Today, my husband Ernie, our daughter Jennifer, and I decided to try Terry Black's BBQ for the first time today. (We've tried many different BBQ spots between California, Arizona, and Texas). This is the best Barbecue I've ever had! (And my family is from East Texas so I've grown up on good, Texas barbecue). The smoked brisket is phenomenal! It has that pink ring around the outside, the "bark" is well-seasoned & carmelized, and it just falls apart in your hands, especially if you ask for the burnt ends which tend to fall apart more. The smoked pork ribs are like eatin' barbecued candy! They have the most delicious flavor, perfectly seasoned, smoky & sweet. The jalapeño cheddar hot links have that perfect snap and just the perfect amount of heat-delicious! Tyler told us the sausage is a mix of about all their meats including their smoked turkey, brisket, and ribs. They're ground together in house. They also gave us a free sample of their smoked turkey breast, and it's also delicious-moist with a good smokey flavor. We never would've known how good the smoked turkey is had Bernard not given us a sample, it's good eatin'!! Bernard, Jaretzy & Tyler helped us today. They're truly so friendly and knowledgeable about their barbecue. We will definitely make this our go-to spot in New Braunfels, TX.

We went to Terry Blacks after floating the river, which I feel was a great decision because we came hungry. The line wasn't too long and it went fairly quickly. We ordered the brisket and pork ribs for the meats and for the sides, we ordered corn, mac & cheese, and rice. For dessert we ordered the banana pudding. The meat was flavorful, but a little dry. The corn was amazing. I really liked the Mac and cheese but some people thought it wasn't cheesy enough. The banana pudding was so good. This is solid Texas bbq if you are hungry!

Elite BBQ experience. Easily the best BBQ in central Texas. Brisket and turkey always tender and juicy, Cornbread, soft and flavorful. Mac and cheese creamy and cooked to perfection. Fast service, great upstairs dining area....like what more do you want!!! This place is it. Check um out.

I visited this spot for dinner on my birthday Monday and feel fortunate to have a nearby place for excellent barbecue. I appreciate the interior design and the upstairs outdoor space, where the lights and plants enhance the patio service. The staff were accommodating, and the food remained consistently delicious. My beef rib was mouthwatering and melted in my mouth; it was truly great. The green beans were flavorful, vegan, and seasoned perfectly. The mac & cheese were acceptable, but I enjoyed the cream corn and will certainly return to this location repeatedly.

Competition makes for a better product. Considering how many bbq places there are within 1 mile of this seems to prove the point. The sliced brisket was tender, juicy and flavorful. The only knock I have was the bun was not toasted although with the amount of meat on the sandwich I suspect most people will be eating it with a fork, the way I did. The wife thought the potato salad was ok, the smoked turkey was very good. They have three different sauces on the table. I tried them all and I can recommend the original and spicy versions. I think the sweet may be mustard based. They are huge and efficient at getting you your food quickly. We were in line for about 3 minutes on a busy day. Unlike other, highly regarded bbq joints, this one has several prep, weigh and pay stations so you can get in and on with your meal quickly. They should probably set up a second drink station as there was a bottleneck at the one they have now. It's loud inside. Partly because of the number of people and because of the loud music. It made it difficult to order. Lots of seating options, inside and out.

We tried just about everything and it was incredible. You really can't go wrong with anything here and it's such a beautiful location. Some of the items pictured is creamed corn, jalapeño cheddar sausage, brisket, pork ribs, beef rib, banana pudding and more. Can't wait to come back.

We are visiting from out of state and decided to do The Terry Black's BBQ Experience. We were greeted by Amaryllis when we arrived. She was adorable and friendly and checked on us multiple times while we were there. All the staff were truly amazing. Cam and Amelia guided us from start to finish and made sure we wanted for nothing. Cam showed us around the pits with the glorious smoking meats and introduced us to Jacob, one of the pit masters. Jacob was very knowledgeable and provided us with details around the smoking process that is truly a labor of love and something he adores doing. All of the meats and sides were mouth watering! And the peach cobbler with ice cream was a perfect end to the meal! We have many leftovers that we will surely enjoy tomorrow and the next day. Definitely worth the trip!!

