Decemeber Nightmare…read more...... Tim Powers White Toyota Tundra..........Lexdan's staff covered up the paint problems....... The Facts are in! Red Flag & Run!! Not Recommended!!! True Story Here!!!! Lying Lexdan is the most deceitful Company I have ever bought from. From the salesman-James, to the Mng. Scott and all the way up to the Owner Dennis K........what a run around & Joke!!! No call backs and consistently pushed me off for weeks/months at a time! Even the Owner Dennis that replys to these complaints would not call or talk to me to fix this problem. Starts at the top folks, Crooked! Can't wait to see what Dennis says about this posting and it is my First time ever Buying a vehicle out of state and posting on Google......for the records!! Come Clean Dennis and make it Right!! I drove back home 5 hrs. and called Scott the next morning with my Tundra's paint problem after all the ice and snow melted off. When I showed up to buy it in the morning it was covered across the hood, windshield & cab with ice & light snow/frost late December....this is a White Truck, so it was solid white.....not a big deal, I test drove it, discussed any problems with Scott the Mng.......and he said it's clean and no problems and did not have a salvage title or nothing else. Now this truck is a 2016 with 12K miles; appears to be in mint condition, except for the ice cover up on the hood/cab area!! So, I took the truck to my local auto shop and they informed me that this has been repainted all around the truck to cover rust up and other things..........So the Mint Turck is showing problems right off the bat and No Call backs from Dennis and his Staff........remember it comes from the Top Down........Pathetic, wish I could have been one of the Happy Customers.........Dennis & Staff knew this trucks problems because I found out later the previous owner, a Car Dealership bought this truck at an Auction and returned it because of all the paint problems and put it up for Arbitration and then Lexdan-Dennis bought it and unloaded his problem on to me.......Dennis and your staff......the Big Guy Up Above will have the final say with you all........Amen to that!! Dennis, if you want to make this right you have my number, call me and pay for the job that you should have completed the right way in the git go.......Amen!! I've had months of calls with dealerships, auto-body shops, attorneys' and what should have been a Great Experience is one of thee Worst Experience Ever for me!! Thanks Lexdan Automotive, of Mapelwood, MN for 3-4 months of Hell.......

Disappointed and Angry - In May of this year (2025), I…read morepurchased a 2018 Honda Odyssey from Lexdan Automotive of Maplewood, MN. It only had 51,000 miles. The salesman was friendly and helpful. At the time, he was busy helping three different customers purchase a vehicle, but he still gave us the attention we needed to buy the Odyssey. When I asked the salesman if the vehicle had been in any accidents, he told me it had a clear title. His answer was accurate but that is not what I asked. The vehicle had been in an accident, and he did not reveal that to me. I asked him how many owners and he said it had a couple with one being in Montana and the other in Washington DC. The truth is that it had 4 owners before me. I asked the salesman for a Carfax and he said he would print one out. I failed to secure that prior to signing on the line for purchase. Had I seen the Carfax, I would not have ever purchased the vehicle. (Yes, my fault for not demanding the Carfax but, nonetheless, I was deceived.) Immediately after the purchase, I began to hear a noise in the engine. I thought it was A/C related. Since I had purchased an extended warranty from Lexdan, I took the vehicle to my local mechanic. Once he had the van on his hoist, he called me to come to the shop. He showed me where the vehicle had been in an accident. He showed me welded spots that had been spray painted (but were already rusting). He showed me new bolts for the motor mounts that had been replaced and a wiring harness to the alternator that had been cut and rewired without the harness. There had been some fabrication of metal and welding done by the radiator and repainted. The salesman told me the van had two new tires on the rear of the vehicle, but my mechanic showed me the "checking" on those tires which suggested they were definitely not new. I asked my mechanic to check the transmission fluid, and it was black and smelled burned. So far, I have paid for new tires, a front-end alignment, a transmission flush, an alternator harness, and repair to the protection shields under the vehicle. My mechanic is still trying to get to the bottom of the a/c noise. (He is thinking it is motor mount related.) Not sure what all that will cost me. Once he finally diagnoses the problem, I am hoping the extended warranty will help with the cost. I have already put a lot of money into the vehicle Lexdan sold me with clear lies involved. When my mechanic showed me the damage under the vehicle, I called Lexdan and asked for the Carfax. It took me 4 different calls or texts to get that information. The report told me about the accident and that I was the fifth owner. Lexdan gave me a 30 day - 1000-mile warranty with the vehicle. I had exceeded those limits by the time I took the vehicle to the mechanic. Lexdan's Sales Manager called me and offered to bring the vehicle to their shop for their mechanic to examine and perform service work. Since I have a very capable mechanic near my home (2-hour drive from Lexdan Automotive) I have no intention of allowing Lexdan to have another chance to deceive me or take more money. I paid over $32,500 for the vehicle including vehicle price, warranty, tax, and fees. Lexdan will NOT get another penny of my money, and I strongly advise that others consider the same. I have never been a vindictive person. I am a retired Pastor and love to treat people with respect. I have never written a negative review. I have written several good reviews for people who have treated me with respect and kindness. Due to all that Lexdan has done, I am writing this review to tell people how I have been treated.

