We explored this Restaurant in one of the events where they were catering, and I honestly loved some of their appetizers. They were serving their their cocktails and their presentation. It was an Asian Thai restaurant authentic one, but they had an artistic and a creative view. ever since then I always wanted to visit this place with a bunch of friends so we can try a lot of dishes. Well, today was a time we visited this place with bunch of friends celebrating a lot of occasions they were shortstaffed yet they tried everything they could to give the best customer service. Let it be for seating serving taking an order the amount of time kitchen was taken to prepare it, etc. etc. We ordered an appetizer sampler coconut shrimp fried tofu pad Thai noodles, MaSaman, curry pad, Gaprow and multiple different cocktails. Before we get to that, let's talk about helper/waiter/server ALAIN. It was such a pleasure meeting this gentleman. He was not only running around, making sure everybody was good. He spent quite a bit of time with us, explaining as a menu, extremely kind, very generous and outstanding customer service although we were told that the manager was not available and they were shortstaffed. He left no option and made sure that we were extremely happy and satisfied people like him always makes a four star a five star a three star a four star if I'm ever going back to this place it's always going to be for the food and people like him who will make more and more customers come back huge kudos to him. We visited Thai Orchaid on a weekday. Upon arrival there were very few tables full but when we put in our name we were told it would be over 1.5 hours. We decided to wait because surely it wouldn't be that long. After about thirty minutes and not a single one of the empty tables filled they sat us. Stay clear from this place. They took forever to bring our food out. And I ended up getting E.Coli From this place and am still recovering after a trip to the ER. When I sat down the white table cloth is covered by glass, underneath the glass there was a dead bug and hair. I was seated by the window and there were flies that kept buzzing. When I unraveled my silverware there was a hair. I ordered the Pad Thai and it took forever to come out. It had a weird smell and off tastes to what I remember (I used to get take out from here from lunch all the time). I finished my food and went about my day until the next morning on an empty stomach I was having MAJOR stomach issues. It was so painful and couldn't keep down any liquids or foods. I fought for 7 days going to the bathroom 10-13 times per day and I got worried about dehydration so I went to the ER to get more fluids and more intense test. Come to find out I got E.Coli the one that they don't initially test you for at the dr's office it's a more intensive test. They kept asking me if I had traveled and I told them the last real meal I had was from Thai Orchid. They told me that someone in the kitchen had probably traveled and went to prepare the food without washing their hands and passed it to me. I did more asking around and 5 of my co workers got food poisoning from here as well. Googled it and the first article I saw was how it failed its tests with the health department. This place needs to be shut down. I had some good times but it's not the same, e.coli is serious and if I was elderly I could've died seeing how much fluids I lost. I was weighting 145 in a matter of days I was down to 135LBS STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

The only thing that bothered me was that they close at 9:30 and before 9 they started to clean and felt like we being rushed out to leave. Other than that the service was really good. I ordered some dinner for my wife and I tonight. My wife ordered the Pad Thai w/chicken. She loved her meal. We both shared the Crab Rangoon and boy was it delicious!!!!!! I ordered the meat combo fried rice. Mind you, I ordered the mild, but. Nothing had flavor...the meat was bland as all heck and the rice seemed flavorless. My wife and I took a Wednesday trip here! Started our meal with crab rangoon and fried veggie dumplings and, while both were amazing, the crab rangoons were amazing. We both thought they were the best we've ever had! The double delight dish was good but I think if it were sweeter it would've been amazing. My wife got the pad thai and she enjoyed it a ton! I was in Kansas City from early October until mid December 2024 and most nights when I'd get back to the hotel I'd just order delivery. Thai Orchid quickly made my short list of places to order from. In particular I would order their Laab with chicken. It took me a bit of searching through the local Thai places until I found one that served Laab (sometimes spelled Larb) and I couldn't have been more happy with it! I would generally order Hot or Extra Hot and it was always very enjoyably spicy for my preferred spice levels, which is very much on the high side. This wasn't the closest restaurant, Thai or otherwise, to my hotel which was near the airport on KCs north side. Even still the delivery was always fresh, hot and delicious. Highly recommended if you like Thai food that isn't Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles or (Red, Yellow, Green, Massaman) curry. I mean that stuff might be really good here as well but that's not the kind of Thai food I like so I don't know. read more

