Went here for the lore of it all. This place is huge. Is it a gas station or a grocery store or a mall? The answer is yes. Their marketing is too notch, I don't think it's possible to walk out of there without some sort of souvenir. It's well lit. They have Buc-ee's children's books, Buc-ee's swimsuits, Buc-ee's everything. I walked out with an assortment box of fudge, cotton candy-watermelon,strawberry banana, and regular. Watermelon one taste like it was made with the baby bottle pop watermelon dip power-amazing. The strawberry banana actually tasted like individual flavors coming together the banana flavor imitated the banana laffy taffy I was impressed, and they were like only $2. They have rock candy suckers here! You don't see those everywhere, they feel like a cannon event. I noticed they have a huge deli Jekry style. A whole bakery fudge style. And the people that work there in cowboy hats which I thought was really cute. Was it worth the hype? Sure. Be prepared to spend at least an hour on your port break during a road trip. The view at the pump is beautiful as are most views in Tennessee. Saw some things I've never seen before even in the checkout line, energy packs that look like zyns. This is my first and possibly last Bucee's experience. Outside: YES--Cheapest gas--a full $0.70 cheaper than any other stations along the highway!!! That alone was worth the stop, but the rest of the experience was less than expected. By the pumps, there are no windshield washer squeegees anywhere, so you cannot clean the bugs off of your windshield. The pay-at-the-pump interface was frustrating. It would not accept my Discover card. I used my Visa, and it locked into selling me only 15 gallons. The only great part of the refueling experience was the price and the zero wait for a pump because they have so many of them. Also, this location has a car wash, and the purchase option was imbedded in the gas purchase--I didn't want it, but accidentally got it. I guess that would be one way to clean the windows, but be aware as you're trying to buy gas. Inside: The inside is huge. It's like someone took a Walmart and placed restrooms and food kiosks in the center of it. The women's bathroom was awesomely clean. It's huge with individual doored stall-rooms along the walls with green (open) and red (busy) lights above the door, so you can quickly find a stall that's open. The entire center of the bathroom is full of sinks/soap/paper towels. It was spotlessly clean and the highlight of the whole experience. Food: Having seen another Yelp review, we got 2 XXL BBQ Brisket sandwiches and Buc-ee's chips and 2 $0.99 fountain drinks. We also picked up a small bag of chocolate covered pretzels. That lunch cost us $41, and there was nowhere to sit to eat it. The expectation is that you go back out to your car to eat. After being in the car for 6 hours, I didn't want to eat in the car, so we found a lamppost in the shade that we used as a "table" and stood to eat. Service: Everyone working at this location was helpful and friendly, so the service is great. Recommendation: If you are looking for a clean bathroom and cheaper gas--this is an awesome place to stop!! Of course, the cheaper gas price is how they draw you in, then they make up the loss in inside sales, especially food. There are many food choices, which is also good, as long as you intend to eat in the car. If you get the BBQ sandwich, I would get the one without the sauce. read more

Very happy to find this Buc-ee's location when traveling through on 1-65. We had planned to stop for a quick break and a snack, but I noticed that the gas price was the cheapest we had seen on our trip. So I decided to fill up the gas tank as well. Looking for a reason to go to Alabama, this Buc-ee's served as a solid destination. It's like any other Buc-ee's but what I'll praise this one for is the quality of food. Having been to others in the past, this one's brisket was overwhelmingly greasy. The bathrooms are as clean and spacious as any other location and the checkout times were almost immediate. I wasn't knowing about Buc ee's, but my daughter was hell bent on going since we were already down south, so we diverted our path a little. What an experience. I just thought it was a gas station but oh was I wrong. Sheer pandemonium! Singing, cooking, shipping & a huge car wash. The bathrooms are like those parking structures that tells you what stalls are empty and which ones are occupied. These guys are known for their delicious barbecue, they're fantastic tortillas and fajitas, and tasty candies. Every time we stop here we got to get something , and the price for gas is just right. The only problem we have is that people leave their cars parked at the gas station. I always love stopping at Buc-ee's, and the Athens, Alabama location did not disappoint. This time I tried their pulled pork mac and cheese and wow... it was so good. The mac was creamy, the pulled pork was flavorful, and grabbing a cup of their BBQ sauce took it to the next level. Buc-ee's is always clean, fast, and stocked with everything you could possibly want for a road trip, but the food alone makes it worth the stop. This car stops at all Buc-ees. Even it's for gas and a bathroom break. Gas was $2.49 but if you got the works car wash they take $1.00 off gas. Car wash was $16.00 so actually we paid $4.00for it. It took 5 minutes to go through it. It does a good job soap 3 different times and brushes rinse, and wax and dry. You can also get the tire cleaner and the vacuum for free. Also, there's a machine that does your mats. Also a brush for them darn bugs. That was all at the Athens, Alabama location. No food this time but I did get a wine tag that that I'm going to use for a Christmas ornament. I think the quality of the food and merchandise is outstanding. read more

