During my first visit I was surprised at how small and intimate the restaurant was It was very clean on the inside which is a huge factor for me when choosing an establishment to eat at I had called to pick up the seafood Tom Yum noodle soup and omg it was incredible I feel like it would've been even better if I ate it fresh instead of picking up and driving my food back home 30 minutes The second time I went, we actually sat down to eat. Even my picky eater loved the food and gave the place an 8 out of 5 stars. We came for the food but will be coming back for the experience. This place is awesome. Since my regular Thai restaurant closed, I have struggled to find a good replacement. I have found the replacement now and am not sure why I had not tried Thai Orchid earlier. I went there for the first time for a work lunch and returned the next week for dinner. Dining area is small (about 20 seats) so reservations are recommended but not required. I was lucky to get seated right away with both visits but the place fills up quickly. The food is amazing. Freshly cooked and didn't mind the short wait. Owner is super friendly. This was my first time eating at Thai Orchid (well, takeout), and the food and service definitely lived up to the hype. I had the drunken noodles with egg rolls as an appetizer. The drunken noodles were perfectly balanced with savory and sweet strong flavors and the noodles had a perfect texture. I would like just a little more heat next time -- so I'll ask for extra chilis. The egg rolls might have been the best egg rolls I have ever eaten. Perfect texture and flavor. I also have to give a shout-out to Ricky for the amazing service. Apparently they use real Thai chilies which make dishes incredibly hot. If you want the specialty noodles, you have to order them ahead of time. Tried to get a table the night before for dinner and they did not have availability, so we tried the next day for lunch. This was our first time here & I am so glad we decided on this spot today. Parking is limited but we were lucky to move into a spot where someone was leaving. The restaurant looks small judging from the outside & actually, upon entering, it's just as cozy. It seemed like there were a 2-3 tables for up to 4, a table for 6 & a longer grouping where you could squeeze 6-8 maybe. This place was so cute in a homely way. We were greeted right away & told that everything was made to order & could take up to an hour & hopefully we were not in a hurry. We weren't. I guess it's possible for people to order, leave for a bit & come back since you must wait your table's turn for your order to be made fresh & served. We got our own carafe of ice water & the metal mugs were an exotic touch. We watched the huge tv from our table while waiting. I ordered the green curry with chicken, my husband had the Tom yum noodle soup with seafood. And we shared the fresh spring roll with shrimp, each getting one. Honestly, we did not have to wait unusually long for our spring rolls to come out, nor the other dishes when I think about it. Why didn't I take pictures?! The spring rolls were surprisingly big in our opinion. We've had some from a couple other places & we don't remember them being as full as these. They were served with 2 dipping sauces, tasted so fresh & looked just like the picture did on their menu. I love green curry. I have never had a green curry that I actually didn't like. Except for the artificially colored neon green curry from that one place further down...but I digress. You get a generous portion of curry, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't as chock full of different veggies but the amount of coconut flavor/soup, meat (chicken) & spiciness were so right. I actually ended up taking a little home. My husband's Tom yum soup came in a very big bowl which come to find out was their smaller portion. Lol. Needless to say, he took a lot home because he was so satisfied with what he did eat on top of our fresh spring roll. He thought it was full of flavor & seafood. Great tip we learned was that if a dish does not come with an option for spice, do not add it. It typically is not made to be consumed as spicy, although you can add your own pepper condiments at the table if you like. As for value, we're just getting use to this year's new normal of high inflation & rising prices so if you're not up to spending 7 or 8, 15 & 20 for these dishes as described, you may want to pass, but I think you'll be missing out. With us getting great friendly service with a smile in such a cute quaint spot with great tasting food, I definitely recommend Thai Orchid & will be back the next time the we're in the mood for Thai. read more
