Other than a serious time scheduling issue, I have nothing but good things to say about Texas Oncology.

His PA, Mary is reliable, knowledgeable, and absolutely wonderful to work with. They are all passionate people who truly love working with Dr. Khan and are inspired by their patients. A routine physical (for my mom) led to a hematologist and those results led to Dr. Khan. The diagnosis was Polycythemia Vera (PV). Polycythemia is a blood cancer that causes your bone marrow to make too many red blood cells. This was a rare disease 20 years ago but Dr. Khan was able to figure it out and start her on oral chemotherapy. Today, PV is well known, with more information and treatments. I've been a part of her journey from the beginning. Twenty years of weekly INR appointments, routine bone marrow biopsies, numerous scans and imaging to name a few. The pandemic has been a tricky situation for us, and her cancer, but appointments with Dr. Khan's office has been safe. They have updated their protocols so that everyone involved can stay safe. At the moment I cannot go in with her, everyone is asked to stay in their car if they are not a patient. I understand. If you are new, they are offering online appointments to get started. Did I mention that my mom is 88?

This place has the rudest nurse's, you would think they would have more thoughtfull personality…read more There could be more comfort giving to the patients. No care for the person with them supporting them. "The patients" It is clear these nurse's all in the field for money only. No care, no personality, it is just push them through and get them out. It is sad... As if people where not humans. Disabled people should not come here, because you will be treated rudely. Cancer patients should be cared for in a loving way not as a pay check like these nurse's act.

The financial advisor will definitely judge you based off looks and color. They refused service unless I pay for 5 visits in advance. Why advance I have no clue. I spoke with others who are also getting iron with higher copay. They have not had my same experience. Lacee called me at 9am screaming as to why she must cancel my visit if I don't pay upfront for all 5 infusions. I also spoke with Shamee and Justin her supervisor. I was pulled into a little office with them both not sure why as I was singled out. Justin just sat at at the end gave me a perky little im sorry about your experience. Once I reachex the infusion section wasn't greeted so I walked to the counter and gave my name. From there it was a pleasant visit. I will be switching locations as I absolutely love my oncologist Dr. Thomas.

I want to highlight my personal experiences with this office and not with Dr. Trumby himself…read more Something that I believe many doctors, including Dr. Trumby overlook: how much their staff impacts the overall patient experience and even their bottom line. When I first called to make an appointment, I was put through a screening process and then sent to "Shannon's" voicemail, which promised a call back within 24 hours to schedule my first appointment. I called three times over two weeks, trying to get an appointment. I was already terrified about what was happening to me. It's demeaning to feel like you have to beg for someone to care. I'm sincerely disappointed because several people referred me to Dr. Trumby and I honestly believed he could help me. Thankfully, I found another hematologist/oncologist whose staff called back within the day, treated me with respect, and made me a priority from day one. They made it clear I deserved the attention and care I needed. Doctors should realize that an unresponsive staff push patients to seek out other places where they feel heard and valued. It is my hope there is someone in management that reads this and is able to fix "the problems" within their house!
