Soooo good, almost made up for the rest of my disappointment.
Clarissa H.

This location is so disappointing. I've been to other locations and with no complaints. Everytime I've given this one another chance to do better, it's the same story. I order my steak medium rare with sautéed mushrooms. It always comes done. To add insult to injury, this time, my mushrooms were burnt. I for sure got what I paid for. Garbage steak every single time at this location. The stars I gave is only because the servers are amazing, the bread and butter are to die for and so are the drinks.

Ashley - ask for her.
Roger S.

Place was packed to the hilt, 40 minutes wait, no reservations. Noisy as all get out. Cudues to Ashley. After a rocky start, no Korbel brandy, no Guinnes Beer, poor food at restaurant in Wausau WI. ASHLEY assured me she would make sure I was happy. I ordered a sirloin steak, chared rare. No hockey puck. My guests ordered, ribs, shrimp, steak. Without a doubt, I got THE BEST CHARED RARE SIRLOIN I EVER HAD. My guests all raved too. I gave Ashley a 30% tip, and felt cheap.

This was so good there burgers are so good ai did not finish mine and i like there service

Texas buns with cinnamon butter very good!
Aaron S.

I agree with Kim B. I love the chilly, everyone loves the cinnamon butter bread. My kid gets so full off of an appetizer and bread that he never gets to eat his kids burgers. My bone in ribeye is always so perfect it's unreal!! Service is always good there. I like the people. I love it when they do line dancing drone time to time. The restaurant itself is not too special. It gets the job done, and it's just what we need. I wouldn't go there if I was expecting fine dining, or expecting to be classy.

Slow service. Missed items, poor tasting food. It's like Texas roadhouse attempted to up Applebee's on low service and high prices.

Texas Roadhouse is consistently good state to state. Nothing stood out for me. Server was accommodating.

Living in Kansas City I am a certified BBQ lover. Am I an expert? That's a laughable title for…read moresomeone that doesn't own a smoker or a restaurant, but I do enjoy comparing. With 120+ BBQ restaurant reviews under my belt, I feel that I've got a good handle on what differentiates a BBQ joint from good, to excellent to world class. If John Hardy's was located in KC, it would be in the middle of the pack, but for being in a small market town like Rochester, I'm gonna give them a solid 4 stars with a few stand-out items on the menu. My wife had the small brisket plate with fries and black eyed peas - $14. I had the 2 meat combo with beef, ribs, sweet potato tots and slaw- $15. Garlic bread was also provided. Meats: Ribs were smokey and tender. Beef was thin sliced eye of round, tender and worked well to sample the sauces. Brisket was an extremely thick cut although the menu says thin - it was more of a prime rib slice than what I consider brisket. I thought it was wonderful, although my wife thought it was to fatty. I would have no issue re-ordering any of the three, although I would like to try the sausage. Sides: Black eyed peas are not found on many BBQ menus but were straight from a can or at least had no added ingredients to make them unique - blah. Coleslaw - creamy and nice, but nothing that a 100 other places haven't done before. Fries - crispy, plentiful and perfect. Sweet Potato tots - where have you been all my life? The best damn deep fried potato side option I've ever had. Garlic toast - again a side that I don't often see in a BBQ joint but the warm bread liberally coated with hot garlic butter was the best bread option i've ever had - I ate all 4 slices, making small sandwiches or for sauce dipping. Sauces: Mild and medium were almost interchangeable in taste. The Sissy Boy sauce was a robust sweet sauce that reminded me of some of my favorite sweet sauces back home. Sissy Boy? Really? Overall it was a very filling lunch that was priced right with a solid meat selection and some stand out sides. This Kansas City boy was reminded of one my long standing sentimental favorites back home - Rosedale BBQ. John Hardy's is similar in that it's been around for decades and provides what I call "blue collar BBQ" Nothing is best in class, but a quality product at a good value that stands the test of time. Hell; I even bought a T-shirt for $12! That should get the local joints asking questions when I sport a Minnesota BBQ logo here in the world capital of Burnt Ends and Cheesy Corn.

1st visit this past weekend for family lunch - we had a total of 11 people in our group (7 adults,…read more4 kids). It was a super hot day and it was a little warm In the restaurant. The servers were very nice and friendly. The food was decent - ribs, wings & turkey were good, the other meats we tried were ok. The garlic bread was soggy (would have been much better if it was toasted slightly). My two little guys got kid's meals and liked them.

In town shopping for a new car and this place was recommended by the salesperson. My wife said,…read more"It's pretty day, I wish we could find someplace we could sit outside and eat" She has this fantasy that she lives in Florida where you can eat outside all the time. She was ecstatic to notice this place has outdoor dining. Happy wife - happy life! So yes we ate there(here). Service was prompt and attentive. Very helpful waiter. She wanted the broasted chicken. I said what the heck? Who goes to a BBQ place and doesn't order BBQ. Let's leave! Well, perhaps i said it more politely than that. I'm no fool. But we both decided to eat BBQ Pork sandwiches. They came with fries and a bit of coleslaw for you Carolina people who love to pollute your pure BBQ flavor. Okay yeah... I put it on my sandwich too but that don't make it right. There were sauces on the table to use. Wife says the "hot" one... is really hot! Me? I stayed with original and sweet. The sandwiches were excellent. The fries weren't your average fries you get at a fast food joint. They were seasoned well and were perfect with the pork sandwich. As a side note we wanted the ribs but it was lunch time and we didn't want to spend a ton of money on ribs. We wanted to eat light. Lucky for us, it was 1:45 and at 2:00pm Happy Hour started and we could order individual single ribs. Yes, they made us wait. We finished our sandwiches and ordered at 2:01pm. By 2:15 my stomach told me i was full and I no longer wanted ribs.... but... we ordered them so they showed up a minute or so later..... and even though I was full.... man these ribs were amazing. We only got three of them and gosh, you could taste the smoke on them....They weren't fall off the bone tender which some people like but me? I prefer tender but enough to stay on the bone so i can gnaw them off with my teeth.... they were really good. I'll go back again... after 2;00PM..... and order some ribs as an appetizer to eat while i wait on my Broasted Chicken.

Exceptional from start to finish!…read more My husband and I had an absolutely incredible experience at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Rochester. Everything was exceptional--the service, the ambiance, the beautiful patio, and, of course, the food. The food was truly out of this world! We enjoyed it so much that we came back a second night--and were thrilled to have the same server, Corey! A special shout-out to Corey for being so welcoming, professional, accommodating, and genuinely such a pleasure. Corey made us feel so comfortable and taken care of, and we truly appreciated the wonderful service. We also want to recognize Xavi, the General Manager, who couldn't have been kinder. It was clear that he genuinely wanted us to have a beautiful experience, and that personal touch meant so much to us. Thank you, Ruth's Chris, Corey, and Xavi, for making our time in Rochester so special. We will absolutely be back!
