Thai Cottage on Bellaire Must be the oldest and one of the first, the earliest review is from 17 years ago ! Its still surviving, they must be doing something right... I like the pastel interior. Nothing too loud. This one painting from days of yore covered one part of the entire wall adding color and vibrancy while still being subtle. Tasteful. The cushion covers on the other hand could do well with a change, but that I guess will require more dine- in customers .... They had quite a few vegetarian options. Got the crispy spring roll, which was really hot and fresh off the stove but a little overcooked to the extent that I felt slightly burnt. I finished it all the same .... it didn't bother me much .....lol For entrees got the Chilli tofu and Red curry It took a while to come. Both were accompanied by a plate of hot jasmine rice. We took the option of medium spicy and that was perfect. At $15 each, felt that the quantity justified the price. Red curry with the bamboo shoots and the chilli tofu both had good texture and taste. I should have left instead of being seated upstairs. I was brought a glass of water. I ordered a tofu with yellow curry. My veggie egg roll never came. I asked for a slice of lemon for my water and never got it. Kiera was my waitress. She was trying her best. The egg roll had to be packed to go because I never received it. Was craving Thai food and this place was the closest to me. Pretty solid! I got the pad Thai, inferno rice, vegggie rolls and panang curry, the essential. I love spicy food and ordered them all hot and they weren't super spicy they were okay. Honestly a go place to go if you're close by and you want some decent Thai food. Place was packed for a Sunday. Tried this place for the first time today & it was pretty decent. There's a large parking lot, but seats inside seem to be limited. Their menu is pretty big. They also have a lunch special menu. Judging by all the awards and accolades on the wall, it appears the heydey for Thai Bistro was nearly 2 decades ago (#1). The place is reminiscent of many Asian establishments in this part of town: a diminished authentic experience semi-overpriced, and primed for the palates of folks in this part of town. On looks alone, Thai Bistro seems to stand out a bit more than the neighboring businesses. It shares the underpass of Summit Square (#2) with a good amount of al fresco dining outdoor seating options. Looks can be somewhat deceiving, as the inside is a little more tight than I would have imagined despite the second level seating. It might not feel super group friendly, but it's definitely got casual date vibes and lunch destination feels. Given how pricey the a la carte options (#3) are, I'd recommend the lunch special which was $12 and under for an entree, mini app, and drink. The options include items such as the bbq lemongrass tofu, pad thai, panang chicken curry, chicken basil inferno, and yellow curry vermicelli. I didn't find much of anything that exciting but we still ordered a heap of food any way. The tom yum was probably the highlight. The prawns were fresh, the smell was fragrant, and the broth was flavorful despite being crazy dark. The fish cakes were a bit of a bummer as they were oily and bland. The pad thai was passable but the penang curry was substantially better. Pad see ew felt average and the fried dumplings / spring rolls were a total bust. When it comes to appetizers, I'd probably stick with the satays or none at all. Minus the food miscues, the real kicker was the service. They were just so slow that it took longer for us to get our check than it did for us to eat our meals. It was hard getting someone's attention for usual things such as water refills or simply ordering more food. There were a lot of uncleaned tables at the end of service but few folks tending to them. I had the panang curry which is always a favorite of mine (I will say, it is a little one the runnier side than I've had before, usually like the sauce alittle thicker). We were around the area and craving for some Thai food, so we stumbled into this cute little place. The environment is very chill, and European for us. We said it seems more like we were in an Italian or Spanish relationship. However, we started out with their assorted appetizers. I was amazed by their spring rolls. We both agreed it's the best spring rolls we've ever had. Not sure how they made it differently, but super yummy. The rest of the appetizers were 9/10 as well. Chicken satay is on the simple side, I wish we were more amazed by it. Then, we picked shrimp pad Thai and chicken lettuce wrap as the entrees. The shrimp pad Thai was not bad at all. And if you like spicy, I recommend to eat it with the dry chili powder. Unfortunately, the chicken lettuce wrap wasn't our favorite. Restaurant is located in a strip mall on US 59 frontage road. They offer inside and outside seating. When we came in, we were quickly shown to our table. We ordered our usual menu that we order in other Thai restaurants to compare. They are well known for their Panag curry where they have a Houston Chronicle write up. We started with the Tom Yum Shrimp. It was decent and had a good number of shrimps. We also tried the papaya salad and was decent as well. Next up was their famous Penang curry... I can see why it is popular. It's is very tasty and would recommend trying it. We also ordered stir fried pork basil dish which was ok. Lastly, we had the mango sticky rice for dessert. Thought it was better than most we had before. Mango was sweet and rice was sweet and creamy. Since our favorite Thai place suddenly shut down, we have been looking for a place to go. Both the food and service was mediocre, There are just too many good Thai restaurants to revisit even if you are buying Papaya Salad--solid 4/5. I added more lime to mine. Something a tad off Tom Yum Soup--3/5. small size soup was $7.50. Pricy for a small bowl. Had theee juicy shrimp in it so guess that makes up for it? I ordered Thai spicy but it wasn't really that spicy. Just a lot of red peppers floating in the soup Lastly and mostly terribly the Thai Classic Inferno coming at 1/5. It's a seafood dish consisting of shrimp, squid and scallop. There were like three shrimps, three to four small pieces of squid and two small scallops. Shrimps were juicy and fresh, but as for the squid, it tasted terrible, not at all fresh. It had a terrible after taste that follow when the seafood is not fresh. The scallops not bad but were rather under cooked. They filled up the dish with carrots and onions, not seafood, both the price and flavor did not deserve $17.95. I can only remember one other Thai restaurant as bad as this in Houston. I tend to tip at least 20% but here I didn't feel bad tipping right at 10% why did the hell did I come eat here? read more

