I used to love this place, but now it seems they are getting money hungry. Not only have they raised their prices (which I understand), but they have cut the size of the food they give you for those raised prices. The salads are now packaged in a side salad size, trying to disguise it as a big salad. If I wanted a side salad, I would've ordered it. It's almost $12 now for a "side salad" with grilled chicken and 2 slices of tomato and a few cucumber slices. Bring back the regular size salad you used to have until recently if you are going to raise the prices. I will not be ordering here anymore. It was convenient and close to my house, but I will drive down the street and go to Chick Fil A and get a bigger, cheaper salad. I will miss this place, but my value is better off elsewhere. read more

Very good food. The burgers are to die for love the flame grilled taste. Owner is very nice and can tell he really cares about the customers he sat down and had a quick chat with us. Great choice of desserts, as well, however, must try the baklava-on point! Besides the food, the other best part about Tex's Star Grill, is George. He is a fully invested owner in his restaurant. I have had good fresh food every time I have eaten here. I'm not happy about my visit today, I think trying to be sneaky and overcharging customers is a poor business practice. I have attached my receipt and if eating here, be sure to check your receipt, I'd be interested to find out how many others are being overcharged too, and are they reporting these over payments on taxes as income? Quick recap, ordered Gyro combo, quoted $9.75, I get to the window, quoted $9.75 again. My receipt shows $8.99 for the meal plus $0.76 in tax, no other charges on it which should equal $9.75. I have not received any bad food here or any bad customer service. No matter what time of the day I go they are busy. No big long lines, but a steady flow of customers. The cashier is always friendly and offers suggestions. The manager greeted me from the dinning area and thanked me for coming in and choosing their Resturant today. They do not have table service, order at a counter and pay. Come back for your food when your number is called. AND the management still has time to greet you and thank you for coming in. Nice! So I decided to be a good boy, but on the REAL grill, a grate and not a flat one, they tossed on a burger! Okay, so the Greek chicken salad idea I had was tossed. I had the Greek gyro salad instead. :). The baklava was sooooo enticing. The gyro salad was the best I've EVER had. I lived in Turkey and have had lots of gyro type salads, but this was perfect! The steak was high-quality, tender & thickly cut. The pita was thick and terrific, the vegetables fresh & crisp. And the sandwich was less than $6! I am moderately/adequately full without any side dishes. They have a chicken option as well as burgers, Greek Salad and lots of other options. I love Greek/Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean food but rarely have enough time between calls in mid-day to get any. This is a real find. When I am nearby I will definitely check in here. Stopped in again about a month or so ago for the Italian beef sandwich to go ( I am from the Chicago area ) Got home, started to eat it and thought what is this ? Not at all what I was used to from tour place. Way to spicy. I did notice a sign on the wall when I was waiting for my order that read "Vienna " Italian beef now served. Bad idea. It's a little pricey but then where isnt? They're Philly cheese steak sandwiches are the best I've had and I suggest getting a side of cucumber sauce to dip your sandwich in. It totally makes the sandwich perfect. I've eaten here probably 40-50 times. Check hours before you go because I think they're closed on Monday. The only thing I can say to management is if there's a girl who takes phone orders who does not do it well. LOL it took like 6 minutes for her to take my order and she kept having me repeat everything or she'd get it wrong when she recited it back. I think for two our bill came out to 40 bucks? The meat on my Philly cheesesteak and somehow the onion rings were incredibly dry. I paid for a large meal and the sandwich was smaller than my girlfriends who got a regular size. The onion rings are SO good and fries are seasoned very well. We *love* Tex's Star. We eat there at least once a week. The owner, George, is almost always there to greet us with a smile. The hamburgers are great. The Reubens are better. The Golden Turkey is good for a change of pace. And when I'm feeling guilty, the chef salad is fantastic (and probably not really that good for my diet *wink*).
