A pretty decent hole in the wall Thai place in bonney lake.I love that they can make many things vegan which is a plus. Service was friendly but can be bit slow when it's busy. Thai food is one of my favorites. The food here was nice but could have a used a bit more in terms of flavor. A spice level of 3/5 felt bland for us relative to what we get at most Thai restaurants. I also feel they could up level the presentation a bit because the tofu pieces were bit giant and unseasoned. Papaya salad had a pretty big slice of raw cabbage which will just go waste and can be avoided. Apart from that the portion sizes are pretty generous so you will definitely have leftovers. The employees are full of smiles and eager to assist you when you come in. This is still a great spot for Thai food. The food is still on point. I had ordered the following thus far: -Pad Se Ew with beef (delicious) -Calamari appetizer (delicious) -Crispy Chicken (delicious) -Thai tea (delicious but can be a little too sweet & at times too much ice). -Tom Kha with chicken & sticky rice (delicious). -Thai Fried rice (delicious) **Some of these are my favorites. Have had their food twice. The first time was in store. It took a few minutes for them to get to us and take our initial order but the employee was kind and helpful. The spot we were sat (right inside to the left in the corner) was absolutely infested with flies (tiny ones) so that was a lil cumbersome to avoid. The second time we had them was last night. Very busy, which is typical for weekends based on feedback I have seen and heard at their location and from folks that have ordered from them in the past . 3 stars is fairly spicy so be forewarned! It definitely cleans out the sinuses. Steamed vegetables is a recommended add on. This establishment is exceptionally positioned for pickup or takeout. Easy to drive up, pickup at the drive thru window and then turn right at the light to get back on 410 less than ¼ of a mile down the road. I love a good appetizer sampler, and this one was particularly great. 3 dipping sauces?! Yeeees. We also got Pad Khee Mao, which I learned is the same thing as Drunken Noodle which is what I usually get - no wonder it sounded good. I love a wide rice noodle. Staff was friendly! Although the place is quaint, it provides great quality Thai food. I really enjoyed the mango fried rice. It was so good! I would have liked to see more prawns and chicken in it. My husband had the chicken chow mein and he enjoyed it, however, it was dry and didn't have a lot of chicken. The veggies were cooked to perfection though. We also ordered coconut shrimp, gyoza, crab wontons and papaya salad, Thai coffee and tea. I was surprised the crab wontons were so small. The papaya salad had a little too much dressing. Went thru the drive through and was asked repeatedly why she wasn't tipping on her order. Lady at the window saying "my chefs worked hard on this order".. THIS WAS A DRIVE THRU. Tipping culture is out of control and if you're worried about your cooks then PAY THEM MORE. My mother in law was shocked that someone would be that forward asking for a tip. Pad See Ew Beef was the best thing here. Black sticky rice was yummy. The "Thai BBQ chicken platter" was off-putting, as it arrived with some hot chicken pieces and some icey-cold. We decided to try this place. It appears to be a local spot for the people in the area. The ladies took our order and we waited for our togo. The place is small and you can see the people preparing the meals. We went with duck and a shrimp dish with fresh spring rolls, cucumber salad with side sticky rice. They happen to have forgotten to put in our brown rice. We were not disappointed in the food of how it taste. Being half Thai I am VERY picky when it comes to my peoples food it's a cute little restaurant. I tried the basic phas Thai and I will have to say it is one of the best I've ever had. Very flavorful and juicy. If you don't like peanuts let them know as they sprinkle chopped peanuts on it. Next I had the seafood tum yum. It's good , the shrimp is deveined, just wish they took the tail off but no big deal. They use cherry tomatoes which is very good with this dish, I would recommend cutting the cherries in half and letting the soup soak up the cherries tomatoes. We ordered few lunch special , and a few main dishes , there were extremely salty and lack of meat on the special lunch dishes, it like you eat plain pad thai and rice and you have to pay the prize of 15$ each dish that not including tips and taxes . We have 3 adults and 2 childrens they charged 18% gratuity that we have not know or mentioned before. There were lack of parking also . My family and I are extremely lucky to say Thian Thai is the closest restaurant to our home on Lake Tapps. Whenever we lack the patience to cook --which is more often than I'd like to admit--the unanimous decision is to order our level 3 usual: a Ginger entree with chicken, a Garlic Chiang Mai with beef, a Pad Ka Pow, and a Green Curry with a mix of both brown and white rice. The combination feeds our family of four for at least two meals each, and it's hard to beat coming home after a long day and smelling the complex aroma of spices and flavor wafting through the kitchen. When I'm looking for a little pick-me-up, the Beef Noodle Soup (beef pho) is always what I crave. I simply adore the subtle blend of star anise and cloves in the broth, though the beef can easily be overcooked if you leave it in the liquid too long. Expect a bit of a wait as this gem isn't exactly a Bonney Lake secret. In terms of service, everyone is always kind as they rush through various orders. Will is an especially welcome face to see. They have changed my mind! I once thought they were average, but after visiting them for a third time, i think the charm worked. We ordered lemongrass chicken, crispy noodle, and chili paste fried rice. All were so good. My new favorite is the crispy noodle. Reminded me of chow mein with a sweet gravy sauce and crunchy noodles mixed with a variety of vegetables. The chili paste fried rice with tofu needed extra spice, so we got the spice level at a 5. Definitely worth the extra spice. Makes the dish much more enjoyable. Tofu was crisp on the edges and squishy in the middle. The lemongrass chicken was definitely a curry style chicken. It was sweet and not watery. Only problem was the chicken was a bit dry. Overall, I would love to come back for the crispy noodle. I decided to try something outside of Pad Thai so I got Coconut Prawns and yellow curry spice level a 3. The curry was of perfect spice and the coconut prawns were a subtle taste of seafood embraced with fried coconut shavings. Yum. Went to pick up an order today and asked to leave a tip because "all the proceeds go to the kitchen"...a restaurant whose sole business model is to cook and sell food that is on the menu. If tips are mandatory at this establishment to pay their employees they should just include them in the price- and I'll happily decide whether or not I want to pay $18 or 20 for food here or someplace else. Harassing customers for tips isn't going to help- and their employee asking for the tip had the audacity to say "we see you order regularly". That just tells me they don't want my business and I am happy to go somewhere else. Clearly spending my hard earned money and paying the prices their management has set, in addition to driving to pick up the food is somehow not enough, and they would like to be rewarded with a tip for extraordinary service they are already in the business to provide- cooking food. Heck I should have asked for compensation for the milage and gas I wasted to come pick up the food I already paid for. Honestly if you can't pay your employees without tips- your model is broken and you should not be in business. I have had food service jobs in my past and a tip is never expected, and somehow we live in a world where folks have to beg for tips to live. Don't run a business where you can't pay your employees, and to the employees, don't work here because its basically slave labor if they aren't paying you. To the customers don't support a business that doesn't pay it's employees- I certainly am not going back because clearly this place doesn't value repeat customers, nor is it paying their staff enough for the work they are putting in because they have to beg for tips. read more
