I was really excited to try this place because the inside was so cute! The enclosed patio area was super cool and I loved the secret door when you first walk in. The staff were fine, didn't go above and beyond or anything but were good. We ordered the queso and the elote to start off and the queso was DELISH. My favorite part of the whole experience. I got a pomelo spritz and it was very very tart. I ordered the birria taco and it was alright, i've had better birria and it was pretty greasy. I also tried the romaine empire taco and it was just fine. I wouldn't go again. It was just fine, nothing awful but nothing to make me go back again.

This place really surprised me, as a Texan! Visiting Chicago for the weekend + my boyfriend loves this spot for happy hour so he wanted to take me. The ambiance definitely gives Texas taco bar but I was shocked to not see a Texas flag anywhere!! (come on Illinois, we love our flag!) The food was pretty good for bar food. and played very well. I ordered a mediterranean taco and ehhmaagawd I should've ordered two. The nachos were fresh and girlllllll the drinks are definitely giving Texas taco bar, haha! I could barely finish my first one and had the audacity to order another one! Just know, we had a fun grocery shopping trip after, haha!

Cool place!! Somewhat hidden entrance by the host which was pretty cool. Dessert tacos are delicious. Definitely a must to visit during the summer months.

Came here after a failed reservation somewhere else due to them being closed. 2nd time here but was excited because I had never had their food. Upon walking in you get a cool speakeasy experience where you enter a hidden door which is always a fun way to start out. As mentioned, no reservation, but we went on a Saturday right around 12pm so it was pretty empty. Our waitress was very friendly and she mentioned wanting a mojito so I went for one haha. It was so refreshing so I'm happy I did, but will say it wasn't boozy at all. The quezadizza was pretty tasty and great to share if you're not looking to spend too much and not starving. I do wish it had more meat and cheese on it though. The tortilla was the powerhouse of it all. The consome was not good to me and I'd recommend giving more lime slices. Overall solid quick brunch after a pilates class.

Really great atmosphere. The servers were nice and accommodating about the TVs, which games were on, and how we could best watch. The food was pretty below average, even for a bar. Small portions, just not that good.

Made a reservation here to start our happy hour hopping and I was pleasantly surprised! Staff were attentive and service was quick. We tried out a bunch of items from the happy hour menu. The prickly pear frozen margarita was a hit for our table. The pizza quesadilla (blanking on the name) were amazing!! The bogo deal helped fill us up. My only complaints are, man was it hot lol, I didn't realize it was a rooftop kinda situation and there weren't any fans, at least I didn't notice any. It took a little minute to cool down, but eventually it was fine.

Came here for happy hour and got seated right away. It was crowded but still great. The music and volume in the bar can get a little loud but the ambiance was so fun. The food was amazing. We had a couple taco and appetizers and drinks. The drinks are strong but so good. We had the prickly pear margaritas and mango habanero which was spicy the strawberry margaritas was so good and delicious. Loved the shrimp taco which was crunchy and filled with flavors. The nacho bits were a little different but still good. Recommend coming here early for happy hours and the drinks were amazing!

Ambiance - went out with my team for lunch, we were on the second floor, pretty open area, huge bar in the middle Service - was a bit slow, only 1 server, and took a while to get her attention Food - great uno-dos-tres lunch special, quesabirria tacos were a bit dry even with the sauce to dip in

The tacos were pretty standard here, nothing out of the ordinary but pretty good. I think they're better known for their drinks. It's a cute spot for going out otherwise and location is pretty good in west loop

(G)o or no go - GOoO! This is the HOTTESt rooftop bar in West Loop for summer 2024! You can hear this rooftop from ANY restaurant in West Loop..also very cool to enter through that secret entrance hidden behind a fridge (W)ow - You'll be drunk off the ambiance alone. Plus it's loud and rowdy - so the people watching is part of the fun. (A)ge- mid to late 20s and 30s. Surprisingly some corporate groups after 9pm. Guess it's a happy hour spot for the tech companies in the area - looking at you Google (M)enu - The nacho bites come drenched in cheese and LOADED with brisket. To that effect, the nachos were a little soggy but still solid and protein heavy. As for the tacos - the honey hot chicken taco was clearly the king of the platter. Spicy with just a hint of sweet! Scrumptious

