The cabin was very clean and worked great for our family of four. The only hiccups with the cabin is the microwave didn't work...so no popcorn for my son. They also don't provide either shampoo or soap... or maybe it's a combo. They have one pump on the wall but no clue what it is. The grounds have lots to do. There is a fishing pond but it looked very drained. They have a little inside area with a pool table, games and puzzles. Outside they have a playscape, volleyball net and fire pit. The highlight of the trip had to be the animals. While the petting zoo is cute, you can't really get in with the animals. At the safari, we spent so much time laughing!!! Beware of the ostrich... it is aggressively after your food!!! We had so much fun. The main animals that eat from you are at the beginning and end.

I think we were the only RV camping this weekend that wasn't longer term so it was super quiet. We pulled up and immediately had ostrich checking us out. The kids loved it. RV pad was gravel but pretty level. There's no shade but if the trees at each site survive it will eventually provide some relief. The site has water, electric, your own dump drain and a picnic table. The bathrooms were clean with showers and laundry facilities. The youngest enjoyed the play area and we all liked the petting zoo area. The driving safari was fun. We went early so it was still cool and the animals we're still active. We saw pretty much everything that was on the brochure except the watusi. Yes, the land is suffering due to the drought and heat but that is all of central Texas right now. The animals all looked healthy and had multiple water sources available. Plus lots of babies! The baby bison, including a nearly white one, were super cute. The adults were impressive. We had a very inquisitive ostrich who reached through the window to take a whole bag of food! I grabbed it back but it was pretty hilarious. He knows the system! As do the llamas. We did a second drive through around 4pm and the heat had driven most of the animals to the shade but we did get better views of the wildebeest and more attention from all the bison. That evening we dropped in to the community room and played pool and some board games. Yes, some of the items are hard worn and need replacing, but for kids it was still plenty fun. The woman working the front desk was super friendly and helpful. Overall, we'll worth the hour or so drive here to get away for the weekend. Almost anything you need you can get from a dollar store about a mile away.

I believe that I have found a hidden gem! After being told that I had to have reservations at…read moreColorado Bend State Park to camp overnight; we found our way to Sulphur Springs. Okay, there are many, many cats that are sleeping around the office area and yes, it doesn't smell the greatest, but you're only there for less than three minutes at the office signing in. NOT a big deal at all in my opinion. The lady that works there can be rude, but honestly, I don't think she realizes it. When we asked if they do anything for Active Duty Military; her reply was more of a snicker when she said no-- it was more like she couldn't believe that we had the audacity to ask! We shrugged it off, not a big deal. We wanted to do primitive camping for one night. The lady told us that it was $12 a night and we must check out by 9AM. We definitely did not want to wake early in the morning so the lady gave us a deal of $22 which is basically two nights. The old man the other yelpers are referring to isn't a bother. He will follow you with his little side by side to make sure you find a place and if you need guidance, he will help you. He may be hard to understand, but he was helpful to us. MUST HAVE 4X4! It is a must! There is a two miles stretch of primitive camping; you can literally put your tent anywhere you want by the river. The closet neighbor was 400 feet away! There are some campfires that you can use in some sections, but the further out, you may have to do some digging and build you own fire pit. Also the further you go out, the more open spaces there are and the scenery opens up beautifully, BUT you must have a 4X4 to get through!! There are sharp uphills with rocks, sections of the path in water, and winding down hills with branches that will scratch your vehicle, but it is so worth it. It's just a one way so cross your fingers that there won't be another car heading towards you. We also went exploring around. There is no swimming pool and we didn't come across any Sulfur Springs; however we did smell the sulfur in the air. There's also a worn out fish cleaning section. Pretty much just a laid back place to hang for a couple days without too many people bothering you. You can fish and hike around. We went hiking towards the primitive road and we went ways down and discovered a cave with two carcasses at the entrance! We immediately turned around and hiked back to camp, haha. Compost toilets probably never have been scrubbed clean so be sure to have your toilet paper, wet wipes, and your hand sanitizer with you. If you are a girl, might be better to bring a portable toilet for you. There's also a shower, but I didn't check it out. So if you're looking for more of a calm place to camp, this is it!

It is very evident the water has been below full capacity for some time. Once we set up, we were happy and any disappointment abated. Although we had no view of the lake, it was close by and the oak trees provided a nice shade. Deer were abundant and the lake provided for good fishing. Our site had full hook up and was adequately graveled & fairly level. The site was clean & maintained with a nice concrete picnic table set on a concrete slab under a shelter. We even got 4 over the air TV channels. One, a local CBS station. A nice, quiet area. I would have enjoyed several days!

The restrooms are pretty clean but the showers get backed up so you're standing in ankle deep water yuck the laundry room takes at least guarantee 2hrs to wash and dry a load. It's also $2 and up to wash and dry each load. It's noisy being right off the inter state but honestly not too bad. We can't wait for another rv park to have an opening for long term. It is small and has trees and the noise level is low. I mean it's not bad honestly and decent prices also
