My prescription is fairly complicated and has been difficult to get right the first time, as I have double vision. I was prepared to be disappointed when I picked up my glasses, but they were perfect. I haven't seen this well in a long time! read more

Let's talk about poor and deceptive practices. I got an eye exam for script safety lenses in Dec '24. I was told I would have 2 lense replacements over the course of 2 years. Fast forward to this week. (Less than 2 years BTW) I come in to exercise the replacement of my lenses and was told that it would not be honored and I would need to pay $285 again including an eye exam to have lenses put in again. After speaking to the manager he said "that these things change all the time and we don't have control over it" when asked to make things right and honor what was offered, it was refused. Don't give business to companies like this. Find an honest business that will make things right when wrong has happened. read more

I had an excellent experience at Texas Vision Clinic yesterday. Dr. Matthew Schukar was extremely pleasant and profession as was all of the support staff. Shout out to Alondra (hope I spelled her name correctly) and everyone else that I saw. read more

We have been coming here for the last couple of years, our family will continue to come here. Staff are friendly and always helpful

My wife took my son in for an exam. The "doctor"completely ignored her and only spoke to my 12 year old autistic son. He rudely spoke over her and didn't acknowledge she even spoke. If you know anything about autism they have a hard time speaking to strangers or at all sometimes. I would give less than 1 star if I could. read more

Stay Away! Dr. Matthew Schukar and Texas Vision Clinic refused to schedule me a follow up appointment for a test he ordered. The reason for the resfusal: I had a balance from a bill that I had not yet received or reconciled with my insurance explanation of benefits. I told them I would bring the payment to the appointment and they still refused to make the appointment. I want to be clear that I am not a stranger to this office. I am an established patient who has spent thousands of dollars between eye exams, tests, prescription glasses, and prescription sunglasses. In addition, I have paid every single bill on time and in full. Clearly, eye health is not a priority for Dr. Schukar. His only priority is profits. The people of this area deserve better. read more

The staff is the Rudest ! Many times I have had dealings with them and have ignored the unprofessionalism.! Even to the extent that the office manager argues loudly with the customer! the Dr is wonderful and professional.. and I cannot believe he lets this happen... it's too bad.. it seems this is happening a lot by the other reviews! I received eyeglasses I could not see out of.! At the cost of 688$! I took them in .. spoke to Neal the manager.he said I could not see because of cataracts! Why was I not told this before purchasing! I currently see fine with my Contact lenses! Again the staff will not allow me to speak to the Dr. on this issue.. I will go forward to the Highest level read more

Been there 4 times in as many years. Have never left feeling good about it. Twice the staff have unwittingly induced me to have a panic attack. Today was the last time. I am GOING BLIND and they kept demanding I fill out paperwork. Clinic Mgr gives me the worst danger vibes I have ever experienced. I would rather go blind than walk in there again and feel that serial killer vibe nearby. read more

My favorite people! If you feel deterred by any other reviews, please let this one change your mind: everyone wants to help to the best of their ability. Many people just don't listen to the diagnosis given at the time of appointment and complain about their glasses when what they really need is something else to help with their vision. Ask Monica, Neil, or Kim for any help and I promise you they will give it to you! They're very honest and want to help as much as they can! I will never go to any other clinic and trust Dr. Spinuzza and the rest of the staff with any care my family or I need! :) Also, see Amber for a good boost in moral if you need it when picking out your new eyewear! She has the friendliest and kindest energy ;) read more

First set of lenses had the reader area about an 1/16 inch or so from the very bottom edge of the lens, and when I tried to read there was two focal points with a blurry spot between them. Second set of lenses were good, but Amber scratched them while putting them in the frames. She told me she would order a new set. After not hearing anything from them for 4 weeks or better, I stopped in to find out she never ordered my lenses. At that point, I had tried to get used to the blurry peripheral vision that came with their progressives for over six week and couldn't. So I ask for bifocals instead. Both Amber and the manager specifically told me that the focal point for the readers would be 14 to 16 inches. When the lenses came in the focal point for the readers was just barley 12 inches..... and we measured it! And the bifocal lines were not in a straight line across the glasses, they were in a slight V shape. So they wanted me to see the doctor again to make sure my vision had not changed. My vision had not changed, but the DR did adjust the readers to insure the focal point would be a comfortable reading distance from my face. When the fourth set of lenses came in, the bifocal line was exactly in the center of my pupil!!! At this point I asked for my money back, and the manager came out and told me "NO". After further discussion, he agreed to do a refund, but informed me that if he did, I would never be allowed to buy glasses there again..... HAHA! I guess he didn't understand that I hired them to do a job for me, and when I asked for my money back because of the terrible job they did, that was me firing them! So yes, when you get fired, it means you don't come back to work anymore. DUH! NOT RECOMMENDED!! read more