They assured me they do thorough inspections and would never sell a car with issues. I was also told repeatedly the car had no issues. I was shown the CarFax. Considering it was a luxury car dealership, I felt comfortable buying the car as is. A month later (after only being driven for about 12 days and a little over a 1,000), the check engine light came on and I learned it needed a new catalytic converter and had several leaks that needed repair. I brought the $8,600 estimate in to show the salesman. I only expected them to say, "wow, that's terrible. Let's see if there is anything we can do," or "let us take a look at it and see if we can repair it for cheaper," or "that's too bad, but that sometimes happens with new cars. How about a trade-in?" Instead, the salesperson immediately scurried away to get his 20-year-old manger, who shrugged and said, "how is that our problem?" Eventually, the GM, Jeremy Mertes came out, and said, "it's a used car, what would you expect if you bought this on Craigslist?" I looked around and had to remind him we were in a luxury car dealership. The GM said there was no way for them to know about the bad catalytic converter. I asked them if they scan their incoming cars. He said they scan all of the cars that come into their dealership and the ones that don't meet their standards go to auction and the good ones they sell. He said their records showed no issue with the catalytic converter. I asked him for a copy of the scan record. He then said they only use handheld scanners on non-Lexus vehicles and there is no record of the scan. I asked him to speak to the mechanic who conducted the scan, and he said, "that's not happening." He just kept saying it's not his problem, and never displayed any type of empathy or understanding. I finally just asked him if he'd buy the car back. He immediately said yes, jumped up, and came back with the same offer he claimed he made to the original owners. The whole thing gave me the sense that at best, they're incredibly sloppy with their inspections. At worst they're the worst type of car salesmen possible: fraudsters. I won't be going back, and would encourage you to find another more reputable business. It was a $5,800 lesson for me to always do an independent mechanic inspection when buying a car, even from a place that sells Lexus. Finally, don't buy a 2014 Volvo XC60 from them. It'll run you at least $8,600 in repairs. VIN YV4902DZ4E2544697 It's a lemon.

