Thai basil fried rice with prawn/shrimp.

This place is low key and a little hole in the wall in its own right. I disagree with the negative reviews. The food is actually really good with regards to flavor and portion sizes. If I had to criticize anything it's that there was a young guy seating everyone, taking orders and serving the food so it felt like things took forever (I waited 15 minutes for him to take my order). Another criticism I have is that I shouldn't have to constantly ask for ice. I'd definitely come back if I couldn't think of what else to eat in Calgary.

Hot soup was needed to offset the outside. Beht was our waitress, she recommended the Dynamite soup, it was delicious. I also ordered the Basil chicken fried rice, excellent as well!

Drove by this little place several times and decided to give it a try. Had the Pad Thai after reading good reviews online. It was amazing! Cute little restaurant close to the Westin Hotel. Nice vibes. Great service. Every dish was delicious and we would come back again if when we visit Calgary again!

The best Thai food in town!!! Definitely keep coming back for more. Service is really friendly too :)

Checked this restaurant out after we toured Chinatown and we were happy with how fast the food came out after placing our orders. My infant has peanut and egg allergy and I was able to find two dishes that were non peanut and egg free. Overall, our food tasted flavorful, except the tom yum noodle soup was a little bland to our tasting.

It was after seven when I arrived. They close at eight, but the space was about a quarter filled. There's quite a number of tables and they have several large tables, which makes this a good place to consider if you have a large group. I ordered takeout instead of dining at the restaurant. I chose the pad woon sen and a fresh spring roll with chicken appetizer. They didn't have to go containers for drinks, so I was unable to get a drink to go. The food came out super quick. It was less than ten minutes from order to product. There are two spring rolls, which they cut in half, so there's a total of four pieces. The spring rolls were not bad. I really like the pad woon sen however. The chicken was flavorful and the noodles were delicious. They give you a pretty good portion size as well.

The quality of the food and portions was satisfactory. The Pad Thai, mango salad, Tom Kha soup is what you would expect for Thai food (Ie. careful balance of sweet, salty, spicy, and sour/citrus flavours.), but its not the best Thai food in town. Their yellow curry lacked flavour. Hence the 3/5 stars for their food. The food came out relatively fast as we were the only guests that evening seated. However...Let's talk about service... 2/5. My friend and I were the only customers in the dining room. Server didn't greet us when we walked in, just seated us to our tables. She's taking our food order like she doesn't want to be there, "yep. ok. yep." No smiling. We were the ones saying thank you and being courteous. I rarely rate service at a restaurant, because good food speaks for itself. As we were the only table in the room, it doesn't hurt to ask how our food is, which she did not. I would give her props for being attentive for refilling our water. Overall experience was so-so.. I'd take my money else where for better service and food. I'd give this place 2.5/5 on average.

Good authentic restaurant right on a busy stretch of other restaurants and shopping. I think it was in Chinatown but not positive. It was within walking distance of the hotel I was staying at. I was there on a Sunday evening donut wasn't crowded. We were seated quickly and our food was out in no time. Decent sized dining area with about a dozen tables or so. I had the Tom Yum Gum soup and the Thai Fried rice. Both were very good. Authentic for sure.

Outstanding! I always get Tod Mun if they have it. It's fried fishcakes and it has a really distinctive flavor. The fish cakes were good, but the sauce that came with them was over the top. It was the sweet-spicy-cucumber-penuts sauce that normally comes with many of the Thai starters, but this sauce was anything but normal - thick and sweet, and with a real kick of spice dampened by the cucumbers was more like a chutney actually?...I digress. For my main I had the stir fry with chicken, peppers, carrots, onions and cashews (I love cashews and almonds in cuisine). This was superb as well. I liked the fact that they didn't thicken it with cornstarch. I really think that cheapens the dish and blends the flavors too much. Anyway, I really liked Thai Bistro. Lots of locals enjoying dinner or getting take out. I would have never found this place if it wasn't for Yelp - in fact, I drove by it twice today and didn't even know it - thanks Yelp.

We've finally found a good Thai place! Good service, tasty food and reasonably priced! We ordered tom yum w/ shrimp, shrimp pad thai and chicken red curry and we paid the same amount with a lot less food in Thai Nong Khai. The shrimp in the tom yum tastes very fresh and the broth is has that right amount of tang that will wake up your taste buds for the feast to come. The curry had the right amount of curry and spice but I think they should add more chicken meat to the dish. And finally the shrimp pad thai is very very flavorful with very fresh shrimp! The noodles I thought were a little overcooked but it didn't ruin the dish for me. Before leaving we found out that they deliver so yay! They're probably gonna get a call from me soon.