I have to say when we walked in, it was beautiful. I like the layout, I like that you can see them smoking the meat, I like the greenery everywhere and I definitely like the way you order. You pick your sides first, then meat. Everyone was super friendly and very helpful. We aren't huge bbq people so I don't know what's good, what an expectation for it is but this place exceeded every bar I had for it. I loved the light smoke on the meat where you could still enjoy the actual meat flavor. Ribs fell off the bone, turkey was super moist, brisket was perfection and the jalapeño sausage is something I'll be dreaming about. Every side we had was delicious. Green beans were still crunchy, Mac and cheese was creamy and kind sharp on the cheesiness, the banana pudding was 10/10. Honestly if I could afford to eat here everyday I would. This plate was about $90 which is expensive for my family so sadly we'd probably end up elsewhere but man this meal was really good.

We had the half a pound of brisket and it did have visible fat but not a lot. I liked it but my husband said it was a bit salty for his taste. We also ordered dark meat chicken which to me was ok but it was still a little pink inside. The best seller for us was the original links and wished we ordered more of it. The casing was really crisp and taste was scrumptious. The place was clean and everything else was organized - everything you will need was set up on the table near the eating area/drinks.

Ever since, I'd wanted to try the place. The food was excellent. My friend said the mac and cheese was the best she'd ever had. It was incredibly cheesy, a little too much for me, but she loves a good mac and cheese, so we'll go with her opinion. My fatty brisket was a thing of beauty. The counter and floor staff were cheerful, quick, and accommodating the whole time. They're the reason I'd consider coming back. The problem was the manager. He approached us, said pets weren't allowed, and told us we'd have to leave. I told him my dog is a service animal, and he scoffed. When I explained she's trained in deep pressure therapy, he said that "doesn't count." It does. Deep pressure therapy is a recognized trained task under the ADA, and staff may only ask whether the dog is required because of a disability and what task she's trained to perform. He seemed unfamiliar with it, and he kept badgering me until I gave him a medical condition, which he had no right to ask for. After we got our food, he approached us at the drink station. My service dog is a mini pinscher, and my friend was holding her because my hands were full. He said she had to stay on the floor the entire time and couldn't be held or touch a seat. A self-serve drink refill station is a customer area, not a food preparation area, and Texas rules allow service animals outside of food prep areas. He told us there would be "no more warnings," then sat nearby and watched us for a while to make sure she stayed on the floor. My dog was calm and under control the entire time. It felt intimidating, and nothing he told us matches the ADA or the Texas food establishment rules for service animals. I'd encourage the owner to make sure managers know the basics of service animal law. The staff clearly knew how to make guests feel welcome, and one manager nearly soured an otherwise great experience. Edit: Bizarrely, the owner commented on this review and then withdrew the comment 48 minutes later...

