The people were very nice and welcoming and the event was well organized and communication was excellent! The venue was the best I've experienced any where. I've attended a lot of workshops and classes and gir in instructions and demos all students are usually tightly clustered around the presenter trying to get a view of what is happening. Even though I'm a taller person I'm usually unsuccessful and find myself craning my neck and bobbing around as those in front adjust their positions. Very frustrating! But not here!!! You have the option to do that or you can stay at your OWN 6 foot table and watch one of the 3 huge screens the demonstrator is projected upon. There's a W-ASH person managing the camera zooming in and out on the work or the pallet and sometime both. It works really well. And if there's a new tool involved sometimes the artist will demonstrate for fewer people again and again. The space is truly amazing. Parking was easily had on the street. Note: the elevator is out but is being worked in. The workshop is up one flight of stairs. oh.... and downstairs! there's a gallery showcasing watercolor works and there's a sales area too. Great place! so glad I took the effort to get there! And my work from the workshop didn't turn out too bad either! I hope to go back!

Sure, there are a couple really good artists that display, and sell, their art there, but the real genius to this place is the "Melrose Place" vibe you get. First, there are several people living there. They are supposed to be artists but are really just young, desperate girls, living cheaply. One is a Cam Girl for people with food fetishes. One reads cards and makes oils. Finally, one is supposed to be a photographer but I never saw a camera, just a bed in her small space. She was always quite moody, with an obnoxious voice, and many times would yell out to turn the lights off because she was sleeping....at 9am. The Management, Hans specifically, is a little shady in my opinion. They will vote people "off the island" if you disagree with them. Irina is nice enough but gets strong-armed by Hans. They have a contingent of non-Americans that do their best to keep things clean. The A/C doesn't cool and the kitchen smell like mold and sweaty corn-hole. The bathrooms are ok, especially if you are ok with pubes from the "shower" restroom. Ewwww The hair stylist, tattoo artist and toddler toy maker are all really great gals, with legitimate businesses. The rest are funny, and keep the drama level high. The property is definitely 420 friendly!

This venue appeared, and I purchased the tickets and it did not disappoint. The warehouse was a perfect place for them to put on this production. The director did such a fine job and apparently they do this all the time with lawyers playing the cast to tell the story. You have got to see this next summer for sure. Homemade sangria and chips in hand :) The event was pretty much started on time and wrapped up right at the 2 hour mark. Our instructor was nice however we could not hear him over the music (asked a couple times to speak louder) but eventually we just did the best with what we could see visually lol. I like that the classes are relatively small-medium ish. I think there was roughly 12 or so people in attendance. My friend did a fabulous job (hers in on left) and I'd give myself an A for effort! I discovered this family run studio conveniently located in Montrose last July and I'm so pleased…read morethat I did. I started out in the beginner class with no previous experience and quickly learned the basics. The beginner class is a reasonable $170 for a 5 week session and you can count on coming home with 6+ pieces. Your final class will be a potluck, work reveal and Raku firing. John and Judy allowed me to take the beginner class for a few sessions until I was confident enough to move forward to the intermediate. I'm currently taking 3 month intermediate sessions with the option of extra studio time on Saturdays for $5. I love to come to class and unwind on Monday nights after a long day; playing with clay is really a form of therapy. The owners are there to assist you hands-on and help you achieve the best result (as are some of your classmates that have been students here for many years). John and Judy often have a different approach to their craft, which is beneficial in that you're exposed to more than one perspective and technique. The best advice that I can give is to eliminate your expectations. Almost every piece you make will look different than you envisioned, but you'll learn to love the unpredictability.

I doubt we gave off a "serious collector willing to drop a few thousand on a piece of art" vibe however we received a very warm welcome and lots of information on the gallery and the featured artists. I don't recall the name of the gentleman we spoke with but he was very friendly and engaging. I really enjoyed the art and felt it was really well-curated. A lot of different pieces in various styles. There are no prices listed so I think you'd have to inquire. I believe we were told that they start at a few thousand. Parking available outside.
