I was introduced to him by word of mouth marketing; a co-worker of my wife's mentioned him to my wife when her vehicle wouldn't run after she arrived to work. We called Larry and he came over with a jump pack, got the vehicle going, said it was the alternator and he could have it ready in two hours. Almost to the minute, two hours later I got a call, car was ready and the price was his very reasonable estimate. The dealership was taken over by new management. They wanted to go with more "industry-standard" pricing and upselling. Larry was not a fan and resigned rather than follow the pressure to pad bills with pre-determined hours for a service, or trying to push additional repairs that may not be needed immediately. Within a month, the dealer had to close the service department, and was towing repairs to a second facility. Within a year, the dealership closed down. Larry opened Honest Auto Repair. He is pretty much a "one man" operation, and he keeps his estimates fair for parts and labor (my brakes were squeaking last November when the first snow fell, and I asked him to check them out. He said he brushed the rust off them, so the squeaking stopped, and quoted me a price to repair them, but said I could probably wait until spring for the work. There was no charge for brushing the rust off. I got through the winter just fine, and in May the brake light on the dash board came on. I took the car back to Larry, and he did the work, for his quoted estimate from November.) He handles the maintenance that he is equipped to do, will make recommendations for anything he isn't prepared to do, and his warranty is his personal commitment to "make it right" if your repair doesn't hold up. It is the way business should be done.

I have taken my 2009 car to them on more than one occasion for totally unrelated issues. Each time, I am happy with the work and experience. I took my car there one time to get work done and I recommended doing something else to car and they asked, "why?" They asked if I was having trouble or any issue and used the common sense of "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." I think another garage would have seen $$$ and performed unnecessary work. In my opinion, they are truly honest.

Diagnostic fee was 200 something dollars. Got called saying my fuel pump was bad and it would be running me 1200 ish with the diagnostic fee included. I bit the bullet and agreed to have it fixed. Didnt feel like I had any options. I was told this would be a start to solving problems but not a definite. (Pretty expensive start, why not start out with the smaller issues?) Then I was told the cam shaft position sensor would need changed. Okay. Another 100 ish dollars. I got another call on May 12th 2026 stating the jeep is starting right up. Awesome. I pick it up, get home a couple blocks away and it stalled on me and had a hard time starting (original issue). I called the shop back and they said I could come back and theyd look at it free of charge but now im just frustrated because I spent 1,388 dollars to have the same issues. O2 sensor didnt get fixed even though the check engine light is on for that. Curious as to why they didnt start out with the sensors, why did they jump straight to fuel pump causing the problem? Im not sure. Excellent customer service in the front desk area but they got all I had in my savings as a working single mother. Ill be taking business elsewhere and get some different eyes on it.

That is just to figure out what is wrong and not part of what the repair will cost you. Now, I understand that they can't just waste their time chasing codes for free, but yes that was a little steep. I paid it because I needed my car repaired, and I really do like them. That being said, they now charge $253 to diagnose a check engine light. I just cannot afford to pay $250 simply to walk in the door before the repair pricing even begins, so I have had no choice but to take my car repair business elsewhere. They do a fantastic job, the techs are wonderful, the repairs have been good, but they have priced me out of being able to take my car to them. I do recommend them if you can afford them because they do good work. Just be prepared for the price.

I had taken the vehicle to the shop that installed the system when it began to make a rattling noise and they were unable to fix it. Nick the service tech looked under the car and discovered a bad mounting bracket and a crack in the exhaust pipe. He called Magnaflow and explained the problem and Magnaflow insisted on replacing the entire system. When I asked the dealer to look at it they refused as they were not the manufacturer. Nick also went through the entire vehicle and pointed out some warranty work to have done before it expired. Looks like Atherton's is my new automotive repair shop!

Thank goodness for AAA. They recommended Atherton Automotive and so that's where we went. Before we even got there Matt had already ordered the starter for us. Thinking maybe getting on the road by five ish but nope it took no more then an hour and a half or so. Matt and Nick were very helpful and very efficient. Definitely an A++++ rating. Thank you guys so much for getting us back on the road in such a short time.

I USED to have almost all my car work done here when it was Dick Deans because they guys who owned and operated it were honest with money and work that was needed. I had wheel bearings replaced and they recommended work on all 4 wheels. I paid and drove away. About a month later I felt bouncing in my front tire. After having work done on that wheel I thought I was just driving too fast for the curves on the interstate...... But then while on the interstate it started again. I took my car to Costco because had bought the tires there and they will rebalance any tire they have sold. They told me to be VERY careful and get the car worked on ASAP, not going over 50+ mph. I did and it was confirmed that the bushings were shot. Two separate mechanics confirmed this should have been obvious. Not to mention the VERY LARGE BILL They had this wheel off and saw nothing. I or anyone else driving the car could have been hurt or killed for this negligence.

Because when I picked up my truck after dropping it off I made a second appointment. Which they canceled because they knew I would give them crap about trying to upsale me for replacing good parts.