Once I saw that, I told my husband let's just go to Rudy's. They have the best breakfast tacos and are less than $3 a taco. We were greeted with a warm good morning as we came in the door. The cashier helped us with the cost of the tacos, bag our tacos and salsas, and rung us up. I love the country style decor and picnic table seating but we decided to take our tacos to go. We got 3 tacos for around $10. They are so good. Fresh tortillas with great tasting scrambled eggs, meats, potatoes, etc. We just went to their order to go side and grabbed ready made tacos and delicious red and green salsa. All of our breakfast tacos were delicious. Egg, potato, and cheese, brisket & egg, and chopped beef & egg. The brisket and egg was my favorite. It had just a small amount of smoke flavor without being overpowering. You didn't just taste egg. It all complimented each other very well. I was impressed by the amount of meat. I love the green salsa. That's my favorite but I put both salsas on it. Honestly the bbq is hit and miss at every location I've been to. All my brother wanted for his birthday last weekend was for us to join him and some friends at…read moreBurnt Bean Co. He's always on a mission to try as many of Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ Joints as he can. We were in San Antonio for the weekend to celebrate our grandfather's birthday, but Seguin isn't too far away (45 minutes on a good day or an hour and 20 minutes on a day when they've closed down I-10 and made a mess of a traffic; the latter was our experience). Friends of his drove from different places to meet us and we met them in line. Texas Monthly hasn't released the 2026 list yet, but Burnt Bean Co. was number 1 on the list in 2025. NUMBER 1! So, yes, there will be a line. The first of our group arrived around 9 in the morning for an 11 am opening. There's a bit of cover where the line wraps from the front door, but we were definitely baking. People brought chairs, umbrellas, handheld fans, cold waters, and more to stay cool. It was still sooooo hot. People who arrived around 9 got in right at 11 and had BBQ in front of them by 11:10. People who got there around 10 got in maybe a half hour later. People who got there later had to wait closer to an hour and got in around 12. (I noticed this, because people in our group weren't all standing together in line.) Once inside, the restaurant is really nice: high ceilings, great AC, tons of tables, and an outside area, too (if you prefer to continue to sweat as you eat your BBQ). The service was incredibly friendly, too. Staff came by and asked however everything was, took empty plates/platters to help us make room, and were very friendly when we were ordering. Almost everything we ate was exceptional. Their menu is huge, with tons of specials that change constantly. Between our group of 9 people, we tried most of the menu. The highlights for me were the beef cheek pastrami, the steakhouse bacon, the Moroccan spiced lamb ribs, and the turkey. I didn't have room to try the brisket, chicken, sausage, and many other things, because I had been eating too long by the time the folks with those meats got to our table! The sides were also very good. I tried the cheesy squash, the green beans, and the queso mac and cheese with hot cheetos - all good. On Saturdays, they offer several specials: the steakhouse bacon, the bourbon peach cobbler taco, and 2 free beers per person - as if they didn't have enough treats on the menu for a great time. Their location is Seguin is great - just off Central Park and Court Street. The service was fantastic. The vibes are great. The food was definitely topnotch. Even the line feels like a fun community experience - with people chatting and having a great time. There's nothing not to like about Burnt Bean Co. We all enjoyed my brother's birthday treat! I'm glad he insisted!

You cannot try a wide variety of their dishes but it was enough for me. I had pick up at 10:30 and you just go to the back a bit of a wait like 10-15 minutes since they cut the meat to order. I got the brisket (2 lbs), pork ribs (2 lbs) , jalapeño sausage (1lb), and quart sizes of the corn pudding, tater tot dish, and hot cheeto mac and cheese. The stars were definitely the pork rib (super flavorful and tender), the brisket was fall apart tender, and the jalapeno sausage had a beautiful snap and is properly spicy. I was a bit disappointed with the sides. My favorite was probably the corn pudding but I still prefer a nice roasted corn OR a corn bread but this was a very unique combo of the two. The mac was okay and same with the tater tot side (honestly the potatoes were quite salty). The sauce isn't my favorite since I personally prefer a spicier sauce. The bread they have is very nice and the people are friendly. It's also quite smoky inside.

Let's start with the chicken fried steak, because it's absolutely worth talking about. Texas has no shortage of restaurants claiming to make the best, but this one belongs in the conversation. Crispy breading, tender beef, and all the comforting goodness you expect from a well-executed Texas classic. It's easily one of the better chicken fried steaks I've enjoyed, and I'd happily order it again. But honestly, the patio might be just as big a reason to visit as the food. The rustic surroundings, beautiful trees, and relaxed Hill Country atmosphere make this a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. It's one of those settings where you sit down for lunch and suddenly realize you've been there two hours because nobody feels particularly motivated to leave. And that's where the margaritas come in. Excellent margaritas. Cold, refreshing, and perfectly suited to an afternoon on the patio. I'm fairly certain a good margarita, a little Texas scenery, and absolutely nowhere else you need to be should qualify as a legitimate stress-management program. What really makes this place special is the combination. The food is good enough to bring you in, the atmosphere makes you want to stay, and the margaritas make you forget you had somewhere else to be. It's a popular destination, and for good reason. Whether you're entertaining visitors, exploring the Hill Country, or just looking for a memorable meal, this is an easy recommendation. My advice? Request the patio, order the chicken fried steak, enjoy a margarita, and don't be in a hurry. That's a pretty great way to spend an afternoon in Texas. Five well-earned stars.
