So my kid took me out for dinner April 26 for my birthday. I had a free coupon for a blooming onion or onion blossom. Whatever they call it. It was literally floating in grease in the bowl and not cooked. He specifically asked for his salmon to be well done. I know it's weird, but we're weird. We like our food cooked all the way through and not like that white milky stuff in the salmon, especially when you emphasize that you want it well done so it gets this food. Of course the salmon isn't cooked well done and it's got the white stuff in it instead of her saying we'll make you another one. She and a very classless manner says put it on the bread plate and she took it back to the kitchen and brought it back 15 minutes later cooked no apologies no nothing just here's your piece of fish for $25 thrown back on the grill. I have celebrated every holiday there for probably 20 years with my kids for my birthday to their birthdays to special occasions, and the food definitely has gone downhill like a lot of places I had roadkill, because I like plain food and that piece of meat was so over seasoned and salty. I couldn't even eat it. I literally fed it to my dogs the server was OK. She got a really good tip from us regardless didn't offer us rolls to go didn't offer us more rolls or refills. It was just kind of crappy he's a young kid. He's 22 years old and he works hard for his money. I felt bad and I made him take some money for me. I just don't like going there anymore. What used to be really good NY Strip Steak isn't anymore. They are not trimming it well at all, way too much fat and more gristle than I've ever seen in even moderate quality strip steaks. Hopefully their Filet is still of a decent quality, but there are much better steaks elsewhere. PHENOMENAL experience!! my first time ever and the food was beyond good. I'm a PICKY foodie especially with steak and I was in complete awe. The ribs truly are fall off the bone the bread and fried pickles are ADDICTING. the service and environment is incredible. I was given a goody bag for it being my first time and my server Jocelyn was very proactive in refilling drinks, dips, anything we needed and gave us FRESH rolls to go. Always before my Saturday assignment, I go to the Champaign TXRH to relax and have a pregame meal before the hockey mayhem begins. It's sorta like the calm before the storm effect. My bartender/server Ariel was most friendly + gracious. She took my order, kept my glass filled and made my dining experience most relaxing. I met this nice dad Brady and his daughter who were later in attendance at the hockey game. Everyone is so friendly there. We ordered for curbside pick up, when we got the notification our food was ready, we parked and entered our number. We waited at least 15 minutes and called after to let them know we had arrived. The girl who answered the phone proceeded to have a conversation with someone else before turning back to the call asking if we were still there and after we said yes and started to explain, she hung up on us. I decided to just go inside, which was empty and only had one person in front of me. Texas Roadhouse is always a go to place on the weekend. It does get very busy at night so make sure you join the waitlist ahead of time. The New York strip has a great crust and a nice fat cap which I personally love. The cactus blossom is a classic and is a great appetizer that feeds multiple people. The rolls are a hit or miss as sometimes they are undercooked but for the most part they come out nice and toasty and serve as a great free appetizer. The food here was amazing! We had a New York Strip and it was perfectly cooked to how we asked. The service was wonderful- we sat at the bar and the bartender did a wonderful job doing her job along with everyone else's, covering a very busy night. She was a great server and did a fantastic job and earned a great tip. The ambiance was a typical sports bar, with tvs for entertainment while waiting. Went there a week ago or so, it was alright the service was good as always and the rolls were amazing obviously. The things that were bad, were minor but still an issue. We've been here several times before and it's time for a review. 1st definitely join the waitlist before you go!!!! I joined at 5:45p on a Friday and it told me it was a 45-55 minute wait. This is typical. I headed over to get there at 6:30p and barely had to wait to be seated. We both ordered sirloin steaks and they were cooked perfectly and tasty. The prices we reasonable too with decent sized portions. Our server was very friendly and attentive without being annoying. I would definitely go here more but the restaurant is LOUD!!! It's hard to carry on a conversation without yelling. Part of the issue is that there's not a soft surface in the place to keep sound from bouncing around but they also keep the music way cranked up. I ordered togo. I ordered the country fried chicken with extra gravy, house salad (with extra ranch), mashed potatoes with gravy and a sweet tea. I get back to my hotel to find my ranch all over the bag almost as if they just threw it in the bag. I was pretty upset about it but was happy that i still had other food to eat. My sweet tea was hot and had no ice in it which was a bummer but I have a fridge I can put it in. I finally get to the meal and was happy to dig in after all these mishaps; I take a bite and the gravy and chicken were almost ice cold like it had been sitting for a while. I ordered my food and was at the restaurant to pick it up 10 mins later so it wasn't like I was late to pick it up. However, after forgetting BBQ sauce for our full slab of ribs, forgetting a (paid) extra side of rolls and butter, and then ALMOST pouring what's pictured onto my baked potato, I felt I should've at least called and forewarned them before they handed out anymore of their premade sour cream cups...and at least try to get my couple dollars added back to my card for the forgotten extra rolls while I'm at it. Normally, when we eat at Texas Roadhouse, we have excellent service and food! It was my birthday and my hubby decided on steak. I ordered the steak tips with no gravy and an extra side. My husband decided on chicken. We ordered a blooming onion as an app. It went downhill after my husband received his salad. No blooming onion, his food served first, then my food with an extraordinary amount of gravy! Waitress noticed and took it back. My husband finished his whole meal before I got mine back. She operated from a place of integrity and made sure that our every need was met. This is if we were her special guest but from what I've heard that's how she is to everyone. If there were training classes given to the staff I would highly suggest that she be one of the key people to help. She would make someone want to come back to your restaurant! When we first arrived the hostess got our saucers to escort us to the table and her ponytail touch the top saucer. I immediately asked for a different one because her hair had been on the top one. She didn't like it that much but she complied. When I spoke to the manager he was almost dismissive with his response. Said that they are following the dress code as far as their hair is concerned but would tell her to be a little bit more careful but didn't seem to care at all about what I was saying. It doesn't matter if your hairs in a ponytail if the ponytail is then going to touch the plates and food that people are to eat or are used to eat on. The classic American steakhouse complete with extensive menu, great service, predictable collection of beef, chicken, and seafood served up mostly with way too much sodium but sure does it taste good. Really tho, do ya guys have to give us more than our daily salt dose in one entree? Not healthy at all! Our trio still had a good time with apps and steaks (thanks for gift cards) dinning to the max. Went for lunch and the ribs were clearly last nights. Parts of the ribs were cooler than room temperature(only one way that could happen) and all of it was dry. The self-proclaimed owner was defensive and unapologetic when he asked us how the meal was. I have eaten at many Texas Roadhouse locations and probably had the ribs 100+ times. These were obviously warmed up so not sure why the "owner" chose to defend it. Poor character! That will certainly affect my decision to visit this location again. The knife for cutting steaks was too big for my nine year old daughter and during cutting process the whole steak fell on the floor and the waitress just made sure whether it was my daughter' s responsibility and then refilled my water without any suggestion. no peanuts any more and rolls were just ok. after dinner before I left I could not help telling the front desk guy that the too salty taste, he replied indifferently and perfunctorily.
