I've been coming to this practice for over a decade, and I wanted to update my review now that I see Dr. Yaseen Waqar. He is absolutely wonderful thorough, attentive, and genuinely takes the time to listen and explain everything clearly. I always feel heard and well cared for. The staff is equally outstanding: kind, personable, and incredibly helpful. The office itself is always clean and welcoming, which adds to the overall positive experience. This place also holds a special place in my heart. I used to bring my father here before he passed away from Alzheimer's last year. The compassion they showed him meant the world to me. I'll never forget the day we left an appointment and he turned to me and said, "I like them. They don't make me feel like a dummy." That moment still gets me. Very friendly atmosphere. Angelica and another staff member (I wish I got her name) helped me decide between frames I couldn't decide on. Turns out I'm going to get both anyways because they are so gorgeous! Angelica even went above and beyond and noticed my glasses were loose and she tightened them for me. My husband and I came today for our 2 year vision checkup. My vision has been a little off and I knew I probably needed a new prescription. The ladies at the front desk were, kind, friendly and took care of us immediately. My appointment was at 2:20 and I was back in the initial testing room as soon as my paperwork was turned in. The Tech (my apologies for not asking her name so I could include it in the review) that took care of me was informative, professional and gentle as she did my tests. I saw Dr Waqar for the exam portion and he explained all my tests in detail and in a way I understood completely. Macular Degeneration runs in my family and he assured me my eye is healthy and showing no signs at this point. My blurry vision is age related as well and he will see me again if it gets worse in 6 months or no later than a year. All this to say, Dr. Waqar is knowledgeable, professional and on his game. I felt very confident in his taking care of me. My husband was very pleased as well, and Dr. Waqar helped him diagnose an issue with his eyes and sent him home with a a new remedy to try, with a follow-up in a month. I cannot recommend Texas State Optical and especially Dr. Yaseen Waqar enough. We have been in previously multiple times for check up and Dr. Waqar is prompt, professional and very kind. Our son had a sport injury below his eye and he did a very thorough exam explaining everything he was doing and putting our nervous son at ease. Today our son got a scratch at school and TSO was able to get us in right away and with Dr. Waqar. Once again he did a full exam and prescribed antibiotics and drops for pain. We are so thankful we went straight to TSO instead of wasting time at an Urgent Care. Highly recommend Dr. Waqar and all of his staff. read more

I came in to have my glasses adjusted because I lost weight and they were falling off. I was not asked how old they were nor was I given any warning they could break. A few minutes later he comes out to let me know the glasses broke. He went straight to offer me a discount so I can pay for the same frame he broke or use my insurance and the replacement glasses would be free. Then he tried to blame it on me because the glasses were 3 years old. Looks like I'll be searching for a different place to get my eyes checked and get my frames. read more

I'm a 63-year-old woman. I went to Texas State Optical for an eye exam and new glasses. I went back after 3 weeks my glasses were not ready. Here it is 5 Weeks later and they are still not ready. I thought by going to a reputable Optical doctor that I would get top notch service. In my 63 years I've had one incident that postponed the delivery of my glasses. This is ridiculous and unforgivable. I've had better service from Walmart. How lame is that I have paid out over $500 for new glasses. This is the most retarded service I have ever gotten. Not impressed at all with this place. Staff seem friendly but that is where it all stops. The doctor giving my eye exam kept yawning, very loudly, throughout exam. He kept making grunting and tutting noises if I didn't answer the "which is clearer 1 or 2." Fast enough. I paid for extra test and still don't know the results. This was my first time coming here and it will be my last. I was planning on buying glasses, as well as my contacts, that day but I just wanted to leave right away. I had my follow up visit with Dr. Wukar at TSO in Kyle this afternoon & my dry eye has improved from autologous serum eye drops he prescribed. He has given me hope after 10 years of dry eye. If you suffer from dry eye & keep trying different over the counter & even some prescription drops, don't give up. read more

I wandered in because I desperately needed new lenses soon, but I needed to check up on my insurance and get some prices... which all the beautiful ladies in the front gladly helped me out with! Made an appointment for next week... Dr. Warren is great. He's kind and now I can see again! Haha. Excellent. Friendly front desk/office staff and Dr. Dolbee was very personable. We talked about my reasoning for coming in(need contacts because I'm getting married this weekend and then heading to my Honeymoon) and he was nice enough to offer some dining options on Maui, where we are heading. They repaired two different pair of eyeglasses for my 92 year old dad, who had gotten them at the VA. I'm talking replacing missing arms for glasses they hadn't even sold me. Very poor customer service. The glasses I bought from them were deformed, and when I tried to get replacements, was told that it would take a week. Okay. Then, when I get a call to come in, they tell me that they are unable to cut glasses because of some lunch schedule, and I have to come back later in the day. My visit was just ok. What I didn't like was that I was told my 1st appointment was with a different doctor, but when I showed up they switched doctors. I don't like that and I wasn't told anything. Also, when I went to pick up my contacts, the front desk girl didn't want to give me any sample contact solution. I have been wearing contacts for 18yrs and I have always been given solution with contacts since they are given free to them to give out to customers to try. That's being cheap and stingy. Excellent! Would give more stars if I could! I scheduled my annual contact lens exam with Dr. Dolbee. The clerical staff that greeted me were very friendly. Dr. Dolbee was very friendly and pleasant. I explained that I really like the Dailies and prefer them but the cost was too much. He set me up with a rebate to get half off my Dailies contacts--a savings of $200!!! He gave me contacts to last until my order came in--this is something my previous eye doctor would not do. My contacts arrived in less than 2 days! I also really appreciate that staff and Dr. Dolbee did not try to push extra tests and costly products on me. I felt that they really care about their patients and not just money. read more

A lesson in customer service is greatly needed at this TSO location. Except for one friendly person at the counter, the others are rude and dress in very unprofessional manner. I did not want to make the drive to South Austin to go to the TSO where I originally purchased my contacts and had my original eye exam so I scheduled an appointment with the TSO in Kyle big mistake I should have just drove to South Austin. I walked in waited then a guy holding a clipboard came to call me in to get seen after not introducing himself as the Dr I realized I guess this is the Dr (rude) So He then starts his examination and does not keep me informed of what he is doing or thinking about my eye which was hurting and red. Finally says it's an eye infection wow he's a genius I could have figured that out. I tried to ask questions and he was very short and seemed very impatient oh well now I know to tell all the people I know to stay away from this place. The Warrens seemed like a nice professional couple. Ms Warren said to me your eye is lop sided! Wow, really? This was my second visit. I made an apmt for my daughter to get examined for contacts. I iaccidentally locked myself out of the house that Saturday morning. I called to let them know I would be 10 mins. Late, the office manager at the time was rude and said that there were other people with apmts. I was like I am 5 mins away she said no! I hope the Warrens took their staff with them! read more

We have used this office for about two years now. The office staff and Dr. Dolbee are very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Dolbee spent extra time with my daughter to ensure he got her slightly unusual prescription right. Great for adults and kids/teens. The offices are very clean. I have been going to TSO for quite some time and have always had good service. My complaint is that after all these years, I was not informed that they were no longer an in network provider with my insurance. I was allowed to go through the whole exam, pick out glasses, order and pay for everything and this was not disclosed. I thought the final total was high but since I did not have my benefits handy, I went ahead and paid for everything. I even asked the sales person if all of my benefits had been applied and she assured me that they had applied all that they could. When I checked my benefits later that day, all that I thought should have been covered was not. I called the next day to question it and that is when I was told that TSO no longer was an in network provider. I simply told the person on the phone that this information would have been beneficial BEFORE starting my exam. read more
