Madeline Manor - Let us help make your dream wedding come true.

    Madeline Manor

Regina and Madeline Manor truly gave us a fairytale wedding!…read more I had contacted many venues but the very first time I spoke with Regina, I knew she was the right person to plan and host our wedding. My fiancé really wanted to get married on July 4th, so we had only a few weeks to plan everything! And since this would be a small ceremony (only 10 people), we wanted to do this on a budget. I didn't know the first thing about planning a wedding, but in talking with Regina, I was immediately put at ease because I could tell she was gifted at planning weddings (or any events) and had everything I would need for a beautiful wedding! Madeline Manor is gorgeous! It's spacious with many rooms for everything you will need for any type or size event. The interior design is a classic style featuring dark, espresso wood flooring and an eye-catching grand, spiral staircase. They also have wonderful outdoor accommodations had we elected that option. Although Regina and Madeline Manor hold all types and sizes of events, they had recently decided to start offering "elopement packages". This was precisely what we were looking for. She prepared 3 elopement package proposals for us to choose from, each tier with a different level of offerings. She laid out what offerings came with each package, allowing for certain choices. She made herself available by phone, email and even an in person visit to see the venue and work through details and finalize plans. Regina and Madeline Manor took care of every detail from décor and food to event timing, photos and even music! They made this process so easy, all we had to do was pick what we wanted and they made it happen!! The day of the event, when I saw the décor, set-up and food, it was more stunning than I could have imagined. And the food tasted divine! While we were on a budget, you would have never known it. The beauty and elegance they provided far exceeded what we would have dreamed possible for the cost! The experience they provided for us was in no way diminished from that of a traditional large wedding, no detail was spared, everything was included, it was merely on a smaller scale! She and the staff really exceeded our expectations. We will never forget and always be grateful to them! It really felt as though we were celebrating with family as they seemed as excited and happy for us as we were! Regina and her staff are warm, friendly and generous people who are easy to work with and are eager to help. Madeline Manor is perfect place for a wedding, small or large!!!

We signed a contract on our first walk through in January 2025 and it was the best decision ever! Thistlewood has great people that ask all the right questions that we wouldn't have thought of. What made them stand out to us was how upfront and honest they were regarding costs and their packages. Not only did they offer a wide range of choices but their priority was my husband and I. Other venues we viewed were nearly three times the cost of Thistlewood but offered not even half of the services provided or nearly as beautiful. For what we paid for a full day at Thistlewood would have been a partial payment for a few hours at other non inclusive venues. They made it possible to not only plan the wedding in 10 months but to perfect it! If there was a mix up on communications they fixed it immediately. Thistlewood offered amazing options for vendors that they recommended, most notable of these was our wedding coordinator. Who, might I add, was fantastic in all communications with the venue and other vendors. The venue itself was absolutely beautiful. The food provided by their on site kitchen staff was some of the best food we have ever had. Not to mention the sheer variety of options related to food AND their attentiveness to allergies and dietary restrictions of guests. The guest loved it so much, many said they had not been to a wedding as nice as ours in a long time. Friends our age said Thistlewood set the bar for what a wedding should be and we couldn't agree more. We have not had a single negative thing said about the venue, only praise. Thistlewood is the best wedding venue for your wedding from price to the nearly all inclusive packages!

