The crispy garlic chicken has shrunk in amount and also we got it and it is drowning in sauce...so "crispy" is no where to be seen. When I ate it (mind you we live 5-6 min away from our house) it is really mushy...yuck. My partner decided to order a different kind of noodle and it was disgusting. It's ramen noodles with this weird flavor with eggs, bbq pork and spinach, but it looked like they forgot the spinach in the wok and just threw it in the box. Don't waste your time...it's not good! I've visiting Thailand and this is the only place I can get quality Thai food. My husband loves their PadThai with chicken & shrimp. Yum, I'm getting hungry!! I love their fresh rolls! They are the best around. Not fishy. You can pair with peanut sauce or sweet and sour sauce. My favorite is the Papaya Salad or Som Tom. It tastes most like I make at home. Always fresh and for the price it a steal, knowing how hard it it's to make. I always get this with a side of sticky rice so I can eat up all the deliciousness! They have great stir fry dishes and curries. The chicken wings are great too. The atmosphere is great and the customer service is great. We decided to try it again for the Reateraunt Rally to support small businesses during Covid. The food tastes fine (nothing outstanding), and the staff is fine and service is fast. The portions aren't that great, presentation is lacking, and the overall rating from this fam is a 3. Not sure what they could do better, maybe just the overall experience?... I've had my fair share of less than exhilarating Thai, but this place has clinched the crown of pathetic Pad Thai. First off, they royally forked up our order. I don't know on what planet two star spice translates to five, but clearly math at Chili Thai doesn't work the same way as here on Earth. It was inedible. All of my last order. The panang curry and the rice. This used to be a favorite restaurant, but I suppose restaurants will give subtle hints when they're tired of doing business. Today, the hints were far from subtle. The sticky rice was a solid mushy lump wrapped in a plastic bag and foil. The curry was full of gritty spices and 5mm linear fibers that probably weren't meant to be eaten. So after eating 3-4 bites I stopped eating it. I ambled in to Chili Thai on a recent Saturday when I was craving some spicy food on a cold PNW day. They didn't disappoint! I ordered my fave, Tom Ka, with chicken and a side of jasmine rice. The soup was delicious! Full of chicken, veggies, and those necessary Thai-esque additions like lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, and galangal root it was creamy and hot. I got three stars, but probably should have asked for four. Thankfully, the brought a spice rack so I could fancy it up to my liking. The portion was HUGE, and I took the rest home for dinner later. They weren't too busy on a Saturday around lunchtime, but the service was good and anytime I can get in and out of a place for lunch for less than $15 (including tax/tip) it's a win! read more

Small portions. Food was ordered online and prepared quicker than expected. Food tasted great, the only downside was that the take out boxes and portions were very small. I was going to share this between two of us, but the portion of garlic beef was less than half of what I've received ordering in elsewhere and in a small take out box. The rice was also about half the size in a very small takeout box. I didn't know they even made those boxes that small. So main point.... Fast prep, food tasted great, but portion size very small compared to other restaurants (eating in). Not sure if this is because of covid or not but I'd rather have prices raised than receive food portions that are unrealistic for dinner. read more

I have never been inside this location. In fact, I didn't even realize it existed until I paid attention to where my uber order was coming from. I have ordered food from this location multiple times and they never disappoint! We have tried pad Thai, swimming Rama (angel?), fried spring rolls, chicken satay, broccoli beef, and massamun Curry. All of them are so yummy!! Sometimes the spring rolls are kinda mushy, but they're amazing reheated in my air fryer! Tip: if you order late they give you Hella free white rice! read more

I've only ever gotten takeout here, it's very good! I tend to order online through chownow and the food is almost always ready within 20 minutes or so. I love the cashew chicken in particular, it has really great garlicky seasoning and comes with lots of veggies. read more

I really like Chili Thai. I order to go and they are always exceptionally kind and ask me how my day is going. My food is always ready when they say it will be and they always ask if I need utensils. The quality is great. I love the fresh rolls (and they didn't raise their prices on them anywhere near as much as similar restaurants in the area) and the Tom Kah Gai and garlic pork are super yummy. I recommend! I really wish they had more diners when I go there. I'm afraid they'll close. read more

