I recently moved to a new location and while my new apartment had washer and dryer hookups it did not have the units. So, I set about trying to find cheap, but reliable replacement appliances and after a bit of searching I stumbled upon Houston Appliances via google. At first it seemed a bit too good to be true. A 3 year warranty on a rebuilt and recertified that were over half off of similar retail machines - AND they would deliver. I figured for $400 plus delivery and tax I'd give them a shot. I'm so glad I did. They came out the very next day with all the fittings required to install my new appliances and even cautioned me on a problem with my hot water for the washer! The man doing the installations was really nice and efficient completing the job in record time. So far the washer and dryer have been going strong for almost two weeks with no problems. I haven't had a service call yet so I can't rate that part of them, but judging on their installation time I'd bet it's pretty good as well. I highly recommend these people if you need a cheap washer and dryer. It's a lot better than craigslist! read more

Beware of this store....they try heavily to push Progressive financing on you for your furniture purchase. Upon purchase of furniture they claim that under no circumstance are they liable to accept a return claiming that the furniture is now owned by Progressive and not them. The salesperson in store said the return policy is whatever Brent, the owner, says. Brent stated after the request for the return that the store has a no return policy. Good thing that policy is stated no where, not in the store, not on a receipt, not on their website. My girlfriend recently bought a mattress and adjustable bed frame from the company. They claimed endlessly about how the bed and frame would do wonders for her back problems. Initially the bed worked out fine, but after two weeks the bed was severely hurting her back. When she talked with AFW asking to return the deficient product, they claimed that they no longer owned the product and that instead of going through them for a return it would be up to the finance company to accept the return. Obviously the finance company said they were not in the furniture business and that they would only accept a return as directed by the company selling the product. The owners wife had the gaul to say that my girlfriend could stop making payments and ruin her credit as a means to return the product through the finance company. After researching the company, AFW, it seems there have been multiple furniture stores operating out of the same address in Katy. It could be their MO to screw over customers for a period of time and then simply change their name offering the same products always claiming a new grand opening sale. Just take a look at their storefront. The sign above the business says it all, a temporary cloth sign they can easily change out when it no longer suits them. If I could give zero stars I would have, this company is so disorganized it's unbelievable. We first bought a washer from here in February 2014. Getting that was one of the biggest hassles we have ever experienced. There was a definite lack of communication on their side, but alas the washer was finally delivered. In August of 2014 we needed a new dryer and decided to give them a second try based on other reviews. This time things went more smoothly, we even showed the delivery person the washer to show him a problem we had been having. He told us what he thought was wrong but didn't have the part to fix it. We immediately emailed the company, got one response asking some questions, I replied promptly and never heard back. My fiancé tried calling several times each time being told that they would return his call. Never happened. I emailed again and got a quick reply saying someone would be out to fixit that day. That was 12/31/14. Yes we've been trying to get this washer fixed for 5 months at this point! It's now 1/3/2015'and we still have a broken washer. Each day getting a call saying that "emergencies" came up and we would be rescheduled for the next day. I am beyond frustrated with this company. Good luck to you if you decide to use them. 1/08/2015 The saga continues. The repair never happened and the manager "Shane" was out sick so his "sister" was there and said the easier thing to do would be to just swap out the washer. We agreed and come the day to swap it out they want us to pay them. After they had agreed to and sent invoice showing that there would be no fee for the repair. After much back and forth this company we are still at square one. They are frauds, don't use them. read more

Been a customer for years, never had a complaint until TODAY... I had placed an order for a sofa recliner for my mother in law through the phone with a sales rep there she gave me item #'s and all so I can see the pictures of what each item looked like. When the recliner was then ordered and delivered it was the incorrect one, which apparently was an error in house on what they had item #'s too. I called and she ordered the proper one and they came to pick the one I did not order and delivered the one I did. I was told by the 3rd party delivery man that I had to pay the 2nd time delivery charge which I then told him it was not my fault that I will then call the store to let them know I would not be paying as it was not my fault they had to do another delivery. Well apparently nothing was resolved and now months later I called to place another order and they wanted me to pay the 3rd party delivery man. I spoke with the Manager Shane and he clearly did not want to even hear me out or even work another route to keep a long time customer. He raised his voice and said he will credit me back right away if I did not agree to pay the delivery man the $60 before the new order was delivered today. I don't think I was at fault for the furniture place to ask me the customer to pay for something that was clearly not my fault. I paid for my items and deliveries and the 2nd time error that was not my fault I should not had been even asked to pay. Will never return back to this place and will stop referring friends and family. Shame on you to not even want to listen to a customer and figure things out the proper way. read more

Shane went above and beyond delivering and installing my refrigerator! I love timely service and accurate communication! He delivered in the evening, in the rain, removed the front door, moved my couch to make way for the fridge, and never complained. A shelf was broken in delivery. He cleaned everything up, and ordered a new one with expedited shipping to my home. I am very pleasantly surprised at the level of service we received for the low price we paid! read more

BEWARE!!!!! I would give this place a negative number of stars if that was an option! They will take your money! They are crooks! My boyfriend and I bought a washer & dryer, refrigerator, and mattress from these people and wish we had never stepped foot in there! The refrigerator was overpriced in my opinion but we needed a counter depth refrigerator which are not cheap so I agreed to it. It did NOT work from the moment it was delivered. It made a noise from the moment we plugged it in that I had never heard a refrigerator make not to mention it never got under 50 degrees. It spoiled 300$ worth of food those first 2 days. I called them to tell them about it and they said they would have their delivery man come pick it up the next day. He did not show. He did not come until 7 or 8 pm the next night! I have 2 children that I was not able to feed the morning after the refrigerator was delivered because all my food was SPOILED! They took the refrigerator back and said they would repair it. It took OVER 2 weeks!!! When they returned it it did the EXACT SAME THING! It made the same noise and did not get under 50 degrees! We asked for a refund and it has been over 3 weeks now and 4 phone calls later and we still have NOT received our refund!!!! They also say they are not responsible for the food they spoiled! I understand not feeling u r responsible for the first 300 dollars worth of spoiled food but they sent back our "fixed" refrigerator knowing that they did nothing to fix it!!! I contacted this business to see if they repaired appliances, especially front loading washing machines. They stated that they did and would provide a free estimate for the repairs. I took the machine to them on a Friday. The following week I did not hear from them so I called and was told the technician was out and they would call me back. By Friday of that week I still did not hear anything from them, so I called again. Again, I was informed the technician was out and they would call me the following Monday. Monday comes and no phone call, so we call again and ask for a manager, who was out. Tuesday, I finally receive a call from them advising me the drum needed to be replaced but they could not do the work because they were behind on work and only had one technician. I asked what it would cost for the parts and they couldn't even give me that because "no one looked it up". Upon speaking to manager, he advised he had some family issues to deal with, which has nothing to do with servicing my appliance. It's been 10 days and I'm in the same situation I was in when I dropped off the machine. read more
