Resell store for art supplies- think of it like a Hobby Lobby meets quirky Orange Show home decor with a side of Sanford & Son...it's a little bit of a time capsule seeing old but still good and usable supplies (1980's People magazines, black & white family photos, etc) There's a section of basic school supplies that are free for teachers. Most supplies are charged about $1 per pound. Very well worth going if you need things for art projects. Great place just to even explore.

LOVE THIS PLACE! If you are into hunting for treasures and taking your time then this place is for you! I make earrings so I love their small/random bead collections and supplies for jewelry!

best place in the world for crafters, there's so much stuff and it's so insanely cheap. i got 2 hobby lobby scrapbook paper books that said $9 on them for 25 cents each and they are huge

Decided to stop by the Texas Art Asylum after being recommended to me by Heather McCarty with Conception Arts. I definitely felt like a kid in a candy store! So many awesome and creative things. I even met this awesome cat. He was super friendly! Unfortunately, he was the nicest thing there. I walked in and wasn't greeted. I had a couple of staffers just look at me. Def a weird vibe. I felt like I was an annoyance more than a customer. After walking around for about 20 mins I picked out a.l few items and took them to the counter. The apathetic attitude continued there. With me being one of the most creative photographers in the State I was super hyped to come here but left sooooo disappointed. It costs you nothing to be friendly. It costs you nothing to say hello. Ask if someone needs help or just welcome them. This was my first time and probably the last. Basic civility will bring customers back. This truly sucked because there was so much amazing stuff I could use to create. I went back in to get an item I forgot and also get my receipt from the first transaction. It wasn't given to me. Thank you to Jazz for being the only person who said hello, smiled and made me feel like a person. I appreciate you.

I love coming here to find a variety of unique items. You can find all sorts of things here, including: old toys and dolls, jewelry, art supplies, fabric, old photos, etc. This is a great place to come if you are an artist and are looking for items for your practice, or if you're just looking for some unique jewelry/clothes. Some things are priced individually, but the majority of things are sold by the pound. There are a couple of cats that hang out here, so if you're allergic, this might not be the place for you. They also occasionally host art shows, which are fun to check out.

I love this place. I always come here. I love looking through the stuffs they have. I always find something interesting or fun. I also love the fact that they have a container full of wine corks because I've looked everywhere for those for a home decoration project I was doing. They also have art shows. I loved the Harry Potter, and the tiny art show. They are having the Studio Ghibli art show this weekend and I AM GOING. I wish they'd have an anime art show though. I bet people will love that

The fact that they seriously expected me to remove my mask exposing me to a potential virus! the hypocrisy is beyond me.

Super quirky finds. Lose yourself in clutter and come out with a new craft project. And make sure you pet the cats!

I was in the area for my birthday and she gave us suggestions on what else we could get into while we were there. They also had shoes, hello kitty and larger bears to paint. The process is very personal so that took some getting used to but I found that to be the most enjoyable about it. You get one hour to decorate your bear and if you're local you have a few days to pick it up once it dries. Our bears were $85 and shipping was $15. The delivery was smooth and my baby made it to me without any issues. I named her Fern :-). I'd definitely recommend this as a fun activity that's not liquor or food focused. Parking was a bit hectic but we were able to find something right outside. The area itself is walkable with lots of shops and places to eat surrounding it also.

It was hard for a group of Type A's to pour paint everywhere and make a mess, to get to your final piece, but we pushed through (lol) and loved our creations. And the staff was amazing. We had a lot of fun and would highly recommend it as a girls outing, team event or for a fun date.

I've been wanting to go here for months and am so glad I finally had the opportunity!!…read more I went with my family on a Friday afternoon. We booked the 45 minute candle-making class not realizing there was a difference between it and the regular 2 hour long class. Trust me - there's a big difference! We realized we weren't going to figure out another time to do the longer class, so we doubled down on the 45 minutes. We really enjoyed picking out our vessels and scents for the candles. During the 45 minute class you get access to some but not all of the available scents. We enjoyed the mixing and matching and I settled on a couple floral combos for my candles. I like that they list different categories of scents that tend to go better together. Next, you measure out the scents to mix with your wax. Our chandlers did a lot of the heavy lifting (heating the wax and stirring) for us as we had our hands full. Finally, we poured out our wax and cleaned up! We were able to pick up our candles the next day and I've enjoyed the smells throughout my apartment SO much since then. I learned so much about candle care too. I even stopped by a few days later - they sell DIY kits for candles, soaps, and even bath bombs, which I got as a Christmas gift for a family member! I love that they encourage you to save your vessel to reuse at another class to make a new candle - I will certainly be doing that. They're pretty easy to access with free parking in rice village garages for 2 hours. I can't wait till next time I visit!

My husband is and honorably discharged Marine who started in the Navy and he is always open to me bragging him to new cultural events thank goodness! I booked this for our anniversary and was very shocked that my awesome husband was so dedicated and involved in the instruction given by our Love & Make teacher, Kim I. Kim I was very professional, informative, and such a pleasure to work with. We also greatly appreciate her patience with two old people who showed up for this event! Our class was full and while we didn't have time to meet the other participants and would have liked to, it was interesting to overhear their comments while they were celebrating their own milestones in life. The value for this class is five star!