This restaurant is situated in a not so fancy strip mall area, and when you walk in the ambiance certainly doesn't add much. It's a big room devoid of much decor, and very quiet music that you can hear any conversation from any table very well. Most people whisper because of how awkward the silence can be, but there was one table that wanted to broadcast to the whole restaurant. The food is okay - we got a pad Thai with shrimp and Masaman curry with chicken. The curry was well seasoned and went well with rice, and this was the saving dish. Pad thai was seasoned too sweet, without good smokiness to it, so it was just a bit too much. The shrimp was way overcooked and essentially was like biting on rubber pucks. Our waitress was nice, checked in on most tables around us but not ours, so we couldn't send the shrimp back, although, the chicken in the pad Thai was also over cooked so this may be a trend. They do a lot of carry out orders, so be prepared to wait a while for your order. I advise that you order an appetizer while you wait or you may go hangry! I don't think we'll be back, except for a quick take out. read more

I had a voucher for Thai Orchid that I bought months ago and wasn't even sure if it was still valid. I called in a take out order for the Khao Soi Duck, Coconut Shrimp, and Larb Chicken Bites. On arrival, the host informed me the voucher says it's for dine-in only but they were able to make an exception. It also took some work to track down the voucher info, so I appreciated them going the extra mile for that. The restaurant itself seemed really cozy & casual with traditional Thai decor. The duck in the Khao Soi was tender, and the sauce had a nice balance of sweetness & heat (though I would have preferred it a little spicier, I don't think that was option). The Coconut Shrimp was perfectly crispy without being overcooked, and I liked that it had just a hint of coconut flavor. I wasn't a fan of the Larb Chicken, I liked the taste of the Larb seasoning but the chicken itself seemed overcooked. Will definitely be back to try some of their lunch specials. read more

First time at Thai Orchard. I absolutely love Thai food, but this place did not deliver. We ordered the pineapple fried rice. It didn't appear to be fried at all more like just steamed. And it was heavy with curry flavor. not the same as most other Thai restaurants would serve it. there appears to be nothing on the menu with a Thai basil in it, which is my all-time favorite dish. The crab Rangoon was great and the Thai wings which had basil on them that was not Thai basil were good. Friend recommended this place and I ended up coming here multiple times within the next couple weeks. I love their Thai coffee and for an additional "kick" get the cocktail version. I really like the way the form their crab ragoon and they are the right ratio of cream cheese and crab but also use the lighter type of won ton wraps. My go-to first visit is always the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and this was a tasty dish. I ordered mild but would recommend a medium. It had a good portion of shrimp. This is such a gem of a Thai restaurant. We had Cody serving us and he was incredibly helpful and friendly. Knows the menu well and can make well informed suggestions and recommendations. They were very accommodating here. I took the Thai Orchid kitchen, one of their special dishes and it was exactly as cost had described down to the texture. I'm a big fan of the peanut sauce and it was delicious. It is located in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking. It is quite spacious indoors also. As we were looking at the menu we saw lunch specials and we thought this would be perfect because we weren't that hungry. Unfortunately, they don't do the lunch portions on Saturdays! I would highly recommend getting the crab rangoon. This place by far has the best crab rangoon and the sauce that goes with it! As for the pad thai, I got medium spice level and it was still spicy for me! I would say the pad thai is pretty average just like other thai restaurants i've been to. read more

Hands down best Thai I have had in the US. The service is exceptional and the staff understands food allergies extremely well. The owners are typically there and greet their guests or stop by the table. Word of warning, the mild can be slightly spicy, so if you are sensitive to spice I recommend level 1. We have brought family members who've never had Thai food and they have all loved this place. Their sauces are to die for ( I love dipping sauces!, this place has the best, especially for gluten free). Their pad Thai is not overly sweet, which is spot on. All of their currys are phenomenal and you can tell they make them from scratch. We usually get their spring rolls to start ( the cold ones bc they are GF) and I could easily order them as my meal. They do serve alcohol, I typically do not order--but they have a decent selection. I recommend a reservation, especially on a weekend. We have ordered to go and have had no issues. The yellow curry is my favorite of all the curries they have - especially if you like sweet/creamy flavors. I highly recommend the Thai tea as well - super yum. Overall, I enjoyed every second of this place. If you like authentic far-from-chain-restaurant kind of meals, this is it.
