I was hopeful to sell some jewelry, and had been in communication with them prior to arriving. My concerns are not that they were unable to partner with me on the transaction, it was the lack of follow up prior to me driving in to be told no, and further the disrespect I felt while in the store. Yes, I am looking to sell Platinum and (real) Diamond rings, but no, I am not a slum off the streets. I was looked at like I was worthless and a crummy person for selling these pieces. I could have been a returning customer but will not return - to spend any of my Income - at a place that judges a book by its cover without knowing the person they are working with. So I have this bracelet my Grandmother gave me before she passed and my Sister asked to borrow it for a function she was attending out of town. I lent it to her and she came back with a broken finger and my bracelet broken on one side. Oh boy. LOL! My husband had my engagement ring made at Thacker in 2013. He let me know that he was initially shocked by the sticker price on each piece, but he then learned in talking with the ladies on the floor that the actual price of each item is 30-50% off the sticker price. He chose a beautiful setting with amazing details that I absolutely love but that was also affordable for a young college graduate to purchase. I had my ring sized down a few times, trying to get the perfect fit. They let me know to do a little at a time (given we got engaged in the winter) to make sure my ring would seem to fit year-round. A few months later, my husband bought a wedding band with inset diamonds that matched the engagement ring, working with the folks at Thacker to make it a surprise for me! Over the past few years, I would stop by and get my ring cleaned when I was in the area, and it was always quick and easy! I already loved Thacker, but it was made certain when I accidentally damaged my engagement ring and it needed hefty repair to make it wearable again. The shape of the ring was smashed and 4 of the pave diamonds fell out, so I contacted them to see have them fix it - even though I now live in California! I knew someone in CA could fix it, but it was important to me that I got *my* engagement ring back, looking exactly how it did when my now-husband proposed. I mailed off my engagement ring and wedding band (so they could align the inset diamonds) via USPS certified mail (about $25 with insurance) and they got to work. After about a week, they mailed it back to me and it was PERFECT and such a relief to have it on my hand again! I am so thankful for Thacker and their service, and I love their work. I needed repairs for an heirloom necklace that belonged to my mother-in-law. The necklace was fragile due to its age and frequent use. One of the sales persons agreed to do her best. She carefully worked to refit each small wire hook. She said it took several hours which I can easily believe. The cost was $12. read more

My fiancé and I went to Thacker Jewelry to have our wedding rings engraved. The rings were from high-end jewelers but we were unable to ask these jewelers to engrave them because of time constraints. It's just an engraving, so we didn't think it would be a hassle. However, I definitely overestimated Thacker's ability. We almost got ripped off and they were highly unorganized. We walked in asked them about engraving. They said they could do that but everything went downhill. First, we were quoted incorrectly by a young guy at Thacker. I was quoted $50 for engraving over the phone, which is $100 for two rings. Today, he said it would be $150 a ring and $300 for the two rings (Tiffany's would have charged $20). When I mentioned the quote I got over the phone was $50 a ring, he said they can do that for $50. His excuse was that the pricing has changed recently, so he didn't know. (Then, why did he give us $150 to begin with?) I don't know if that was an intentional attempt to rip-off a customer or not, but I was not impressed. Second, the lady who we spoke to obviously was not aware of the whole procedure. After we left the store, she called us and told us to choose between different typefaces; however, obviously that is not something that can be done over the phone. We had to drive back and ask her to show us the examples. Of course, there was no word of apology. Third, because the first lady was too busy with another customer (she did not even greet us warmly - she did a 'wait' gesture and did not say a word after that), a young lady greeted us. She showed us an engraving examples. We wanted to see the engraving examples in two different typefaces, however, only alphabets were in the two examples and not the numerics (for the wedding day). We asked her to provide us with an example of numerics and she said they kind of look similar. This response kind of warned us that they are not very detail-oriented, which we believe is important for a jeweler. Then, we asked her to show us the booklet or printed materials of typefaces, and she could not find it. She informed us that the manager, Amanda, will be there on Monday but probably she would not have known it either. The whole process was stressful, unorganized, and unprofessional. Their lack of organization (quoting customers without knowing the price and missing store binders) made us feel that they could easily lose our rings as well. In short, I would not recommend this place if you don't want to be charged more than what you are supposed to and if you want an organized service. read more

Thacker was recommended by a friend who got her engagement ring here. I trust here and there wasn't much on Yelp yet to really give me a firm hold on where I should go. Thacker just moved to a new location on 82nd close to Iola. It is a gorgeous. I walked in and felt underdressed and in awe of all the shiny. I was immediately greeted with multiple smiles and hellos. I explained that one of my tiny diamonds on my band had managed to escape and wanted to replace the run away. Jerrod was calm and confident and took the ring to the back to see the situation. He came back within 5 minutes to let me know it would only be $16 for the tiny spec of a diamond and $18 for the labor. I was shocked with what a great deal that was! I dropped my ring off on a Thursday and was quoted it being ready in no more than a week. Surprise they called me Early Monday and it was already finished. Here's where it gets really good. I showed up. Again greeted like I was royalty. Jerrod was there. Again. He remembered me, went and got my ring. The whole process cost $2 less than quoted and they fixed another tiny diamond on the band that a precious place had sunken in too far. MY RING LOOKED PERFECT. They fixed something for free and charged me $2 less that planned. I feel so confident in Thacker's customer service and values. They want to make you feel like you and your ring/jewelry are special and a priority and they are very good at it. This is my go to jewelry in Lubbock for life. Excellent Jeweler! We took a ruby ring my husband's father had given to him over 40 years ago and asked them to design a new ring incorporating stones from his mother's wedding band. They did an absolutely fabulous job. The stayed true to the original design and somehow made it look even better.
