I am extremely happy with Dr. Muncy. When I first moved to the area, my primary office sent me to another Ortho and that guy was so laid back and unconcerned for both my husband and I... he gave my husband an injection and then said probably PT but he did outline a plan or anything and my his and had knee pain for quite a while. MRI showed something but I can't remember all I know if the doctor's attitude lacked. A few months later, I called and asked if he would recommend a couple of items to help with my husband's knee pain and I wanted my FSA to cover it and he said he "didn't necessarily recommend" the products so he wasn't willing to help me get them. I was like, ok getting another doctor... that is how I came by Dr Muncy. Dr Muncy listened to me, made some recommendations, confirmed my left knee was probably hurting because it was over compensating for the right knee and then wanted to get me out of my pain in my right knee. He offered a plan to have a steroid injection now and then order Synvisc and when I was ready for it, it would've waiting in the clinic for me. I have osteoarthritis. He was very gentle giving the knee shot and didn't hurt me, took his time, then we went over the plan again and that was it. The reason for the 4 stars is because his office staff wanted me to handle the order of the medicine. Well the pharmacy wouldn't authorize with insurance and for 8 years I have received these shots and the office ordered through insurance and called when it was ready I don't know why they didn't want to take care of it but it took three calls to convince them how to get the injection medicine from my insurance. It's just time consuming to have to take time out to call and get it worked out. If the office staff is able to handle this order I will for sure update my review as I was really happy with the doctor.

We were contacted two months ago and told that my mother had overpaid by $300 and that a check would be mailed to her in 30-40 days. They verified her address. Now it has been over 60 days. I called the office today and was told that it was still being processed, "you know, they have to verify the mailing address, print the checks, and sign the checks, but they are really behind." I cannot imagine that it takes that long to process a check once you already have verification of the mailing address. The office clerk also said that there were many patients in this process. Really? How is that you overcharged so many people? If I owed a payment to AOA, I'm sure I would be penalized if I was more than 60 days late with the payment, but I doubt we will get any interest for AOA holding my mother's money for months. And, State law and Texas Medical Association requires that repayments of overcharges be return within 30 days to the patient. This is very poor office management for AOA.

Great staff at both the front office and the PT team in Irving…read more Unfortunately, my experience with billing is the reason I'm not leaving 5 stars. First, I was charged a no-show fee for an appointment with a PA that I never scheduled. Second, I was charged a no-show fee for a Monday PT appointment during a major ice storm, when schools were closed for multiple days and the City of Irving Police Department advised residents to stay off the roads. Most businesses, including grocery stores and banks, were also closed. If the clinic had used its texting system to clearly notify patients that appointments were still being held and that no-show fees would apply, that would be different. But expecting patients to travel in unsafe conditions without any communication is unreasonable. Because of this billing approach, I'll be continuing my care elsewhere.

I recently lost my ACA health insurance and was very nervous about the cost of this. I was a walk-in and they treated me right away. Because I was uninsured, I had to pay the $478 visit fee up front. I was evaluated by a good nurse and very good Physician's Assistant named Evan. I was quite impressed with him. For the fee, I received his evaluation, x-rays, an ultrasound, a Toradol shot, and a sling to take home. I was so relieved. The care and the cost were all very reasonable. I didn't mind not seeing a doctor at all. I was scheduled for a follow-up visit in one week and was happy to return. However, at the follow-up visit, I discovered that the fee would be $203. I was never given any itemize documentation for what any charges covered. But what choice did I have? You can't exactly go shopping around for follow-up care without having to pay for a new place's initial care fees. The follow-up was with a different PA, who was also very nice. She spent 10-15 minutes with me and did her evaluation. She told me to go home and wear the sling for another week and then come back for another follow-up. That was it. A routine PA visit for a person with insurance earns the company around $115. If I had Medicare, it would be around $80. Every follow-up at DOC for uninsured patients is $203. It's like they get you in the door and make you happy, then gouge you.

Yesterday May 14th I finally had my hip arthroscopy for a torn labrum and FAI. Dr. H has been amazing through this whole process. He has listened to me. He encouraged me try non-invasive treatments first including Injections, physical therapy, weight training which gave me 4 additional years of use after the injury. We went year by year and month by month and eventually decided given the pain and the work I had done without enough improvement that ultimately surgery would be the best option . Dr H is always cool, level headed , explains things , listens and doesn't rush. You decided together a plan of care and he follows thru. On referrals etc. My surgery went amazing yesterday. My pain is well controlled and I am well on my way to recovery thanks to Dr . H and truly his whole staff. The office ladies have been amazing !!! Jessica who schedules the surgeries, Briana and Gina, who answered my multiple text messages. And got issues figure out for me quickly. Dr. H's nurse (I am not remembering her name) is always so kind and down to earth. The sweet ladies who answer the phone and you check in and out are great also. Truly I have had a great experience in a not great situation and I am thankful for my medical team at all star orthopedics and would recommend them to anyone. Side note all star was referred to me by a 30 year old friend of mine that had double hip replacements and loved their experience also !!
