Somewhat new to Texas, I have struggled over the last year with finding someone I can put my absolute trust in. From the very first appointment, we had an immediate action plan. I have made more progress in the last 3 months than I've had in 6 years. Living in pain is scary, frustrating, and debilitating. I have seen exactly 4 pain management doctors here in Texas and Dr. B is the one I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone struggling with pain. He is one of the kindest and most intelligent doctors I have ever met. He is patient, understanding, and is a very attentive listener. Always smiling, never judging, I feel safe with Dr. B. I can't say I've ever felt as safe as I do or trusted a pain management doctor the way I do with Dr. B. He is open and honest and doesn't dance around anything. His bed side manner truly is a class act. It is always a pleasant experience from check in to check out. Ashley is always smiling and ridiculously pleasant. His MA Tony, is phenomenal. He is very easy to speak with, get a hold of, is very thorough, and quite frankly makes me smile even when I'm wanting to cry. Both of them do- Dr. B and Tony. They make a really great team. In my 40 years, I've never met a more competent & efficient MA. I'm no longer scared to leave an appointment feeling like I'm missing something and will have to wait until my next appointment to address it. I have struggled greatly in the past with MAs who have lacked knowledge, a sense of urgency, understanding, or had very poor follow up. Not Tony. No Sir. He is on it!! Best MA award goes to Tony. Dr. B has come to us from Chicago as a highly respected doctor. And the mere fact that Tony has joined Dr. Broadnax and Dr. Anderson on their journey here to Texas is not only a testament to the depth of their teamwork but is also a testament of their trust in each other. Which is then genuinely felt by myself, the patient. So if you are a patient like a was; feeling lost, not quite sure what to do, feeling like your pain is your destiny, convinced this is how you're going to have to live the rest of your life, running into oddball pain management doctors who don't seem to listen, want to try experimental injections on you, or just bandaid the pain with medication, please stop and make an appointment. There IS hope and there truly are good doctors in this state. Dr. Broadnax & his partner, Dr. Eric Anderson have blessed Texas by coming here from Chicago. I feel bad for the patients they had to leave behind. But they are both highly educated and intelligent individuals who know how to treat their patients like humans and with kindness.

I called 4 different t times to get details and next steps so I can start my road to recovery. No call backs or a sense of urgency. I finally stopped calling and went elsewhere for care and so happy that I did. 3 months later I received a phone call to check on me and I told the lady on the phone my experience and why I am no longer a patient there. She just said okay and hung up. Two of the times I called, there were roosters and barking in the background so I know their scheduling is working remote. Not a good idea with the service and whoever is doing the follow ups. I want to reach out to the doctor so he knows about his staff but I can't get a hold of him without going through the front desk. Go elsewhere!! Healthcare shouldn't be like this. AWFUL!!

No call, no follow-up, no urgency--nothing. She trusted this office with her health. This cancer is fast spreading when my mom could have treated this almost one year ago. Finding out something like this so late is not just frustrating, it's scary. Patients deserve timely communication, especially when it comes to pathology results. There is no excuse for this kind of delay. I cannot recommend this doctor based on my experience. What should have been a straightforward follow-up turned into unnecessary anxiety and a complete lack of accountability. They will be getting a lawsuit very soon.

A few weeks went by and we started receiving bills from Quest diagnostics. The bills were not small. She called Quest who told her she had to speak with Lifestream. She spoke with Lifestream who told her she should not be receiving a bill because she paid in full. We continued to get bills. Every month we repeated the same dance. Every month we were told we shouldn't be receiving a bill. She messaged Susan Harris herself who assured us she would personally take care of this. It's the very end of June and we received yet another bill saying it is past due. This isn't rocket science, it's not even as difficult as traditional medical billing where you have to go back and forth with insurance to get paid. This was a cash payment. Simple. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If they can't handle something as simple as a cash payment, I'm not sure how they could even begin to handle the complexities of treating patients. My wife and I are so disappointed in the lack of care we have received from this office.

He glanced at my chart and said, why are you here? In a tone like he didn't understand what made me come. I responded that I have triple scoliosis 49°thoracic curve that causes pain and restricts abilities. My regular doctor had referred me to Arriosti PT, who said not safe to work with me until a spinal specialist outline what would be permissible to not harm my heart or lungs. Dr Valente had me stand up, put my hands out in front of me, pushed on them, told me to hold my arms out and pushed on them, then said 'tell them to do whatever they want'. He said I needed a specific scoliosis x-ray at Harris hospital. No paperwork or other written information was provided. The front desk said just to call Harris to make an appointment. I called nearby Harris and they said there was no order for an x-ray. The person at the hospital contacted dr. V office to get the order sent. When she finally got it, it was for a different location downtown. That all took over a week. I could not go downtown right away because of work. When Valente's office called to confirm my next appt, I said please reschedule since I had not been able to go for the x-ray. She said I should call back to reschedule because she didn't want to 'waste her time' following up. Could not believe she said that. I came here because I needed help but that didn't happen.