What do you come to Buc-ee's for? Here is my ranked list of Why: 1. Clean bathrooms. Simply put. Always a stall open, always TP, much cleaner than surrounding gas station bathrooms. 2. Kitsch. It's kitschy, you come here to buy something with the strange beaver logo, prolong an already long road trip, giggle about the "wine mom" dish towels, dissociate in an aisle of baby swimsuits, etc.. 3. Food options for everybody. Barbeque, burritos, chicken sandwiches, banana pudding, candy, chips, hot nuts. They serve up some good food here. Hard to argue. What's next? Sushi? 4. Last minute hostess gifts. Every time I drive up to Nashville, I stop and get a bag of the beaver nuggets. I love the Buc ee's car wash!! If you buy the wash while pumping gas, it is $1 less per gallon. The car wash is currently $16, BUT, it's the size of 4 or 5 car washes together and my car ends up spotless. It's a great value for the money. I recommend you get some gas, park the car, use the restroom, then get a soft drink or coffee drink to carry while you shop. Do your shopping, refill your drink, grab some food to go, then pay. We stopped at Bucees in Athens on the way home from Nashville to see what all the hype is about. First of all, I would love to meet their original marketing team because they have established a brand that it seems like the entire south knows about and worships! Second of all, this place is like a city in the middle of no where. I question what makes it any different than a Loves or Flying J? To me, when I'm on a roadtrip, any mega gas station where I can get gas, a snack and use the restroom will do. There were hundreds of people there when we went, but even with hundreds of people the place was clean, and we were able to get gas and grab our snacks quickly. My family has always enjoyed stopping at Buc-ee's, which makes what happened at the Athens location incredibly disappointing. My daughter smashed her finger in the restroom. I went to the counter and asked an employee for a cup of ice for her finger. The response was simply, "No." I then asked another employee for ice and explained that my daughter had injured herself in their restroom. I was told I would need to complete an incident report first. I have no issue with an incident report. I understand why businesses document injuries. But when a parent is standing in front of you asking for ice for an injured child, the appropriate response is: "Absolutely. Let's get her some ice, and then we'll document what happened." Instead, paperwork apparently came before helping the kid. I became frustrated, walked outside, and took a minute before coming back in. I returned intending to complete the report and loudly asked who I needed to speak with about an incident report. Suddenly, the cup of ice I had been asking for was immediately rung up and handed to me. At that point, I was angry enough that I declined the report and left. I work in management and routinely handle guest incidents. I understand procedures, documentation, and protecting a business from liability. I also understand hospitality. Nobody needed to accept responsibility. Nobody needed to make promises. Nobody needed to break some complicated company policy. My kid needed a cup of ice. If your procedure makes employees believe an incident report needs to come before that, the procedure needs fixing. If that isn't your procedure, then the training at this location needs fixing. Buc-ee's has built an enormous reputation around hospitality and customer service. This experience fell embarrassingly short of it. read more

Not only are the employees very helpful and kind, but I have never seen this place dirty. Considering the amount of people that come through everyday Bucees is not only a gas station mogul but an anomaly. They always have many items stocked and cooked fresh and of course we can't forget about the gas pumps. The only complaint... yes I said complaint, oof, is their coffee... no bueno. I have gotten it on multiple occasions and it does not hit. My husband and I stopped by here and ended up purchasing a few things that includes: Chunk Brisket Sandwich, $12.99- Although more expensive than some of the other barbecue sandwiches, this one was so tender and flavorful. And this sandwich does not skimp on the meat. There is also plenty of barbecue but I wouldn't say it was so much that I couldn't taste the meat. I felt that the bun was perfect in holding up to the filling too. Bucee's Nugee's, $3.98 prior to tax- I got the white cheddar flavor and love these snacks. They remind me of cheese curds. Bucee's Pretzel Garlic Parmesan, $2.98 prior to tax- I haven't opened these to try them yet and am deciding whether I should bring them back home in Los Angeles for family to try or not. Pet shirt, $9.98 prior to tax. Shown is size medium- There is both a red and black shirt that is available in the pet section. There are also sweaters as well. But based on the size (please note that the sizing on the sizing chart is way off), we ended up purchasing a black shirt since this was the only one available in medium. The shirt if 65% polyester and the rest is cotton (it washes well too and hasn't shrunk). The shirt itself is pretty thin though, just for those curious. Cinnamon Roll, $3.49 prior to tax- Sadly we didn't get to try this because my husband got water all over it in our cooler and had to toss it :( But the size of the cinnamon is huge and the price is pretty affordable. Gasoline for the car Service was very friendly at the register. Please note that if you pay with a gift card for the gasoline, you have to go inside since the card reader does not take gift cards. When you do go inside, you have to let the employee know how much you want to put on the gift card. And if you use less than what you told the employee, then you will have to wait until the hold is done before you can spend the rest of the remaining gift card money. That is what happened to us and the employee told us that the hold can be 10 minutes to a few hours. He said it just depends on the system (which wasn't a problem with us since we still have plans to visit another Bucee's in the near future to use up the rest of my gift card funds). Overall, another great and positive visit at Bucee's and will continue visiting Bucee's when I am visiting a state that has one. read more

The fudge was delicious. Bathrooms are very clean. On the way home we decided to try the car wash. You get a discount on gas if you buy a car wash. The car wash was impressive! Just a few weeks ago I had never been to a Buc ee's! I ended up stopped here going/coming from the Gulf Coast. My friend had never been to one so of course it was a must stop! The 100 gas pumps always blows my mind. It was a little hectic at the pumps but I muddled through. Just remember where you park because the store is so huge.
