This is "glamping" all right. It is basically a hotel room in a covered wagon. They had a queen-size bed, twin bunk beds, coffee, a mini fridge, paper towels, and a table with two chairs. I wasn't expecting it to be so big and spacious! There is so much room even with all that stuff inside. Everything was incredibly clean, including the bathroom. Though there isn't a bathroom IN the wagon, it was right next to the wagon so walking to it wasn't an issue at all. The showers weren't awesome but they were fine enough considering you're technically camping. Certainly better than having none! The check in/out process was a breeze and the place is super easy to find, as well as convenient to all the fun Fredericksburg has to offer. We are absolutely staying at these wagons again next time we visit and so should you! Way too much fun.

They have cold running water and flush toilets in the bathrooms, but no shower facilities. They provide soap, paper towels and toilet paper. There's an outdoor spigot which could be used for filling water bottles. (Update: If you're heading to Enchanted Rock, I strongly recommend filling at least some water here before you go, because the water supply at E-rock is currently a little unreliable due to drought.) The campsites are all clustered around three small loops of unpaved road, so no hiking is required, and every few campsites share a fire pit. There are picnic tables near the main building, but not at each camp site. On the plus side, it's very near Enchanted Rock (about 6 miles). On a clear night, you get good views of the night sky. If you like music at night, from about 11 PM to maybe 1 or 2 AM, then camp closer to the main building. If not, best camp further away on the second or third loop, where the music is not as noticeable. On the down side, the camping areas are rather rocky, and on the weekend that I was there, quite dusty. I.e. dust was blowing up under the rainfly of the tent, through the mesh panels, and onto me and everything in the tent. I would recommend this place for people who don't get a reservation for a water site at E-rock, but don't want to hike out to the primitive sites there. In terms of difficulty of camping, it's somewhere between the two options at E-rock, but it does have the added benefit of having a store on site where you can buy things like bottled water, beer or ingredients for s'mores. If showers or flatter campsites are important to you, then I would recommend Lady Bird Johnson park in Frederickburg. It's about 10 miles further away, but has hot showers, and is much more convenient if you intend to eat dinner or do anything in town. That could also be a cheaper option since they charge $10 per tent per night, rather than per person, which is advantageous if you have three or more people sharing one large tent.

She did explain to me thats its rustic camping, no bells, no whistles, no shower or toilet house, and no store. I told her that was fine by me. She gave us the awesome site with the cement patio. We parked our fifth wheel so our door of the camper was facing the river. We loved it. It was such a beautiful view. We also brought our 14 yr old daughter and her friend. Believe it or not BUT THEY BOTH SAID THEY HAD A GREAT TIME playing in the water and sliding in and out of some cement looking slides that are by the road. Mind you, they did bring their phones with (urrrggg) But they recorded themselves having fun. Wish we could have taken those phones, but hey, we got them out and into nature and thats all we can ask for. LOL We even found quite a bit of beautiful rocks in the river, even some Llanite. My first 3 peices of Llanite. I was so happy. My husband looked at me funny, when I knew what they were called. I researched what people find on our way up there from Houston. Great being the passenger some times : ) They do state on their website that you can dig on the campground property, and you get to keep what you find. We loved that. We are no rockhounds, but after finding some nice pieces, I've been very interested in rocks now. The campground had what was needed for trailer camping. They had the water, electric and full hook up. What more do you need? As long as your camper has a toilet and shower, your golden. Get out there on the river.....Bring your chairs, Bring your coolers, And have fun! Your on vacation. You will find on a hot day, you can just walk down the hill to get to the water. Next thing you know, lots of cars are pulling up on the road and everyone else is gonna join you in the river with chairs and a cooler. Everyone stays to themselves and its very peaceful! Your trip is what you make it to be. Kingsland slab gives you the site and the rest is up to you! We will be going back to Kingsland slab this year as well.

Also, this is a very basic campground....although there are full hook ups, there are no concrete slabs & no bells and whistles. A little more upkeep on clearing brush and over grown tree limbs would allow a river view on some of the sites. Just a few improvements would really bump the place up. All in all we enjoy our stay & camp hosts are very nice.

Our unit featured a Murphy bed that converts into a cushioned bench, microwave oven, Roku-equipped television, Wi-Fi, HVAC, portable gas stove (for outdoor use only), a living area, bathroom, and an outdoor seating area accessed through a sliding glass door. The exterior is equipped with 120V and 240V plugs for recharging your EV, and a light over the doorway. The area shared by guests has seating, a couple propane gas grills, two hammocks, swings, and a bin containing grilling equipment and outdoor games like corn hole.
