This is the best Texas Hill country getaway I've ever been to. It offers anything you would ever want for everyone in the family. We like to tent camp on the river, they have the glamping set ups that are great for the kids, my in-laws stayed in a rental cabin along the river and also rented a RV spot with full hook up. We spent our Central Texas vacation with all of our family on the lamp River and went fishing for rainbow trout and bass. We're gonna come back for the tubing adventure when it warms up a bit. Dos Rios was amazing! The camp site and bathrooms were clean (and warm!) and the staff were incredibly helpful. If you're looking for a place to enjoy nature, see the night sky, and completely unplug with no cell service, then this is the place you need to go. Easy access to the river, so much land to explore, and a cute little icehouse across the street if you want to grab a beer and meet your neighbors and some locals. We have loved the Llano River and camping at Dos Rios RV Park in the past, so we decided try it again. This trip was MUCH better than the last trip in 2022. The rv park still needs some grooming - lawn care, trash receptacles, and sewer work, but overall, we enjoyed our stay! We were not harassed about parking all weekend, which huge plus. A lovely weekend retreat out in the hill country, sites are neat and tidy, 50 amp full hookup and a lovely view from site 38. Staff are friendly and attentive. Their rental cabins are new and very convenient if you dont have an rv or tent. The river is good for a swim, paddle, fish etc. no tv reception but 3g on verizon and tmobile. read more

Great place. Friendly staff with positive attitude. Stayed in a vintage trailer that was in great shape. We sat in a hammock overlooking the river as the resident cats seemed to mock us. On a morning walk to the 'island' I saw lots of wild life. Good access to River. Short drive to bat cave which Is $5 if in season. Mason had no ice for 3 days. Went to Dos rios this past weekend for the 4th time. As always a great weekend. We had 2 wild and crazy 4 year olds with us and they had the time of their lives, biking, fishing, swimming, rock hunting and being little hell raisers. The owners of the park are always making improvements and it really looks great. I like the new signage and the new cabins look awesome. May need to come back and stay at one of them sometime. Ms. Tammy is a very welcoming host and the kids love her bc she always has icy pops. We already booked our next stay. read more

Once again, another amazing family trip at Dos Rios! This is our 5th year coming to this beautifully serene spot in the middle of the Texas hill country! We rented all three of the lower tiny cabins for our older kids, the bunkhouse for us &younger kids, then the cute Airstream at Spot #10 for my inlaws. Every need we had was attended to by the manager Tammy & her staff. The river was down from the last couple years,but the water was still flowing & still felt cool &wonderful. Our older sons were even able to kayak for hours & said they saw 4 wild mountain goats! The atmosphere is very family friendly & still felt so nice sitting on the big front porch watching the sunset. Cant wait til next summer for sure, but hubby &I are planning a New Years escape for ourselves to enjoy a snuggly cabin & walks in the (hopefully) crips, cold air!! read more

This hidden gem just might be our favorite camping spot in Texas! We've stayed 3 times now and keep coming back with friends. Love that there are cabins and RVs to rent for our friends that don't have campers. Tammy is always super helpful and friendly. She always goes above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Dos Rios is a little slice of heaven. Upon my arrival, Tammy was kind and welcoming. I arrived after dark and was a little nervous finding my way around but Tammy helped me find my friends and made me feel right at home! The campsites are all tucked away so you have privacy yet close enough to your neighbors to make new friends and not feel scared in the dark. Tammy was kind enough to help my mom find Dos Rios after getting lost in town. Tammy took the time to meet up with my mom in Mason and make sure she got to our camp. Tammy goes above and beyond and truly gives a personal and loving touch to the Dost Rios experience. Tammy also has an animal rescue in the area and is truly an amazing hostess. Tammy definitely makes Dos Rios my new favorite home away from home and I absolutely cannot wait to get back! read more

