Tony arrived with a co-worker, Colton, who was just as friendly and knowledgable. Between the two of them, we really got the feeling that they could take on any job from plumbing and bathroom remodeling to flooring and landscaping. We ended up getting help with our back yard (weeds, mowing, edging, pruning, general clean up), and having a good amount of flooring and some trim pieces installed. Throughout the whole process Tony and Colton were great communicators - funny, friendly guys that told us along the way what they were working on and what they had left to finish. They worked at our house for three days and did excellent work. They seemed to really care about a job well done and took pride in exceeding expectations. We'll definitely be calling again for the next job we have. They were honest, reliable, and did great work. Can't ask for more than that!

His "assistants"…read morecompleted the job, a week later, and I was shocked by the poor quality of work; some of the work was not even completed. I called Tony, and he assured me that he would personally resolve the issue; well, it's been over a year, and he has yet to return any of my numerous calls. I'm beginning to worry, and I have considered filing a missing person report ;-). Tony does great work, as evidenced by the positive reviews; however, he seems to be overwhelmed with projects, and he has hired people that seemingly aren't concerned with doing quality work. Tony seems like a nice guy, and I always try to support small businesses, but, my experience with him has been frustrating, and a waste of time and money :(.

The owner stole $1400 from me! Do NOT trust this company. Also, just found out that he's operating…read morewithout an active license. After reading Marcus S. review, I have had the exact same experience. He was hired to remove rot (which was causing a leak in my downstairs) replace some siding on the upper portion of my house, and fix a gutter. This was around May 1st, and it's been two months, I gave him a deadline, and no response. He not only didn't do the work, he actually made things worse. He actually opened up the wall, exposing the lower portion of my home to even more water damage. He also spilled paint on my deck. The only work done was one of his workers stopped by to put three 6" siding (wood boards) on a wall with 3" siding (and one of the new boards was broken, and fell out). I've done countless remodels over 30 years, and know how much materials cost. He claimed to have purchased about $75 or less of materials, then marked them up to $450. He left, never to be heard from again. Police report is coming next. Then L&I about his license. I was wrong about Kolton Knox. I thought he was going to be a stand up guy. I've never been more wrong about someone. Photo #1 shows a portion of the wall that needed fixing. The black lined boards are original 3" inch. The red lines show the 4", 5", and 6" inch boards that were added. Photo #2 shows the rot, then Photo #3 shows how much was taken away (allowing the rain to pour into the first floor)

Hired Knox Roofing in April 2025 to repair a kitchen drawer. Paid for parts and labor, but the…read moreproject was never completed due to repeated issues: incorrect parts delivered, inconsistent communication, and unclear invoicing (e.g., quote increased without explanation). The original drawer was returned damaged and unusable. Despite multiple requests for updates and a refund, no resolution was provided by late May 2025. Disappointed with the lack of service and follow-through.

This is a tough review to write because I think Zach, owner of Family Man Handyman, is more than…read morecapable of doing beautiful work and he is good with communication. However, my overall experience (including cost) have prevented me from hiring him again or recommending Family Man to others. I contacted this company to install a gliding garbage/recycling drawer behind a lower kitchen cabinet. In our new home, there isn't a pantry or really a good spot to put garbage, and I didn't want it out in the open! In addition, there were smaller jobs/odds and ends I wanted the handy man to look at IF he had time after installing the garbage drawer. In communication with Zach and on his recommendations, I purchased a glider system, appropriate garbage and recycling cans, and specific drawer handle from Home Depot prior to the appointment. Zach sent a fellow employee, Tom, which is where it started going wrong. Even with pictures and videos provided, Tom did not set up what we requested. Instead Tom apparently LEFT the house to go to the hardware store for some period of time to buy a completely separate system without asking me - he had my phone number and had been texting - and installed it without the drawer handle or any of the items I purchased! (Why am I charged time for him to go to the store?) Then, he did some of the smaller items on the list to mediocre results. For example the garage door that was stuck? Still stuck! Etc. I emailed Zach my disappointment and that Tom didn't accomplish what we asked at all. Zach then set up a time to come out himself and basically created my vision perfectly. Pictures included. To this day we LOVE our system - he even made the drawer "soft close". It's exactly what I had in mind. He also adjusted the invoice to fairly reflect 2 hours of Tom's time plus his day in our home. The final issue is the cost. In my mind, a "handy man" shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.. for a sliding garbage can behind a kitchen cabinet, it cost us $500 plus materials. It also irks me that we pay $75 for commute when his business is designed to come TO your home, and we live 15 minutes from Family Man. When Comcast comes out, do they charge you for commute? When we hired roofers from Tacoma, for example - a farther distance - they did not charge us $75 for the time it took to travel to our home. Zach is great at what he does - hence the 3 star review, you could still get exactly what you want - but quite honestly I'm not sure the people he's working with or the cost of services makes Family Man worth it. I wish I would have read a review such as this before spending $500.

Remember when a "handyman" service was the cheaper way to get a small project done? Not if you hire…read morethese guys. I opted not to hire them after I received a $2,100 estimate to replace a single 15"x2.5" floorboard, caulk around a single window, and examine a rattling attic fan. I hired someone else to replace the floorboard for $250. The prices begin to make "sense" when you receive their fee schedule: $75 just to give an estimate (Don't worry though - if you hire them you can put it toward paying one of their many other fees!) $50-$100 "trip fee" per day that they do work $75-$250/hour per employee per hour There's a 25% markup for materials - even if YOU provide the materials! Of course, since they don't provide a line-item breakdown on their estimate, I have no idea how these exorbitant fees even got to $2,100 for what should have been no more than 5-7 hours of work. Please learn from my mistake and don't bother asking this company for an estimate unless you plan to wildly overpay for a project. Update: I added a star because they refunded my $75 ($81 after tax!) without my asking, after I responded to their bid with an email expressing my displeasure.