I agreed to see one of the nurse practitioners and paid the higher fee for my first visit. She was not able to advise me on anything during that visit as she didn't have my bloodwork results yet. I have not been able to communicate with her at all about prescriptions since having my bloodwork run. The doctors do not communicate with patients through clinic's messaging system, unlike many other clinics. Messages are only responded to by the assistants. After much back and forth due to this, it has been almost two months without one of my agreed upon prescriptions being filled. One of my other prescriptions was incorrectly filled. After multiple calls and messages with assistants that were just following a script, the office manager called and insisted that it had been filled correctly and told me to go to CVS to handle it with them. The CVS pharmacist showed me how it was sent in and explained how it was done incorrectly. She tried to call the clinic but only only got the AI system. I have made more calls and sent messages since then. Today the office manager again called and insisted that the prescription was filled correctly, complete with a bad attitude as usual. She then told me I'm being fired as a patient. This is how they deal with their incompetence. This the worst run clinic I have ever dealt with.

My mixed review of interactions with Dr Bayless and his office. In June of 2026, I had orthoscopic…read moresurgery of my knee for a meniscus tear. I had a pleasant first time visit with Dr. Bayless. During this visit he took plenty of time to thoroughly explain how the surgery would be performed and expected recovery. I only had to get pre op exam, then surgery would be scheduled. I did delay scheduling surgery, so there was a period of time between first appointment and surgery scheduling (my choice). Following surgery scheduling date set, I was told that I needed to come in for one more appointment to go over preop information. Then received two emails. One was a consent for surgery assistant to help during surgery. (I had been informed that he used one, so not surprised) The second was a bill for $450 which had a due date prior to office appointment. I decided to just wait until appointment in 2 days to fill out form and pay at the office. This is where things started getting strange. I received a phone call and messages saying I needed to fill out the forms and return them with payment or I would not be kept on the surgery schedule. I explained that I had an appointment in 2 days and was planning on taking care of it at the office. I was then sternly informed if I did not do this that I would be removed for surgery schedule. When I arrived for my appointment, the front desk had messages on my chart saying I had to sign forms and submit payment prior to being seen. (I had chose to go ahead and submit payment the night before appoint online, so that had already been done). I went in for my second appointment at the office. This time I was seen by the surgery Assistant. Honestly, it was like a replay of prior explanation by Dr Bayless of the surgery. I had surgery as outpatient procedure and surgery went well. I was told that normal recovery was three days, no limits or restrictions after surgery (other than keeping bandages dry). Thank goodness that I do not have a job in which I was expected to return to three days post op. I had to keep a walker or cane close by me for over six weeks, because my knee was swelling so bad and it froze in whatever position it was in for any period of time. My third appointment at the office (first post op) was with the assistant to remove stitches. I told him of my issues and he said give it some more time. My fourth and final visit is why I am writing this review. During this visit I was informed that I had to pay another $485.16 for non-covered insurance amount. I ask if the prior $450 amount had been applied to this balance. This is when I was informed that the first $450 payment was to cover assistant fee and that it did not qualify for insurance coverage. It was an "optional out of pocket payment". Surgery would not have been done without use of assistant, so not optional. At no point had I been informed that charge was not covered by insurance. I reread all paper work that I had signed and it was not in any of the paperwork either. For me it is too late because I have already had the surgery and Assistant was used during surgery, but just want to warn others that this is an extra uncovered charge of $450. My second issue if my poor recovery experience. I was made to believe that three days post op I would be back to mobile. At my six-week post op appointment, when I saw Dr Bayless, I was told that I may need physical therapy or injections to help things get back to normal. I was also told that my weight made it harder for knee to recover. First, yes, I am overweight. My weight was not an problem prior to surgery in estimated recovery, but now that I am still having problems it is. I am now three months post op and final getting around without walker and cane on standby. The knee still aches and swells, with too much standing, but finally getting better. To summarize. Expect to pay an extra uncovered out of pocket expense of $450 for surgery. Do not count of Three day back a work post op.