This place is fantastic! First, second and, third time we went tent camping. Got an airstream and a cabin the next two times bc we wanted to spend less time making camp and more time enjoying the surrounding nature. Dos Rios is literally gorgeous year round! Spring and fall will have you in awe! You can see the Milky Way on a clear night. The river is a blast when the water level is high enough to kayak/canoe. Fires places, grills, hammocks, pet friendly. Oh and there a pecan tree by the river! Got a whole bag full of the sweetest pecans I've ever had last fall! If you're going to visit, please keep it nice and clean the way it is now bc I'd love to go back and Tammy does an amazing job keep up with the place. Enjoy Also- Tammy is awesome! Pro's: Dos Rios RV Park & Campground is a place where family, kids, pets & friends come together to enjoy campfires, wonderful views and nature. A place to enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from the campsites, immediately overlooking the crystal clear Llano River from high above. Private Cabins and Campers are available for rent for the quick overnighter or private tent sites are available for the more adventurous folks as well as full hook-up RV sites. Great place for fishing, photo opportunities, reading, camp-fires and relaxing. This is a privately owned RV Park/Camping-site with a really laid back atmosphere. Con's: My husband and I were encouraged by the Camp-host to book an RV site closest to the water. I had mentioned to her that our camper is a 40' big rig in addition to our F250 Truck pulling it. With that said, the RV sites closest to the water #4-#11 (when booked) are not a place for that size of an RV since there is no way getting in or out, which was my biggest concern when booking - but was told by the camp host that 'everybody' does that. Lesson learnt.... follow your gut. We were in RV Spot #4 - and were thankful that our immediate small RV neighbor in RV Spot # 5 left early with their truck and camper the morning of our departure - without that, we would not have been able to get out since the turn around is way to tight. In addition, access to the lower RV sites 4-11 are only accessible on a narrow road and a steep dip. One of the smaller RV campers got damaged by driving through the dip on his way out. Our camper was able to move through the dip with a 2" clearance from the ground which cut it very close. A way to improve this dip would be to add 1'-2' of fill dirt and rocks, to be able to raise it some. RV sites for big rig's (when the park is fairly booked) are very tight and close together. My suggestion, when entering - walk the campgrounds by foot first to evaluate how to best pull in and park into the booked site. We saw several large campers on the upper RV sites struggling to park. It is evident that the owner has put in hours of hard labor, creating this campground and offering a beautiful spot so close to the river to the public. With that said, a great plus could be a privacy hedge or fence of some kind surrounding the Host RV camper which is parked immediately at the front entrance, for all the gathered 'necessities' immediately spread around the camper to be somewhat hidden - first impressions are a lasting one. Other than that, this RV park/campground is situated close to Fredericksburg, Mason, Llano and sits 'smack in the middle a the beautiful Texas Hill Country', with historic markers close to it and an abundance of nature. Came for a quick weekend getaway from Austin. Super cute park! Caretakers are really nice. It was quiet and clean. We stayed away from the river entrance but it was just a quick walk to get there. And the kids loved biking around the 'road'. The RV spots near the river have a nice communal area and fire pit. The spots away from the water have private pits and picnic benches. We stayed at 12, between the campers they provide. Kids loved playing in the river but there are decent drop offs on the way to the water so they had to be watched closely. I took my two young daughters out to stay in mid-October. It was our first time out here and what a secret gem Dos Rios is. The entire grounds are kept extremely clean and tidy. And there are fun amenities everywhere. Hammocks perched around the grounds. Benches overlooking the beautiful river. Firepits by the sites. It was exactly what we needed as an escape. We had a great time jumping off the cliffside into the water, piling rocks up to make little dams, skipping rocks, watching the fish, and just swimming around in the water. It was during COVID times and we are very cautious about social distancing and I am happy to say that we never felt uncomfortable because there is PLENTY of wide open space to spread out. At night, we sat on one of the benches and we were awestruck by how many stars we could see. We could actually see the swirly haze of the Milky Way. Perfect memories with my young kids. We walked and drove around the property, as we are campers, and even though we were staying in cabins this time, I wanted to check out the camp sites. They looked great. Private enough from other sites to be able to enjoy yourself and feel like you are out in nature. We stayed in the 1 Bedroom Cabin in spot 6 the first night. I had packed all sorts of cooking pans and utensils. Trust me. There is no need to pack that, if you are staying in this cabin. They had it ALL. We loved sitting out on the porch decks and the firepit was great. The second night, we moved to the Bunk House in Spot 15. What a cool cabin! Very comfy and cozy. The bunk beds were extremely comfortable and the small kitchen was perfect. Again, we loved sitting out on the porch deck, which is perched on top of the little hill. Great view! And another win with the firepit at this cabin! We will certainly be going back to get away from it all, soon! read more

Lovely property, cabins are cute and all super close to the river. River is GORGEOUS! It moves kind of fast, lending to its beauty and clean-ness, but it's not fast-moving in a scary or dangerous way, even for kids (assuming they're comfortable in water, of course). It seems to be reasonably shallow, and my lazy dogs had no trouble swimming from one side to the other. We stayed in the efficiency cabin with our two dogs - it was more than enough room and came with plenty of amenities! Cabin had all of this and probably other stuff I'm forgetting: utensils, towels, soap/shampoo/shower/TP, grill, some cookware, linens a-plenty, fire pit, AC unit (which worked great even in August heat!). We had no cell service (ATT/iPhones literally said 'no service'), but supposedly there is wifi. Whatevs, we managed to survive. :P Reasonably priced. Quiet at night, quiet during the day as a matter of fact, very dog and family friendly! TONS of huge oaks, providing ample shade for grilling and sitting at one of their several picnic tables. The entire campground is beautiful. I would recommend a cabin to anyone looking for a slightly more indoor camping (i.e., sleeping inside with AC, haha) experience. They also have RV hookups and primitive campsites. read more

My husband and I and our dachshunds stayed in Tiny House #12 for two nights in August. The cabin is beautiful inside and pleasantly roomy. It's in a shady area of the park. The cabin has a front porch with table and chairs and a picnic table and fire pit in the back. It also is equipped with a charcoal grill. The bathroom is surprisingly big! The kitchen is well equipped with a spacious refrigerator/freezer, microwave, electric 2 burner cooktop, coffeemaker, & toaster oven. Everything was clean and spotless. We were only a very short walk to the beautiful river where you can fish, swim or relax. Seems like you're in the middle of nowhere but close enough to a grocery store and a few really good restaurants for takeout. We will definitely be back! read more

