I have to say, this is the best Thai around, especially in or near Puyallup... Very tasty, we have tried a few of the appetizers, fried rice meals and the pad thai, and fried banana and coconut ice cream....the rice is super tasty, its like they fry it in curry, its just some of the best fried rice I have ever had. And who thinks to put mango and dried cranberries in fried rice...so friggn good. The staff is friendly, not overly friendly, but the food is so good and quick it doesnt matter to me. Its clean, comfortable, and I certainly recommend it to anyone who is nearby. Also, as far as the Thai places Ive been, when I get the bill here Im always surprised...because its so LOW! I gave 1 star because the Pho was still hot when it was delivered with Door Dash. The Pho broth and beef was tasteless, even after adding hoisin sauce it still added little flavor. The meatballs tasted like they came from frozen. The broth was not skimmed very well because I kept finding bone fragments in it. The rice noodles were delivered in the same container as the vegetables, that I did not care for. The to go container for the broth was delivered in a plastic container, instead of styrofoam container, and burnt my fingers as I tried to pour into a large bowl. The food was so fresh! My husband and I are visiting from Houston, Texas where we eat all sorts of Asian cuisine regularly, but this stuff was really good... So good that I am writing this review. To quote my husband, "this is the best pad Thai I've ever had!" He ordered beef pad Thai (the spicy scale goes from 1-5 by the way) and I ordered the beef pad see ew which came with a solid serving of beef and super fresh veggies (baby corn and green beans). We live about 45 minutes north of Puyallup, so whenever we happen to be in the area eating at Thai Mekong is considered a special treat. Unlike many Thai restaurants, there are a few specialty dishes at this restaurant you won't find elsewhere. Their avocado fritters are to die for, and their Mango Delight and Mee Gai are amazing. The more traditional and common Thai dishes (Tom Kah, Phad Thai, etc.) are also very good and come highly recommended. Above all, though, the service at this restaurant is far better than anywhere I've ever eaten. The owner is incredibly gracious and goes above and beyond to make sure her customers are taken care of. read more

This is our go to place to eat, and we have been frequent customers for about three years now. Our family loves Thai food and this place is the best! Mekong Thai is one of the few restaurants my whole family from my mother, husband, oldest to youngest kiddo can all agree. We eat here at least once a week, sometimes 2-3 times. The owners are lovely people and have our usual orders memorized. It is a sweet example of customer service that we have noticed with some of their other regulars too. Worst I've had in the area! Couldn't figure out why everything tasted burnt but the waitress finally said "we haven't changed our oil this week". OMG Dirty burnt oil so the calamari was almost black. Even the spring rolls, which are hard to mess up because their premade, tasted terrible. The chicken phad Thai was average at best and very sticky with a bunch of red hot chili peppers dumped on top. She said I could get something else. Chicken lettuce wraps should be rather fresh since they're not deep-fried... I was wrong. It's not even like real Thai food. The curries here are not good! I have never left a bad review, but i feel this is necessary. I love massaman curry, it's my favorite. Every Thai place i go to I get curry and the massaman is usually my favorite. The massaman curry I got from this place is inedible. It's drowned in a peanut sauce and doesn't even normally come with potatoes here, it comes with pumpkin!? I substituted potatoes for pumpkin, they gave me one small, 3/4" cubed potatoe. This is not even a massaman curry. My girlfriend ordered a Panang curry wich was also not good, but at least it had a panang curry flavor. Haven't been in this area that long. Still looking for good authentic Thai restaurant so I ordered to go. Customer service was great, no choppy English on the other side of the call, was greeted with a smile and quick service. Picked up (1) Chicken pad thai spicy level 3; pretty decent is all I got to say. I prefer my pad thai sauce color and flavor to be on the lighter side. (2) Papaya salad spicy level 3. It was spicier than the pad thai. Most importantly, it is not authentic! I had to toss this out. Why? The sauce literally smells and tastes like watered down mae ploy sweet chili sauce (best with eggrolls, spring rolls, or chicken wings as a dipping sauce). Most disgusting Thai food I've ever had. I love Thai food and have been to many different restaurants but this was just horrible. The waitresses were nice and the prices were reasonable but as soon as we got our food it was instant regret. My noodles were squishy, clumped together and had no flavor, my husband ordered a level 5 spicy dish and all he got was an overwhelming amount of red pepper flakes, a couple pieces of chicken and burned vegetables. Our friends fried rice was burned and the shrimp she got still had the tails on them. The only good thing was the Tom Kha soup but even that had way too many mushrooms that weren't even cut into small pieces and big tomato slices that I had to pick out. Went here for the first time last night, and was disgusted. I love Thai, and am not picky, but this place left a mark for worst Thai I have ever had. I came in a party of three. Place looked good, clean, good service! That's where the compliments end. Two out of 3 dishes were burnt, and just coated in red pepper flakes, to the point of being crunchy! I tried picking around the burned parts and the chunks of pepper flakes, but it was difficult to find any chicken or even noodles! None of us liked the food, even though we have eaten that same good before! Normally I wouldn't care, the bill came out to be 32$, but then the nausea set in. Not to be too vulgar but we had to race back to our house where we spent the night being violently ill. Absolutely the worst food I have ever had! Please avoid this place and go somewhere else, ANYWHERE ELSE!!! If for some reason you get stuck coming here, the Tom Kha with chicken isn't bad, just get it without mushrooms. They put two different types of mushrooms, entire mushrooms, and filled the bowl with it. UPDATE: I just came back to keep this review as thorough as I can. The three of us that went to this restraunt are on day three of having food poisoning, and not mild food poisoning. Internal bleeding bad, as in might have to go into the emergency room bad. The only thing all three of us ate was the soup, so please avoid on the chance that's bad. I cannot stress enough how painful this has been. We might never be able to eat Thai food again because of this. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. UPDATE 2.0 So medical issues from the food poisoning are finally resolving, yes it was caused by this place. But that's not why I am writing this. This is to address the restraunt's comment on my review. The first thing I would like to address is that I am Gene and my wife is Jessica. Both of us have different accounts, and both of us left reviews. Our friend Bronwyn was joining us. 3 people, 3 separate accounts. So no, I did not create accounts. Second, I would like to address that you released information from the bill and call into question the morality of that. I do not see how any of that information was relevant. We started feeling sick from the dishes, why would we want a remade one? I loved Thai and now I can no longer eat it. I have been very thorough with this review, given my opinion, and have not exaggerated the facts of our visit. Probably the best papaya salad I have ever had is served here. The short ribs and bbq chicken is great too. Spring rolls & avocado appetizers. I can't say enough good things The owner's daughter(?) Is always a great host/waitress, but the others are very blank and not informative. Always feel like a nuisance to them. One thing I will say bothers me is the amount of fruit flies they have hovering the place. Every time we are bothered by them. I will always still come here though. Being that Thai food is my favorite, I've eaten at a lot of restaurants all across the country (California, Arizona, Boston, NC, and the list goes on). This was by far the worst I've had. The noodles were soggy, the food was not spicy at all, and just all around blah. I had the chicken Pad See Eew, my husband had the Chicken Pad Thai, and we shared the cashew pineapple rice. Neither of us ate more than maybe 5 bites. I was hopeful that we'd found a closer Thai option, but we will gladly make the 45 min drive to Lacey to ensure good, fresh Thai cuisine in the future. read more

I went in for a "lunch for 1" and had eyes and an appetite much larger than my stomach. Sweet and helpful, Ashleigh, greeted me, was my server, and answered all my inquiries!!