I have heard of this place for quite awhile and wanted to try it out. I came if for lunch at about 1:30 and there was only one other table occupied. I was greeted by a friendly hostess and seated immediately. I ordered the appetizer of Fresh Roles (to me spring roles) and a lunch special of Spicy Thai Basil Beef. The spring roles ( and there were three) were excellent. I asked for peanut sauce instead of the menu listed S/S and there was not a problem with the swap. I did add a little chili sauce to mix in it though. They were very fresh and delicious. The basil beef was delicious. I chose #4 spicy and it was perfect. For my friends who are less adventurous I'd recommend starting at one though. read more

So I've eaten here enough times to give it 4 stars. It's close to my neighborhood so that's a plus. We have ordered green curry w/ chicken spice level 4, beef pad se ew, fresh rolls, and BBQ chicken. I like that the spice level is just right (coming from someone who can tolerate habanero peppers). All dishes were full of flavor. Once, they gave me dry BBQ chicken and I was disappointed. It's still one of my favorite dishes because they marinate the chicken in lemongrass and other spices then it gets that smokiness from the grill. If you stay away from the "Americanized" dishes you'll be happy eating here. Plus the service is awesome. As long as this doesn't change, I'll be back. Pet peeve: when restaurants serve everything with sweet "Thai chili" sauce, like the kind you can buy in a bottle. read more

I love Thai food and the food here is just okay. We got the pad thai, drunken noodles, and fresh rolls. The fresh rolls were kind of bland, and the sauce it came with was a too strong. My pad thai was spicy level 3 but was more sweet than spicy. The drunken noodles were spicy level 5 and weren't spicy at all. This is coming from someone who sometimes have trouble eating food with jalapeno in them! They added vegetables in the drunken noodle dish sparingly which was disappointing. The texture of the noodles didn't taste fresh and had a springy texture as if they were store brought or a day old. The service here was great -- I can give them that. Our server was very kind. I don't write reviews much, but I felt like this place called for an exception. A few of my coworkers told me this is a great thai place and since I just moved to the area, I should check it out. First, the appearance and cleanliness, this place is not up to par. There were three tables occupied when we went in, yet there were food scraps all over the floor. Plus it just smells off. If the smell of funk over powers the smell of Thai food, something isn't right. Next, after sitting down despite my better judgment, we ordered crispy spring rolls and two orders of pad Thai - a good tester dish for any Thai place. The spring rolls came out in less than 3 minutes. Okay, not bad, but that means they've already taken one trip through the fryer and this was their second bath just to get them hot and crispy. Sadly, they were neither. They also tasted like nothing but old fryer oil. The pad Thai dishes came out 2 minutes later. Seriously. 5 minutes from order to service. Was that a microwave that I heard dinging in the back? We hadn't even finished our first questionable spring roll yet! I ordered mine as a 4 star spicy and my son a 3. I've had pudding with more spice. I can forgive that, but the dish just tasted plain off. It was foul. The chicken was obviously the finest pre sliced, frozen, microwave cutlets. They were slimy and flavorless. They had zero texture. Chicken shouldn't "melt in your mouth." There were also unidentifiable chunks of something in my dish that were obviously scrapings from the pan, and not the good yummy kind. More like the kind that should have found their way into the disposal! My son and I had my best a grand total of 5 bites each. The waitress came and asked if we wanted boxes and I said no. She then just brought the check, not even bothering to ask if there was anything wrong with two whole plates of food left sitting there. When I reluctantly gave my card to her, she then asked if everything was okay. I told her I wasn't pleased and the food just tasted bad. She gave me a confused look, said sorry, then turned and walked away. Save your money. Go to Silk Thai if you want cheap American but good Thai or Indo if you want amazingly awesome Thai. read more

I've lived in 'Tacoma' my whole life. I am a resident of University Place, but I tell people I'm from Tacoma proudly. The same kind of satisfaction I find in telling others that is also found in every order I have from Chili Thai in U.P. I've never had a bad meal here. I continue to never have a bad meal here.