After touring the property with the owner, we decided this was the special place we wanted to tie the knot, so we quickly signed the paperwork and sent our deposit to secure our Friday wedding date. Initially, I felt very confident in the owner, Leslie, and was extremely excited to be working with him. That all changed in the few months leading up to our wedding date. My husband and I discussed with Leslie in person, on two separate occasions and once via email, about us staying the Thursday night before our wedding and having our bridal party stay in the various beds/bedrooms on the property. When Leslie called us the week before our wedding to finalize everything, he claimed that he had no idea we were having other people come and stay and proceeded to tell me it was "a misunderstanding on your part" and that he would require not only an extra one thousand dollars, but that the cottage, that was set to house half of our party, did not have running hot water. We were left to scramble at the last minute to find a new place for our family. Fast forward to the Thursday before our wedding: we get there after the 3pm check in time to start setting up and decorating, and the pavilion is a wreck. The ceiling and walls were caked in dirt, there were leaves and dirt all over the floor and the tables were not set up, as per our contract. We did not complain, just grabbed the broom and swept and set the tables up ourselves. The next day, we were left scrambling for trash bags (per our contract, the venue supplied trash bags), there were strings of lights that were out, and there was a dead bird in the pavilion. As the evening went on, the owner Leslie, showed up towards the last few hours of our reception and proceeded to bombard our day of coordinator with questions about trash clean up and haul off, after we had already informed him that we hired people to take care of everything. We did not notice until a few days later, that Leslie had sent my husband an email on the night of our wedding stating that we should "go ahead and send him $250 for clean up." It did not end there. A week later, my husband reached out to Jack, the property manager, to ask about a few missing items we thought might have been left on the property. Jack then informed us that one of our guests had popped a balloon with confetti in it, in the grass, in which he stated we should "bring a vacuum" to clean it up. Once my husband confronted him with the various issues we had that previous week at our wedding, Jack quickly turned the blame to the owner saying that "Leslie is in over his head at times." The amount of unprofessionalism shown by these two men was, and still is, extremely disappointing. The owner was clearly unorganized and would frequently confuse me with the Saturday bride. My husband and I were questioned on whether we made our deposit and final payment the week before our wedding and requested receipts. I found out a few weeks after my wedding, that the owner was trying to blame me, as the bride, for the lack of basic housekeeping for his business (bedsheets changed, beds made, toilets scrubbed, floors swept and mopped). It has taken me a few months to write this review because every time I thought about my wedding, it would bring negative reminders of the unnecessary stress and issues that were added by the venue. I am now able to focus on the only positive, which is marrying my husband. The Winfield Inn is an extremely unique and gorgeous property, but the owner and property manager, in my opinion, are not worth the money, or stress. Until the owner hires someone to take over management, I will not be recommending this venue to anyone in the near future.

The unmatched natural beauty of Spring Lake was the perfect back drop to our ceremony on the water's edge at Sycamore Point. We rented the pretty white chairs for seating down there. One thing I would note about that site is that the walk from our ceremony to the dinner was a bit long for our elderly guests. We decided to hire a pedi-cab for a couple hours to shuttle folks around the park before and after the ceremony. I highly recommend this, or a golf cart, if you plan your ceremony for Sycamore Point. We rented out the glass-bottom boats for our guests, which made for a truly unique and memorable cocktail hour before dinner on the rooftop of the historic hotel (now the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment). They even let us use their tables and 50 chairs! (We did have to rent some extras for our large group). The staff was great and there was ample parking for our guests. As Bobcat Alumni, river-rats, and stewards of the planet, my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled to have shared this natural treasure with all the people we love. She likes things that are different most of the time so I thought I'd try a bed and breakfast with her and was able to find the Crystal River Inn, listed as a 3 star hotel on the travel sites. Seemed to be a discount and I found out why later, but everything worked out fine. This place is just a few blocks away from Texas State so location-wise for us was perfect for our tour the next day. Very easy to find and it's also just off the downtown square so right in the thick of things and allowed us to "check" out the area pretty easy. The reason for the discount is that one part of the hotel is being renovated and so only about half the rooms are available. We stayed in the portion they call the Thomas House. Now we got there on a Sunday evening and so no work being done. There is some bustling noise on the street which mostly goes away by sundown. Also some foot traffic as there seems to be students walking back and forth for various retail spots. Very cozy and quaint rooms however with their own bathroom. One of those small town places where you just pick up your key on the table amongst the other keys for expected guests. Open parking in the back and easy in and out. Supposedly there is a ghost there that likes to mess with the temperature but the thermostat was blocked off and it was quite nice throughout the night. Though my daughter is into that we saw no ghosts that either pushed us down the stairs or helped us up them according to legend...LOL... Has a coffee station for the morning which is help yourself. You can hear other people moving around in the other rooms but nothing too terrible at least on this night. We did not need anything but there was a contact number and the innkeeper apparently was on call if necessary. I think a cozy place. Decor was very nostalgic and man the bath water was nice and hot and plentiful! I don't know that I would call it a romantic getaway place as the surroundings aren't idyllic; but it was a great alternative to the regular motels/hotels for not much more. The bed and pillows were worth the extra 20 bucks....LOL.... I think we got the night for $120 and after all those taxes it was about $144. Don't mind staying there if we are out that way again.

She had the nerve to say to me that they looked at the cameras and I was walking perfectly fine which is so untrue, it's shocking. I had to take my shoes off and scan the floor to be able to walk.
