that may have been because it was left in the curry soup for too long. I didn't really enjoy the flavor of the curry either and it was a bit too thin for my taste, even for Thai curry. And there didn't seem to be enough pork and mushrooms in comparison to the curry soup to justify the price. I would definitely come back to eat the Pad Thai again, but I would pass on the Green Curry. Next time, I'd like to try the Panang Curry. If you're in the area, definitely try this place out! read more