I purchased a vehicle at Schmelz Countryside VW in Nov 2025…read more I was contacted via phone by who I believe was the customer service team to schedule a time to bring in my trade in for evaluation and to then complete the purchase process. However, when I showed up to the dealership for the appointment, the sales team and technicians had no idea that I was scheduled to come in due to what I assume was a lack of internal communication. I was the at the dealership for 6 hours before I was able to complete the purchase, which was much longer than I expected (especially considering that I had been at the dealership two days before and had talked through things with a sales person - Ben was great to work with!). Later, while completing the finance paperwork, the Finance Manager, Jason S., made a comment that the owner of the dealership "is an asshole," which I found to be quite unprofessional and frankly just a bit of a bizarre thing to say. He also seemed like he really just wanted me to sign the papers and get out of there because it was a Friday afternoon. I purchased an extended warranty, but decided to cancel it a few weeks later within the refundable period. I submitted the cancellation form to Jason at the end of December, and he informed me it would take 4-6 weeks for Schmelz to receive the refund from the warranty company. It took 3 months for the refund to be applied to my loan balance. I understand that it takes time for the cancellation to be processed, however, I had to persistently follow up with Jason multiple times via email and phone calls in order to get the refund payment sent to my lender. The final time I emailed Jason on March 9th, he informed me that refund would be sent to my lender within one day. 3 weeks later, the refund had still not been applied to my loan, so I called Jason to ask about the status of the refund. He told me that Schmelz had mailed the check, but that it had not been cashed yet, and that he needed to review the tracking number to investigate, and that he would contact me with more information. He also told me that the refund was mailed as a physical check. Later that day, I called my lender, and they confirmed that the payment was sent by Schmelz electronically just within the last few hours. I interpreted this to mean that the refund payment was not sent by Schmelz to my lender until I had called Jason that morning to inquire about why the refund had not been processed, and he finally had it sent over to my lender (even though he confirmed with me via email 3 weeks prior that it had been sent). It was very frustrating to have to consistently reach out to the Finance Manager over the course of several months to try to obtain information about the status of the cancellation refund. I felt like Schmelz was not wanting to process this payment because they hoped I would just stop calling or forget about it, as they then do not have to deal with any chargeback on the warranty or see a reduction in warranty sales goals. I overall did not have a pleasant experience with the Financing team at Schmelz.

Now is when it gets unprofessional, they bickered back and forth just like siblings, I could have done without that, it was very uncomfortable at times. I had nervous laughter because I didn't know what else to do, I really don't think it's a great idea that they work together, they need to keep the bickering and jabbing to after work not when your trying to sell a car. Yes the financing did go through but Eric came off very arrogant and down right rude at times. Fast forward a few days later, I noticed I was charged $498 for glass coverage, and also $499 for roof rack thing that I told her I didn't want, Eric never went line by line to explain any of the fee's to us, it was just sign here and there, so now I'm out nearly a $1000 in things I didn't want, my insurance will cover the glass coverage for a lot less than 500, we were never told when our payment was due, he was so rude I did get up and walk out of his office. We were never told about the warranties, or scheduling service, or even what 3 years of complementary maintenance means And I also noticed that my car has 2026 tabs which is one of the reasons I traded mine it so I didn't have to worry about tabs until next year, I called them Saturday at 2:07pm, and received no phone call back. I'd maybe check somewhere else, also one of the cars I actually probably would have splurged for battery was dead and when I drove was completely frozen, even the sales women was like yeah good idea to go with the other car, as a sales person that's not a great vote of confidence on her product. So yeah not a great experience. The store manager was cool though. Day 3 no returned call, day 5 still no call.

Love my Mercedes that I bought here, hate the service at this dealership…read more We bought my car used and it had a few little issues with warning lights not going off (the SOS alert--the Euro equivalent of OnStar). The sales guy promised to fix that and a bunch of other things...but the moment we signed for the car all the promises evaporated. I know. I shoulda got it in writing. Salesdude is now retired. This year, we had a problem with the ignition. We knew exactly what needed to be done but didn't have the tools/parts to do it--so we took it to the dealer. We told them what services we wanted performed, but they still charged us for expensive diagnostic work. They also left (completely non-ignition-related) parts of the engine only loosely attached (i.e. caps, plugs, etc.) and in some cases not connected at all. They also stated that they would clean/detail the car as a complimentary service--which they didn't do, but whatever, we weren't expecting or paying for that. And then... ...things started breaking. I'm not saying it was the dealer's fault, but it's a really weird coincidence that I had NO problems until that one, and after we brought it in, there was a veritable onslaught of minor issues (all of which, thankfully, my husband was able to repair himself). Repair costs are also incredibly expensive. That's typical with a dealership mechanic, though. Maybe I'd purchase another car from them, but I'd be sure to get every promise in writing before signing anything. Smarmy.
