The new owners of Tex's Cafe have restored the food quality and service to a new level. The old Tex's was good but the new menu is smaller but the quality and homemade taste make it a great experience. The interior is still the old 60's diner feel. read more

Been a while since we here. Testing different of the specials. House made cinnamon roll coming first. Not my preferred build of brown sugar/butter, but she made these herself and will be very good anyway. Yes are sure good. And same for our main breakfast choices. We like. This would be one of a few long time downtown restaurant that have survived over years of change and still a favorite of many. read more

Great food at a great price. Good service too. Why do I need 85 characters for a review

Very good sausage and egg breakfast, at a very reasonable price. Friendly and attentive service really added to our experience there. I don't understand the one review where the person is saying it's expensive it certainly isn't. I might've given this a four star, I'm going to bump it up to five because of that other preview, that was totally wrong. Plenty of breakfast choices in the 6 to 8 dollar range, in my opinion that's very inexpensive. read more

Normally we enjoy eating here. The experience has gone downhill. There was a mistake on the order, which got corrected, but the food came back out cold and was rather gross. Had to ask for basics like a straw, ketchup/mustard. The owner, who could have been helping the lone waitress get orders corrected and delivered to tables (ours was not the only one wrong), sat doing nothing. Not to mention, it was absolutely FREEZING in the restaurant like the heat wasn't even on. It will be awhile before we risk eating here again, if ever. read more

I've eaten at Tex's several times over the years, and my parents loved it when they lived in the area (my dad was a born-and-bred Nebraska farmer). I really appreciate that it's a small local eatery, and it's the real deal with no put-ons. The food is just OK (not the greatest sausage gravy), the service might be a bit absent-minded (had to ask twice for a coffee cup after the carafe arrived), and your glassware probably won't match, but if you care about that sort of thing, then it's not for you. We ate there only once this trip to see if there was better fare. However, if you are visiting from out-of-town you should definitely check it out to get a real feel for where you are. read more

Food was ok but prices were insane for a small town diner. Lunch for two adults and a kid (who had a $3.50 burger) came to $32 before tip! Charged my husband $2 for a cup of sausage gravy. He asked for a little gravy for his chicken fried steak sandwich. But the kicker was the $2 charge for the tablespoon of thousand island that was supposed to come on my Reuben sandwich. I merely asked for it on the side. When we asked for the check, the waitress asked if it was all together!!! Apparently she didn't recognize a traditional American family. read more

A nice mom and pop cafe. Stopped in for breakfast with some friends. Good portions, well prepared. Service was good. Its standard breakfast fare, but when its done well, its all you need. Will return. read more

This is a really great place......if you like really small diners, with a one page menu.

I've heard a lot of rant and rave about this place and I finally gave in. To my dismay it didn't live up to the hype. The waiter recommended the hot beef sandwich. As we wait I hear the familiar sound of a microwave beeping. "Order UP", I hear. My dish arrives. The gravy is lumpy and reminds me of warmed up Thanksgiving leftovers. Beef was dry as a bone. Bye Tex's Cafe hello Breakfast Cart!!! I can't believe Tex's Cafe!! My girlfriend and I went there to get breakfast and we walked in and they told us we're no longer able to go there!! We can't go there anymore because last time we went there our cards didn't go through so we paid cash and because the owner didn't want to try to run our cards and said loud that she won't try to run our cards when I showed her we have the money... She said well you need to get some money and pay really loud in front of a diner full of people.. So my girlfriend Shannon Carter was sitting down across the diner came over and told to find out the owner that she was rude for saying that so loud in front of people... She said the owner I'm sorry but I wasn't saying it loud... We said yea you were and that was rude... We paid our bill and left... Come to find out because the owner doesn't like us for that she has "excluded" us from being able to dine there because she was rude and didn't like being called out!! I've been in customer service for years and never been told I can't eat somewhere for this situation and her employee that told us today that we can't eat there is just as guilty for not backing up the reason why they make money... The customer or guest... Treated like second class citizens!! I'll never eat there again and everyone I know which is alot of people I'll tell them they shouldn't eat there and contribute to such a horrible owner!! read more
