I ordered a few things from here. First, the pad Thai that I asked to have 5 star spice was not the least bit spicy at all. It was sweet? Tangy? I don't know what it is but it isn't the pad Thai flavors I'm used to! And mind you, I've been eating pad Thai for years!!! The spice was like 0.25 star spicy. I don't get it. Who's the cook? First time here, but won't be the last. I'd post a picture of the dishes I got, but the aroma from the take-out boxes was too much goodness to handle, so we dug in. We got the Crispy Garlic Pork, Pad Lad Na, and Spring Rolls (the tamarind sauce was a unique and welcome touch). All of the dishes were fresh and delicious. The food was delicious. We got Thai fried rice with shrimp and I got the pad me gai. It has grilled chicken on it that was amazing. The sauce was a sweet and lime and garlic taste. I had never had any before but it was so delicious. I am not from around here but it was a good stop for a hungry couple after hiking in MT Rainier. Let me preface by saying I have a dairy and egg allergy. This was simply amazing. The waitress knew the menu well- and the meal arrived at the table with the allergies respected and dishes flawless. So often I find myself disappointed that "prawn " dishes are 3-5 smallish shrimp. This... was not that. It was amazing. Incredibly well executed dishes from a cooking skill point of view and honestly delicious. All of the various veggies in the dish as well as the prawns and rice noodles were excellently cooked -- nothing over or under done. Everything seasoned perfectly. Well i had an appointment with my doctor in Seattle and my sister asked can you drop off something to my friend in Seattle. Anything my big sister ask, its a given that you deliver for her. After leaving my appointment at the doctors at Harborview we get some shopping done in downtown Seattle. Wife loves the Zara store there. What a wonderful human soul. Its really refreshing to meet someone by the way she carries herself. She says let me feed you guys for driving 4 hours here to bring me the gifts your sister sent. We both declined since we were still regrettably stuffed from our previous stop Restaurant was tucked in a shopping strip. Really well decorated with the lucky bamboo and the nice table setting. For starter we got Thai iced tea. What makes this drink even more special is the crushed iced. They took it up a notch on their ice game, Most restaurants have cubed ice(meh) pellet ice (oh yeah) crushed ice (oh yeah yeahhh) Then we get served with i do believe is something filled with creme cheese and avocados. Bomb.com We also received Pad se Ew with the fixings. Very flavorful with their sauce and its really hard to achieve a charred wok taste without going overboard to make it taste burnt. We also got a tossed salad dish that was popping off with all sorts of Thom Yumm flavor. Just picked my take out up, pad Thai my fave. it was supposed to be mild. Thirty minute drive home and I find this covered in peppers. Spoke to the girl who I told "mild no spice" and she a started laughing at me. Nice. Not!!!!!. They would be happy to replace my food as long as bring it back. It's a 30 minute trip one way in hellish traffic. Frustrated beyond belief. So incredibly disappointed. Made worse by having zero food in my house since we just moved. My expectations were high since we came during dinner and everyone was telling the chef "thank you, your food is delicious" I thought my food would be delicious too!! Ummmm.... far from delicious like 10 miles from delicious. We ordered 4 dishes ... should've taken pictures so you can see exactly how much we ate. Barely anything!! Left this place and was still hungry. I ordered sticky rice and they gave me some white rice that's like uncle bens. I came from Hawaii so I know my rice. Never EVER coming back. We just moved away from the Puyallup area, and I must say there are only 2-3 places we'll miss. This is one of them. The "last meal" did not disappoint, nor did the first and every other visit in between. Beyond the authentic food, the friendly attentive staff will keep you coming back. I usually get the Panang Curry with chicken, and my wife would get the Tom Kha with tofu. We've tried other authentic dishes, but keep coming back to these two. A little tip, if you like the traditional spicy Thai flavor, you can request some crushed Thai chillies to go beyond the 1-5 spice level. You have the option of traditional white, or healthier alternative brown rice. We suggest for desert the sweet rice with mangoes. Updating my review from awhile back. We decided to go here for dinner last night. The restaurant strongly smelled of cleaners. I'm not sure if they just did a deep clean or if it was an actual air freshener. Either way, I want to smell food when I go to eat, not cleaners. We've lived in Puyallup for over 17 years and ever since Thai Mekong has opened, it has been our favorite Thai place! Everything that we have ever gotten has been amazing. Pineapple cashew, the pad Thai, red curry, pa rama peanut, everything. The customer service and the waitresses are always SO nice and sweet. They even recognize my family and I when we go in (hint: we're regulars lol). Honestly had no idea what to expect from this place. I recently moved to the area and previously had a very poor experience at another restaurant...so needless to say I was skeptical. But HOLY MOLY THIS PLACE IS GOOD. I got the Mekong Fried Rice and my boyfriend got the Pa Rama Peanut and we were so impressed! The fried rice was probably the best fried rice I've ever had. Delicious!! First time here and started with the avacado fritters. These were so good! Crispy Outside, gooey creamy inside with an amazing sauce to dip them in. Then came the short rib plate and the passion noodle plate. Both plates were cleaned in no time! Good portion sizes that were very filling. I brought it to the woman...away from everyone else so I didn't draw attention to this. I went into this place tonight on a whim, thinking that a Thai place closer to my house would be ever so much more convenient than the one I love on South Hill. I should have made the drive. While the service was wonderful and they were nice , this is the worst Thai food I have ever eaten in my life. The peanut sauce is bland and tastes like glorified peanut butter, it was not cooked well, and I cut my tooth on something mixed into the food that had the consistency of glass or pottery. I have to say, this is the best Thai around, especially in or near Puyallup... Very tasty, we have tried a few of the appetizers, fried rice meals and the pad thai, and fried banana and coconut ice cream....the rice is super tasty, its like they fry it in curry, its just some of the best fried rice I have ever had. And who thinks to put mango and dried cranberries in fried rice...so friggn good. The staff is friendly, not overly friendly, but the food is so good and quick it doesnt matter to me. The food was so fresh! My husband and I are visiting from Houston, Texas where we eat all sorts of Asian cuisine regularly, but this stuff was really good... So good that I am writing this review. To quote my husband, "this is the best pad Thai I've ever had!"
