This was honestly one of the best experiences I've had with a beauty supply store. I ordered a large quantity of hair color (over 50 bottles total) to be shipped across the country, which normally makes me nervous because leakage is so common. My first order arrived perfectly, which already impressed me. But the second, larger shipment completely exceeded my expectations. Every bottle was carefully packed, separated into smaller boxes so nothing would move, and even individually sealed at the caps. I've never seen that level of attention to detail before. On top of that, Chris went out of his way to help me track down a very specific version of the product I needed, even contacting other stores. He was communicative, honest, and genuinely cared about getting it right. He also included extra items and even additional bottles, which was such a thoughtful surprise. I traveled to Maplewood to shop at this beauty supply store because it has always been my go to. Never again, I asked about the wigs .. I wanted a bob the lady said ok, I said side part... she told me ..too much... I was asking for too much. Wow thank God I didn't tell her the color. No way will I ever spend my money in there again. I thought her job was to help the customer, but she pissed me off. So, I went to JJ's in Union where everyone was more then professional and treated me very kindly. read more

When I lived in Maplewood and in Irvington this was my local beauty supply store. I don't live as close now and I still go here from often cuz I know more than likely i'll find what I need here. I mean they literally have everything! It's also pretty clean, the Asian dude @ the front desk is pretty cool...all these years I haven't had a problem with him. I don't know if she is still there but there is a Black girl there that helps you with weaves and even products...she's pretty awesome...she used to work in a spot in Irvington...she was good there too...then she moved to Min's. They have a large selection of products for natural hair...including Qhemet Biologics (which is a pretty awesome hair care line). The fact that they carry Qhemet sets them above the rest for me. Its never hella crowded in there - so you have room and time to roam around. For a beauty supply store...they can be a bit pricey. Yeah thats about it - its just a pretty reliable beauty supply store. read more

This store has EVERYTHING! Whether you're natural, relaxed, want braids, or wear wigs or weaves, this store has got you covered. They have a vast amount of hair and skin products. I am a naturalista, who occasionally likes to spice things from time to time with hair pieces. Today was my second visit to the store. They have a GREAT selection of hair, body and hygiene products. They selection of black hair care products is borderline overwhelming. From relaxed to natural to wig and weave care, they have just about every product you can think of. They also have a decent wig and track selection and the owners are very knowledgeable. I'm a naturalista so I was looking for Shea Moisture (which they have a great variety) and Mixed Chicks, which I've yet to use. I never frequent beauty supply stores in NJ because of how they purposefully keep Blacks out of the market. Nevertheless, I was desperate for Aphogee and it was the only place I could find it. It's the largest beauty supply store I've been too with the most extensive array of products I have ever seen. The prices are on par with Target (but still more expensive than online) and it's a 10 dollar minimum to use your card. read more
