From Amarillo to Galveston, looking for something out of the ordinary, we some how ended up at the Texas Ranger and glad we did. Clean, comfortable, quiet and a very rustic feel the owners have done a great job on the place. Gary and Paula, the managers, did a great job of making us feel at home. There isn't much around. We brought dinner with us (micro wave in room) and enjoyed dinner with a view after a nice swim in the pool. One thing that is not mentioned on their web site is that the room are adjoining, which is perfect if you have kids. Next time I'm going have to you the bbq area. It looked fun. Enjoy you stay!

Only complaint is there were ants everywhere but that's not something a state park can really control. They only bothered our dog once.

The restrooms are pretty clean but the showers get backed up so you're standing in ankle deep water yuck the laundry room takes at least guarantee 2hrs to wash and dry a load. It's also $2 and up to wash and dry each load. It's noisy being right off the inter state but honestly not too bad. We can't wait for another rv park to have an opening for long term. It is small and has trees and the noise level is low. I mean it's not bad honestly and decent prices also

Gorman falls I feel like is the most popular. There were so many people there! We saw the water fall and got to walk along the river bend. Then we went to the spring trail, that place was magical! It looked like a hobbit home!!! E we made it to the spring, but sadly you are not allowed to get in it. Finally we made it to the spice trail, but we were barely able to make it out in time, it was not a good decision, we did have to hike-run about 2 miles in the dark, I was freaking out. So message to all it's make sure you are not hiking too late because it waspitch black. Luckily we had outdoor flashlights and made it, but it felt like it was never ending. The trail is awesome, we crossed over the river several times, it's like a maze to get through, and the top was beautiful, but yeah we didn't get to enjoy the last two miles. Overall this was an awesome park to visit! I'm excited to keep exploring Texas parks

I visited Colorado Bend SP earlier today, and I'll admit that I wasn't expecting it to be so far…read moreout of the way. That's not necessarily a negative, but just something to note. Getting there was very straightforward, but cell reception is very limited there. I was prepared with offline maps so that didn't bother me. The road takes you right to the entrance of the park. There's an unattended booth up front, but I self-registered myself at the check-in station over to the side. There was a pen provided that I used to fill out one of the forms, and dropped it in the locked box with my information. I came here to hike to Gorman Falls today. Part of the road that leads to the trailhead was flooded, but I was able to drive through it with a standard SUV. The road was rocky in some areas and gravel the rest. A high-clearance vehicle isn't needed. There was plenty of parking at the trailhead, along with a restroom with a composting toilet. The trail was well-marked and shaded the first 1/3 of the trail. The rest of the way is exposed to the sun until you get to the fork in the trail that leads to Gorman Falls. There is a bike rack here as the last section is hiking only. The rock face is quite steep towards the bottom, but there were ropes that guided me down. I had my dog with me and I had to carry it at one point just to get down. Because of the rains this past week, water was flowing at the falls. You can't hike to the falls, but there is an observation deck with some benches to relax in the shade here. Returning back up the rock wall was easier than the way down. I also stopped by the park headquarters, about 5 miles down from the entrance of the park. They had a nice selection of gifts and souvenirs for purchase, and plenty of brochures for nearby state parks. The only option for camping here is primitive; there is no plumbing available, other than a spigot for potable water. Overall, this park was well-maintained and I would return for a second visit. Being just 1.5 hours away from NW Austin, Colorado Bend SP makes for a good day trip option with little traffic to and back.

To Ridgeview RV Park - Posting to Raise Awareness…read more I have been staying here since mid-July 2025 as a monthly tenant. On September 27, I received an email stating that Ridgeview had "overbooked" and needed my spot, asking me to leave. As a monthly tenant, they cannot legally make me leave just because they overbooked. After speaking with other guests, I learned that we are all being charged different rates for the exact same type of site ("deluxe pull through"). I also discovered major discrepancies in electricity billing--my bill was nearly $250 a month, despite only running our AC, while my neighbors (who use more electricity) paid only $100-150. When I emailed about these inaccurate readings and unfair billing, I was pulled into the office to meet with the owner. Instead of resolving this professionally, I was told that all of this is "legal" and that pricing varies depending on how long people stay, or because of demand in the area. They offered me a new site--but it was too small for my camper, despite their claims it could hold 50-foot units. When I tried to address this, the manager became extremely rude, raised her voice, would not allow me to speak with the owner, and then hung up on me. Shortly after, police arrived because the manager had called them claiming criminal trespass--despite the fact that I was fully paid up on rent and electricity. Even the officers stated it was a waste of time and advised me to take this matter to court. To make matters worse, I later discovered the manager was calling other RV parks in the Abilene area, telling them not to rent to me or my family. This is not only unprofessional--it's harassment and slander. I ultimately decided to leave because I refuse to be forced into moving spots after five months, especially with a toddler and animals, and because of the continued mistreatment. To future guests/tenants: be aware of Ridgeview RV Park's practices. Overbooking long-term tenants, inconsistent rates, inaccurate billing, and harassment are not how a park should be run. Dom (owner), if you want to run a successful park, you need to ensure fair treatment of long-term tenants and properly train your staff. Rachel (manager), your treatment of guests has been disrespectful, unprofessional, and unacceptable. This is my experience, and I share it so that others can be informed before staying here.

The hookups were very convenient and worked well. The wi-fi was the best and most reliable we have ever found at a campground. We were even able to use it to stream to our TV, at least during the day when it seemed like most residents were away (not so great in the evenings and weekends). The sites were very wide and we were able to park both our truck and car beside the camper without feeling crowded. I am sure they will be adding more amenities as time goes on - they added several new spaces while we were there. We would definitely stay there again if back in the area.