So much for customer service - especially as a first-time patient. Receptionist was so rude! I didn't even have an exam - didn't get past the front desk and I walked out. LOL and she tried to charge me to re-schedule. read more

I've never written a review for a restaurant or doctor or anything like that before, but wanted to leave one to say that everyone at Texas Vision Clinic is fantastic. From the team of receptionists who went above and beyond to help me sort out issues with my insurance, to the doctor who gave me a quick eye pressure test for free because the results were simple and easy, to the lady who recommended I use my insurance co-pay on glasses rather that contacts so that I could save a buck. I wish I remembered the names of all the people that helped me out, but I can assure you that if there are that many great people working there then the rest of the team will be great as well. Seriously, look no further for an eye doctor, you're in good hands here. read more

I've been going there for years and the staff and doctors are great. It's too expensive to buy glasses there so I get them somewhere else.

BEWARE!! If you have vision insurance and they ask for a copy of your medical insurance card as well - don't give it to them! They are fraudulently billing your medical insurance carrier to get more money by stating that they diagnosed you with some medical condition like glaucoma or cataracts. They just fail to tell you about the diagnosis and treatment plan! Clearly, they are money driven and figured out how to scam the insurance companies. The staff is rude, and Neil is downright nasty with the customers! And don't piss him off or you will get an incomplete copy of your vision prescription in retaliation. Horrible place - would not recommend to my worst enemy! read more

Don't you dare be late or you won't be seen for another month (literally!). Made our appointments about a month ago and on the phone confirmed with them that the appointment was for 9:15-9-30 time frame, got a text the morning of that said my appointment was 15 min prior with no prior warning than a text the day of. We called the front desk to apologize and were met with incredibly rude front staff who told us "if you're not here in 15 min then you'll have to cancel your appointment" even though we had no prior notice the appointment was scheduled earlier. No call to confirm the appointment, nothing. My problem isn't that there was a mistake made because those happen and it's frustrating but the earth will keep spinning, it's the lack of basic telephone skills and empathy from the front office staff. I would honestly rather just let my eyes deteriorate or go blind than come back here. Thank god there's other options in town, maybe one day I'll be able to see again! read more

This business has gone downhill since Dr. Shukar bought it. From the office manager Neil, who is hyper aggressive with no conflict resolution skills and always seems to be two seconds away from getting into a physical altercation with customers to his severely incompetent staff's ineptitude when it comes to various insurance nuances and coverage and their first instinct to put the blame on their customers it's a wonder how anything or anyone actually gets the customer service experience one deserves. We have been patients there since 2007 and will never go back after my most recent interaction with Neil. It is the job of the billing department to know how to bill and when they give you a direct quote it should be honored. At no point is it appropriate to blame the customer for your staffs mistakes. It says a lot when a practice loses an entire family. read more

Bunny L 1/15/21 & Zack O (recent reviewers) could not be more correct on the experiences with the STAFF at TVC. I want to give both doctors (Matthew Schukar, O.D. and James Spinuzza, O.D.) highest 5 stars for the exams, patient care and mannerism, BUT - I specifically told Dr. Schukar at my last visit which was an eye emergency/follow up from a previous visit in Dec., about the repeated abuse by his office staff and his own patient coordinator Allysa Sultemeier. Dr. Schukar shared with me and my husband that they were working through some staff issues. He stated that my concern would be addressed, but not 2 wks later I had the displeasure of being mistreated yet again by Allysa. My first visit in Dec. was for my yearly eye exam. I have had Dr. Schukar for 3 yrs and though the customer service at the front has always been eh, I had hopes that the coordinator would be ok. When I was called by Allysa for my turn she brought me into the pre-testing room with not so much as a Hi, or boo and when she instructed me to remove my contacts for testing and I had to find my own way back to the room I was unsure on which room it was and she was really put out by my stupidity. I have no problem communicating to someone if I feel I am being mistreated so I stated that I was looking for the room where my purse was left unattended. She did not respond with an acknowledgment, for example, "no worry, I'll get your purse", nothing. Then we moved to the exam room and when I sat on the chair and she was at the computer ( where my records and data are) she starting asking me my info and what contacts I have, etc. Since I was already uncomfortable and she was extremely rude and cold, I asked her if she was in a bad mood. She just stared at me and said no. I further stated, "Well, I feel like you are mad at something and taking it out on me." To her credit, she corrected right on the spot (no apology) and I did share that with Dr. Schukar at my 2nd visit in Dec. On that 1st visit I had the EXTREME pleasure to meet Dr. Spinuzza. He was very personable and provided medical information and advice I felt was so helpful. LOVED him and looked forward to a new great doc. I did not want to taint that visit with my complaint and I gave Alysa the benefit of the doubt. He was so great and walked me to the check out window and then left. The check-out window had a plexiglass hanging and when I put my small purse on the writing ledge the bottom of the plexiglass was not secured and it pushed some items on the ledge. The lady on the other side expressed an audible gasp and when I said sorry, she said, " It does that." I feel if that annoys you why not fix it? Instead, it's the patient's fault? The next week one of the new contacts got lodged in my eye and I called ahead to say I needed to come in for help. Whoever answered the phone hearing my distress, the very first response was, " date of birth?" in a very business manner (aka cold). My husband then took me to the office and when I arrived there were only 2 ladies at the front. One was Marie (I think was her name) dark hair and very efficient and customer-oriented. She rushed us right into the exam room and got my info up for Dr. Schukar. I then told him about all my previous experiences over 3 yrs and recently. He prescribed another brand of contacts but one was not in stock. Marie was on it and called me the same day to give me lead time. They might consider having her train the others. I got a msg. from the office a couple of weeks later with no information just to call. When I called I was told the contacts were still on backorder and I asked why not leave that on the VM so I would not have to stop work to call unnecessarily. She was extremely rude and I asked for follow up in an email and a copy of my prescription. I was told when she gets to it. I will admit I lost my cool and I cursed at her. When I got the email it was from Allysa and she did provide the prescription I needed to order glasses. These are basic office skills and common sense. I urge the doctors to hire staff that is considerate that they are dealing with PATIENTS, people who are coming for actual health CARE. Technical knowledge can be taught, but you can not teach people to care or common basic office skills. I give up. read more