Had a great time at our first visit to Texan Taco Bar. We had friends visiting from out of town and thought this would be a fun spot to venture to. We were correct! We walked in with no reservation and were seated immediately and ordered a lime margarita pitcher, charred skirt steak quesadizza, a taco plate, and the Texan burrito. Everyone was very pleased with their food. My favorite was the quesadizza. It's a fun spot to meet up with friends on a Saturday, we watched March Madness and enjoyed the sunshine through the sunroof. Thank you Texan Taco Bar!

They truly go above and beyond to make sure they deliver great customer service. They'll do little things like offer you a free taco of their Birria while you wait for your food. Go to any market in Mexico and they'll treat you the exact same. Unfortunately for them their original Southside location is closed due to a fire but they'll be back hopefully soon! My son and daughter both ordered their Birria Tacos, my wife ordered their Quesabirria tacos and I ordered their Tazon Chico of their carnaza Birria of course. It also came with a side of their handmade tortillas. Everything tasted so fresh and the Birria was very delicious. So much flavor in the consome. Ordering the tazon is definitely they way to go here because you get the meat in the consome. But if you wanted meat only, you have the option of ordering their plato instead. Regardless of what you order here, you won't go wrong. Enjoy!

Despite their well-earned fame, this spot keeps the humble, hole-in-the-wall energy intact, small, unpretentious, and staffed by some genuinely warm and welcoming people. Pop in, grab a seat, and let them do the rest. My fiancé and I shared the quesabirria combo, two quesabirrias with consomé, a Mexican Coke, and a Jamaica, and honestly, everything was amazing. The Jamaica alone deserves its own shoutout: perfectly balanced, not too bitter, not too sweet, and exactly what you need to cut through the heat of the food. The tacos came out piping hot, prepped right in front of us, loaded with cheese and packed with flavor. The consomé was warming, rich, and perfectly spiced, the kind of broth that makes you want to tip the bowl. And the accompaniments (onion, cilantro, peppers, lime, and salsa) give you full control to doctor things up to your liking. For spice lovers, this setup is a dream. My one gripe, and the sole reason I'm docking a star, is the price. At around $30 for two tacos, a consomé, and drinks, it's a tough pill to swallow. As a Mexican American, there's something about that price point that pulls me slightly out of the authentic experience I was hoping for. I fully respect the craft and passion behind this food, but it's worth noting. That said? Don't let it stop you. This food is incredible, and I'll absolutely be back.

Really awesome space at a crowded downtown location. Foods were served on nice metal holders or disposable/environmentally friendly containers and utensils. The tacos were huge, and I love that they focus on the variety of vegetables on the taco, which is often overlooked at other places. Veggies also make the taco look beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the tikka paneer, the paneer was soft for paneer but firmer than tofu, a really great texture. And the flavor wasn't overpowering. The tikka sauce was light, which I am totally fine with. The chicken quesadilla was also made well and of good value, the kids all really liked it. The salmon was good too but didn't really stand out as much, but appreciate the variety veggies on top! The mexi-Cali shrimp bowl was not bad either, but also didn't stand out much. The shrimp was good but I prefer it cooked even lighter if possible. Flavor was good tho. The rice was long grain, which I prefer, but they do give quite a lot, I ended up having quite a lot leftover. I wish the had a bit more cilantro or other herby mix to increase the depth of flavor, but overall still pretty good. Queso was also really good, thick and creamy, not too salty, but sadly the kids didn't like it as much. Husband also liked the gochujang pork a lot, said it was actually really really good. Overall, we really enjoyed everything we had there. Love that they also had paper towels everywhere. My preferred method of keeping clean haha. Will definitely come back.