Solid Thai Place in Houston! There's always a decent number of people inside when I visit but it is never full enough to have to wait for a spot to sit. They do have an upstairs area for larger parties as well. The restaurant is inside a large plaza right off 59 so there are plenty of parking spots. I've tried a few dishes here. Their dishes are vegetable heavy. My go to is the Blazing Noodle vegan with tofu and veggies. They accommodate no fish/oyster sauce if you ask for dishes to be vegan. Not many places you can get a meal for under $15 these days. The chicken Pad Thai lunch special really hit the spot. I went with medium which was still pretty spicy. Thankfully the service was spot on and they kept my water glass full. The lunch special came with a bowl of soup and a little side salad. Both of these things are rather average. Overall, a pretty good option for Thai. We tried the Panang Curry with chicken as well as the Seafood Lover. The Panang Curry was alright -- a bit on the watery side. The Seafood Lover was really good -- the curry had a great flavor. It came with 4 shrimp, 2 scallops, and a few pieces of squid. Both the chicken and shrimp were just a tad bit dry though. Thai Bistro was surprisingly really good! It made for the perfect quick lunch on our self care Sunday. We happened to stop by here because we were waiting on our facial appointment nearby, but to our surprise it was great. This little Thai bistro was cozy and inviting. The smell of their Thai food was mesmerizing. The main dining area isn't very big, but they seem to have a private upstairs dining area for parties available. The servers were all friendly and made sure you were well taken care of. As for the food, we tried their pad kee mao with beef spice level 4 out of 5, and their panang curry with chicken spice level 5 out of 5 Thai hot. The panang curry was a lunch special so it came with a small bowl of soup and a side salad also. Both dishes came out piping hot, made to order, and were both big portions. I liked how the pad kee mao had that toasty wok taste and the beef was tender. The panang curry had a nice creamy richness to it, and it was full of flavor without being overly spicy. Don't patronize this place! I loved coming here until the terrible customer service I reciev today. Not only was my request for a specific container to prevent what occurred was blatantly ignored, the manager "Jane" insisted on going back and forth with me instead of just offering to replace my order.It saddens me that today they lost a loyal customer due to the lack of service. This bistro is very unassuming from the outside, but has a nice vibe inside. It's very small but has a good layout with tablecloth-covered tables. Service was friendly and quick. Our appetizers came out probably less than 5 min after ordering and were piping hot! The crispy veggie rolls came with some type of viscous vinegar sauce (which was alright and very interesting) while the crispy pot stickers came with some soy sauce. The veggie rolls were a little bland, but I guess you can't expect much from a veggie roll. The potstickers were super crispy and had a well-seasoned filling of vegetables and chicken. For our entrees, we ordered the eggplant and tofu dish and the tamarind shrimp. The eggplant and tofu dish was savory and had a nice peppery and herbaceous flavor at first; however, when we got toward the bottom of the plate where all the sauce is, it got extremely salty. It became a little difficult to keep eating. The tamarind shrimp had a delicious tempura outside. The sweet tamarind sauce balanced it out well. I wish there were more vegetables on the plate and the portion was a little small. Both entrees came with a bowl of white rice. Parking is easy as there is a lot with big spaces in front. Appetizers: Shrimp in Blanket-- 8/10 seasoned well, not as crunchy as expected and these are usually wrapped in egg roll wrappers, not breaded. Had a soft crunch. Fried Calamari-- 8.5/10 seasoned well and had more of a soft crunch. Crab Fried Rice-- 9/10 I liked how they had lots of lump crab meat. Some restaurants go skimp on the crab. Flavorful. Pad Thai Noodles-- 9/10 Authentic pad Thai flavors. Tiger Cry (Beef)-- 7/10 without the sauce & 8/10 with the sauce. Without the sauce was just grilled beef with no seasoning. With the sauce-- adds a little flavor. Beef Green Curry (MILD SPICY)-- 8/10 not a lot of beef. We love curry and this was really good with white rice. The rice itself was very tasty, soft, moist n loose without being too salty or under-salted, just right. I was made aware of the Thai Bistro by a friend and her family. Today I visited the restaurant with a college friend. We were pleasantly surprised that they had a lunch menu on Sunday which includes a soup and salad with your entree. I LOVE their Panang Curry chicken (I go with medium heat) and chose that. My friend had their Basil Beef at a medium heat level. We shared our dishes with each other and enjoyed both equally. We decided to try a desert and enjoyed Thai Custard with Sweet Rice and Sweet rice with mango. Both were delicious and something we would order again. Their service was wonderful. If you are in the museum district/ Med Center; it's a quick drive down Bissonnet to enjoy a wonderful Thai Meal. I always leave wonderfully satisfied with my meal. Enjoy!! read more

Came in here the other night with my boyfriend as we just so happened to be in the area around dinner time. We ordered the yellow curry with chicken and chicken peanut curry. We had the chicken soft rolls as an appetizer. They had a rice made wrap served with some peanut sauce which was unique but tasty to me! The rest of the food came out quite quickly. The chicken peanut curry was rich and flavorful! The yellow curry with chicken was nice and medium spicy. Personally I was hoping it had some sweetness to it, but it didn't. It wasn't bad by any means but IMO could be better. The price for the quality and portions was a good deal! The atmosphere was really nice, and I definitely want to sit out in their patio next time when the weather is a bit warmer. Service was also really hospitable.