Yowzah! That curry's spicy! Thankfully, it wasn't mine. Just a nibble from Jan L's dish. Good thing humans can't actually breath fire. Instead, I had myself some Pad Ped with chicken (stir fry w/ red curry paste, galanga, onion, bamboo shoot, pepper, basil, chili). I ordered it because I wanted to try some bamboo. I had no idea what it tasted like. I still couldn't tell you what it tastes like, but it's probably pretty tasty, because my entire dish was delicious. I think next time, I'd prefer to order a bunch of dishes to share. The portion was generous, and I ate the whole thing, but I'm not like Joey from friends. I like to share food. Next time? Take out! It's been awhile since I''ve enjoyed a good Thai meal... To be honest, a lot of times I'm just disappointed. Thai Bistro did not disappoint. I was caught downtown with traffic every which way so I decided to have a little dinner before going home. I ordered the Pad Thai and it was good. Other tables ordered curry and it looked soooo good. I would definitely be back to try their curry. Inside is very clean with Thai accents, but not cheesy... nice! Chef is Thai. Service was good. 2nd location on 17th ave and 14th street (by Chianti's and chocolate bar area). Bonus stars for having Thai Iced tea! FTW!! =)

When I walked in, I was both skeptical and kind of in awe at the same time. It felt like I walked into a movie set or a Christmas themed museum or something. There are so many decorations up but it also kind of just works. The first thing I'll bring up is the spice level. The spice levels are pretty similar to the true Thai spice levels. A hot level was giving me a good sweat while medium was just enough to burn the tongue a bit. The food itself was adequately described as authentic and delicious. The papaya salad in particular was very similar to the ones I've tried in Thailand. Great portion size and ratio between papaya and the other vegetables. It was absolutely delicious. The other reason why this restaurant is awesome is the customer service. From when I walked in to when I left, the server and who seemed like the manager or owner made sure everyone there was taken care of and didn't have to wait long for anything. I will definitely come back here when I visit Calgary again!

And our expectations were met, and exceeded! Although it's located in a funny little strip plaza, once you enter this lovely restaurant you immediately know it's different and managed by professionals. We were very politely taken to our reserved table, which they had situated in a private nook. Very nice. For a first course (and appetizer), Linda had a Tom Kha Gai soup, small, which is chicken and mushrooms in coconut milk with herbs and Thai ginger. She didn't want to share with me, but told me how absolutely delicious it was. Full of flavours, nuanced and layered. In a soup! I had the Tom Yum Goong, small, which a Thai creamy style hot and sour soup with prawns and mushrooms. The mild, delicious Enoki mushrooms, sometimes called golden needle mushrooms, were an exciting addition to this wonderful soup. Hands down, this was the best Tom Yum Goong I've tasted since my friend Mai's restaurant in Oakville back in 1997. Dinner for Linda was a Green Curry. Of course! She'll order a green curry anywhere we go, anytime! Served with zucchini, broccoli and green beans, she said it was one of the best she's ever had. Strong layered flavours. For those who love curry (like Linda), she said this is the best anywhere. I had the Chu Chi Basa, which is a basa fillet (lots, actually) drizzled with a rich red curry sauce, and served on a bed of exceptional raw young spinach. This was absolutely delicious. All the distinct flavours were present and identifiable. The fish was delicious, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. I can't say enough good about this dinner and this restaurant. It's a bit out of the way, but easy to find. It deserves to be known by all Calgarians who love authentic Thai food. Presentation: 5/5. The flavor was so tasty and it was the perfect amount of spice. The pad see ew (with tofu) was delicious and very flavorful, but a tad bit too salty. I asked for chili paste (the red one typically served at Thai restaurants), but the waitress brought out a brown chili paste that I didn't end up using. I was surprised to see a 75 cent charge on my bill for this, as I was not informed about that. It was another bummer to know that the entrees/curries are not served with rice and you must purchase side orders of rice (one order serves one person). Finally, soft drink refills are not free. They are gouging every penny at this restaurant! I would not recommend the mango sticky rice. The rice was hard and not soaked in coconut milk, so it was hard and not so much sticky. It was not enjoyable to eat at all. This is in downtown, so parking can be difficult. While visiting Calgary from the USA, I used the website indigoneo.ca to purchase parking online and would recommend it!
