A LOT of life has happened since then, so we definitely had plenty to catch up on. Neither of us had been to Bloom Thai before, but we both love Thai food, so we decided to give it a try. This place is definitely different from any Thai restaurant I've been to before. It's super small, with only a handful of tables. You order at the counter, grab your number, and find a table. They also have a big jug of cucumber water that was so refreshing! They didn't have my usual yellow chicken curry, so I decided to try something completely different--the drunken noodles. I honestly had no idea what I was ordering, but OH MY GOSH... I was in love with this dish! The flavors were fantastic, and they topped it with deep-fried basil. I'm not even kidding when I say I think I've dreamed about that crispy basil every day since! It was SO good! The food was definitely the star of the show for me, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I think this is such a fun little spot to meet a friend for lunch, especially if you want somewhere casual and different. That said, it is VERY small, so I personally wouldn't choose it for a family dinner with a bunch of picky eaters or rambunctious kids. The menu is also a little different than your typical Thai restaurant, so definitely keep that in mind. For dinner, I'd probably order it to-go and enjoy it at home. But for a girls' lunch or catching up with a friend? Absolutely! Great little find, and I will definitely be back for those drunken noodles and that amazing fried basil!

The husband, who was serving, checked in several times to make sure I had everything I needed. The chef also stopped by my table when she came out of the kitchen, which was such a thoughtful touch. The pork belly was very crispy(an additional fee), but too salty for my taste. The Pad Thai was good, although not the best I've had. The noodles were cooked well, and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. It did not come spicy, but chili sauce was available to add some heat. The spicy omelette tom yum soup had a great balance of mild spice and sourness, and it tasted very authentic. The texture of the fried omelette after soaking in the soup was not my favorite, but that may come down to personal preference. The Thai iced tea had a good balance of tea and condensed milk, although it was sweeter than I prefer. You order at the counter, and the food is brought to your table afterward. Water is self-service. They also have a helpful sign explaining the ordering and seating process for first-time guests. The restaurant was very clean, nicely decorated, and had a great ambiance. I especially enjoyed the small area showcasing the chef's history and journey. Overall, the warm service and welcoming atmosphere made the experience memorable.

There was a it of a rocky start because they gave our table to another party, which was smaller, so we all were bunched together at the front of the restaurant, which has a tight entry. It was intended for the party of 8. So we didn't have much elbow room to eat. I ordered the golden duck and my partner had basil rice with beef. My best friend ordered a lemon curry chicken that was so good I almost switched our plates. I actually really loved my food too. My partner enjoyed the rice but not the beef. I also had the crab wontons which were super yummy. Everyone pretty much loved what they ordered. They raved about the Thai tea. It truly would have been a five star experience had we been more comfortable. Also, they kind of just forgot about us after they dropped off our main courses. We sat so long without being checked on that none of wanted dessert anymore when quite a few of us were going to order some at first. I'd loved to try it more intimately with less people as they could have maybe just been overwhelmed. Other notes: Not overpriced. Parking wasn't exactly a breeze but I also didn't mind having to walk a bit. It's downtown so it was expected. Very busy, so maybe make a reservation or call ahead? There was outside seating. Bathrooms are not gender neutral. We visited on a Saturday. Happy eating !

It was definitely tasty and I enjoyed the flavors, but I do think the price is a little high for what you get. My favorite dish was actually my husband's steak with their crack sauce. Overall, everything was decent and nothing was bad, but I'm not sure if I would come back specifically for the food. The steak with the crack sauce was definitely the highlight of the meal, though! The guy who took our order was very nice and sweet. He was so patient and making sure it's not spicy or have cilantro on certain dishes

Since it was our first visit, we went with two featured recommendations from the QR menu: Crispy Garlic Chicken and Panang Curry with Tofu. Both dishes come with a hearty side of rice! As self-proclaimed Crispy Garlic Chicken enthusiasts who order it at every Thai spot we visit, we were blown away. NANA's version is perfectly flavored and pairs so seamlessly with rice that we couldn't stop eating! The Panang Curry with tofu was equally divine--rich, fragrant, and pure comfort food. To top it all off, the Iced Peach Thai Tea was amazingly refreshing and a fantastic pairing for the meal. If you're anywhere near Tacoma, do yourself a favor and check this place out!

From the moment we walked in, no one was warm, no one even welcomed us, we had a reservation and still waited to be seated. The host was not friendly. Our waiter didn't even introduce themselves and it took us 30 minutes to get water after asking. Our drinks came out all at separate times, I had to remind him for my mom's prebiotic soda, which he served in the can, no glass and didn't open it. Our meals all came out at different times as well. Overall no one had a sense of urgency, no one seemed to prioritize a good dining experience, and it was so disappointing because again the food and ambience was there. For a long time I got Drunken Noodles whenever going to a Thai restaurant if I could but the last few times I have wanted something different than that. So on this outing I got the the House Ginger. This was a stir fry with your choice of protein (mine was chicken), ginger, stir fry sauce, garlic, onion, bell pepper, green onion and carrot. It also came with rice and the portion sizes were very satisfying and not too much. The flavor on my meal was so good, very fresh and bursting with flavor. Steve was equally impressed with his as he got the Drunken Noodles. Nothing is too fancy here. Decor is more basic but the place is clean and the food (at least mine) came out in containers but it was so good it didn't really matter. I think a lot if how it's presented is for the "to go" crowd of customers if I remember hearing that correctly from other people I chatted with about their meals here. Very good place with friendly service. Definitely worthy of all the stars!

Overall, Thai cuisine is a great choice. Environment: I arrived around 2:00 PM, and since it was past the lunch rush, there weren't many customers. The environment was very clean, with bright and spotless windows. Taste: I ordered the chicken with rice and added a portion of green curry beef. The chicken with rice was the restaurant's recommendation. It was impressive at first bite and quite enjoyable, but it became saltier as I ate toward the end. The portion of chicken was modest, so overall, it's still recommended. As for the green curry beef, it wasn't very rich, and the beef was scarce. I had expected chunks of beef, but what came out was sliced beef coated in starch. The texture wasn't great, so I wouldn't particularly recommend it. Service: The service was good. The staff came over to ask how the meal was, always serving with a smile.