Loved this campsite. So beautiful. RV sites were clean and set up well. We stayed in spot #4. This area of the park had an amazing view. The public bathroom/shower could use an upgrade- I'd suggest maybe remove the carpet- but otherwise it was clean and usable. The campgrounds were just so fun to explore and appreciate nature. Loved bringing our dogs and kids to wade in the river. Owner was super responsive and friendly when booking. Looking forward to another visit soon. read more

Great campsite for tents if you're looking for seclusion! RVs are closer together but that's normal. You can walk right down to the river from the site. There's also onsite bathrooms and showers, & they're pretty nice! There's tons of cacti all over, so be aware of that when you bring furry friends! read more

We loved our stay at the park! We pulled in and were able to drive straight to our camp site without having to check in at the office. The park has a rustic appeal. The sites are well marked by easy to read signs. Our campsite was up on a bluff overlooking the river. It was difficult to see because the trees were thick with foliage, but the sound of water flowing over the rocks was soothing. We enjoyed a short drive up the road to see the James River. We saw signs for a bat cave along the way, but chose to sit in our chairs in the river with our ice chest and sipped cocktails. We enjoyed having dinner in town at the winery. Our biggest regret is that we didn't book a couple of extra days on this trip. We will definitely return when we can spend more time to explore the surrounding area. read more

For tent camping, I think this park would be a good choice. If you have an RV though and choose to use spots 31-38, plan to be VERY close to your neighbor. We didn't even light a campfire for fear of damaging our RV or another's. We won't be back. read more

We celebrated my boyfriends 33rd bday here and stayed in the smaller 2 person cabin and it was INCREDIBLE!!! we ended up renting two kayaks and got shuttled to the drop in spot (6.5 mile trip) I would definitely make sure the water is up because it was a pretty intense kayak trip and would have been much easier and less walking with our kayaks if we had about a foot more of water. It was an incredible and beautiful ride either way but pack TONS of water! Great location and they do have wifi so you aren't completely off the grid. The facilities and camp grounds were so clean and plenty of light at night. The managers were extremely responsive too. There is a spot to swim in the river o bring floats. We will definitely be going back many more times. Love this place!! read more

We loved staying at the Avion RV at Dos Rios RV Park! The park managers, Bob and Marsha were very helpful, accommodating and provided us with everything we needed for our stay. The RV was perfectly clean and the RV park exceeded our expectations. The town of Mason is such a hidden gem and was such an awesome getaway from the hustle and bustle of Austin. The restaurants and wineries were fantastic and we loved the overall vibe of the town. We will definitely be back in the summer to enjoy the river and take advantage of the canoes they rent out. read more

I am amending my previous review solely on the fact that the owner of the park reached out and actually took to heart what I posted and did his best to fix the issues that we had. He also gave us a refund which he didn't have to do. I initially gave it two stars but have now changed it to four. The only thing that I cannot amend on my review is the way we were treated by the assistant manager. We reserved a spot three weeks in advance only to show up and someone else is in it and has been there for two weeks. The "landlord", for lack of a better word, told my wife that we could move to spot 37 and blamed it on a glitch in their booking system. I was not satisfied with 37 as it had no trees so we pulled into 38. We went back down to let her know that we would prefer 38. Knocked on the door and she came out with an attitude and said that 38 was taken. OK, well 33 was taken by us via reservation three weeks ago. She ended up letting us stay in 38 which is a good thing because we would've left and they wouldn't have cared either way. We chose this place based upon the reviews, pictures and the fact that the Llano River is absolutely gorgeous. The waterfront sites are by far the best spots (in my opinion) but the ones at the top aren't too shabby. My only complaint would be that you can't see the river from the spots at the top, other than 39, which is the glamping spot. Great view! If you want to get to the river you can drive down to the "common area" or you leave the RV park and drive down the hill to the water. With that said, the river alone is worth the trip. The people that live in the park are super cool and very friendly and the town of Mason is just great! And I'll say it again, the river alone is worth the trip. read more

We reserved spots next to our friends. Someone took our friends reserved spot. The manager wouldn't make them move and instead raised his voice at our friends. Our friends had to find a spot that no one was occupying. The fuse kept blowing at our campsite causing us to lose all of our electricity. They advertise wifi, but it doesn't work. My college aged daughter was house sitting for us. We had to drive in to town to make sure everything was going fine since there was no wifi. We will never stay here again. This is a great place to just get away from the city. We stayed in there cabin by the river it's nothing fancy but that's what I was looking for. No cell phone service was at first a little scary but then it made me see how much we depend on phones. The area has so much to offer we went to see the Eckert James river bat cave only thing I ca say is when they say you need to traverse a river to get there they are not lying but our mini van made it no problem. There's Enchanted rock kayaking digging for blue topaz. I can go on and on it provided many memories for my family. read more