Totally love the great care my husband and i received during our eye exams. Dr. James Spinuzza is terrific and detailed and spent quality time explaining our particular issues. The ladies at the front desk however are lacking in their customer service skills. I had my eyes dilated and when I was checking out Dr. Spinuzza walked me to the front desk and asked the gal at the desk to give me one of the dark throw away covers for my eyes. That woman was so rude that she waited until I paid my $10 co-pay before giving me the eye cover. Her mannerism was hostile from the word go as if I were inconveniencing her in some way when in fact she should be glad to be employed. The other women sitting around her were about as useful as two cent stamps. Then there was the gal who was attempting to help my husband with a customized pair of glasses. She had no clue what she was talking about and was incredibly rude in her remarks about a co-worker who clearly knew the ins and outs of how to sell glasses. We chose to wait for her to help us instead and dismissed the clueless gal. Barring nay optical catastrophes in the near future, I am thankful that we won't have to visit the clinic for at least another year. But I totally recommend Dr. Spinuzza and Dr. Schukar for all eye exams. read more

Called 1/30/23 to schedule an appt, they said they had one SAME DAY at 2:45pm. I took it & moved a business meeting to accommodate. Received a text from their automated system that my appt was set for 2/8/23 @ 2:45pm. I called them immediately & discussed the issue, she said "oh I'm sorry I looked at wrong day I only have a 1:45pm today". So, again I took it and moved my business meeting YET AGAIN! I arrive at 1:40pm for my appt & all of a sudden they say "we were unable to identify you have the same insurance". Obviously, I was confused. My policy changes in Aug, and I had just seen them in Oct with no issue. Someone else stepped in and called to verify (all the while ignoring me & my questions)...and found out the company's system was down...that in fact I DO HAVE INSURANCE (after she announced my policy # to the entire office & my DOB. At that time I sit down and wait patiently...2:15pm comes around & I finally ask if I got bumped due to the insurance issue...and the lady advised my appt wasn't until 2:45pm today. I was obviously LIVID! This is the 3rd go round about the time of my appt. After 5 mins the Office Manager comes out & says "mistakes happen". I ran thru my entire day of run around with his scheduling team and asked how 3 mistakes could happen all within a few hours. That isn't a mistake...that is NOT CARING about inconveniencing their patients! He advised he might could get me into the doctor but couldn't guarantee I'd be out by 3pm to make my business meeting. I advised then you need to get me rescheduled. He rescheduled me for the next day at 8:45am...and 1 hour after leaving their office...they called to RESCHEDULE my appt because their office wasn't opening until later in the day that day! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS DOCTORS OFFICE. They have permanently lost my business!!!!!!!!!!!!! Note Sherry E.'s Review - they are 100% unapologetically overbooked at all times!!!!!!!! read more

Today I called to make a new patient appointment for my daughter. My ex husband carries the insurance policy for her and agreed to call after I made her appt to give his insurance info. The lady answering the phone told me she couldn't make an appt without insurance information because most people don't call back with the info ahead of time. First of all, I am in the dental field and understand how insurance works and the importance of having it in advance. Why assume I'm an idiot? I told her i needed to make the appt and if I didn't call back with the insurance, I'd pay out of pocket. She very rudely and shortly asked "What's her name?" I told her she's the rudest person I've ever dealt with and that I wanted nothing to do with that office. If this is the attitude given to new patients, I can't imagine how they treat established patients. read more
