A year ago…read morethis was a beautiful new store with new pumps that had soapy water to clean windshields and towels to dry off with sanitizer for your hands. The inside was pristine. I walked in to water on the floor by the soda fountain which was closed I guess due to the water on the floor. I walked around the puddle thinking someone should clean that up to prevent folks from slipping and to keep the spread of water to a minimum. There were three employees at the registers and one by the drink coolers so they did have more than two employees in the store. The great news is the outdoor printers worked at the gas pump! It was very crowded inside and outside. Be careful walking in the parking lot.

So I decided to fill up the gas tank as well. Employees were super friendly. I was able to quickly find the items I needed along with a couple of impulse purchases. That alone was worth the stop, but the rest of the experience was less than expected. By the pumps, there are no windshield washer squeegees anywhere, so you cannot clean the bugs off of your windshield. The pay-at-the-pump interface was frustrating. It would not accept my Discover card. I used my Visa, and it locked into selling me only 15 gallons. The only great part of the refueling experience was the price and the zero wait for a pump because they have so many of them. Also, this location has a car wash, and the purchase option was imbedded in the gas purchase--I didn't want it, but accidentally got it. I guess that would be one way to clean the windows, but be aware as you're trying to buy gas. Inside: The inside is huge. It's like someone took a Walmart and placed restrooms and food kiosks in the center of it. The women's bathroom was awesomely clean. It's huge with individual doored stall-rooms along the walls with green (open) and red (busy) lights above the door, so you can quickly find a stall that's open. The entire center of the bathroom is full of sinks/soap/paper towels. It was spotlessly clean and the highlight of the whole experience. Food: Having seen another Yelp review, we got 2 XXL BBQ Brisket sandwiches and Buc-ee's chips and 2 $0.99 fountain drinks. We also picked up a small bag of chocolate covered pretzels. That lunch cost us $41, and there was nowhere to sit to eat it. The expectation is that you go back out to your car to eat. After being in the car for 6 hours, I didn't want to eat in the car, so we found a lamppost in the shade that we used as a "table" and stood to eat. Service: Everyone working at this location was helpful and friendly, so the service is great. Recommendation: If you are looking for a clean bathroom and cheaper gas--this is an awesome place to stop!! Of course, the cheaper gas price is how they draw you in, then they make up the loss in inside sales, especially food. There are many food choices, which is also good, as long as you intend to eat in the car. If you get the BBQ sandwich, I would get the one without the sauce.

I couldnt hear him correctly and asked him about 10 times to repeat himself because all I saw was a random stranger holding his throat trying speaking words i couldnt understand. I didnt know he was an employee until after I understood him yet he still threatened to call the cops on me. Hes obviously stressed out but this was my worst experience after 5-6 years religiously coming to this store. He probably doesnt have to trauma dump that he has cancer after i told him i dont understand him he just turned red and started yelling at me louder... as best as he could . Sucks he has cancer but you cant treat customers like that especially if you can barely talk and without a uniform. Definitely needs to stay out of customer service if he cant talk.

It was a bonus that Huntsville Police would drive by and visit/check on us girls while we worked. Morning shift started at 6 AM and the store closed at 10 PM. We had to manually read and log the numbers from each gas pump, and it was nice to have the Police around during pump reading time right at closing. This Shell location was one of approximately 12 that we girls rotated working at, and they all had the same set up (bullet-proof glass, a slide out drawer for payment transactions, a safe in the floor, a back room full of cigarettes to keep the front cigarette area stocked, and a tiny restroom. Growing up around the corner on Holmes Avenue, I was happy this gas station "grew up" to be a full-service convenience store. It's located on the southwest side of the very busy intersection of University Drive and Jordan Lane.
